  1. This. I wouldn't bother speculating on the Yankees or Astros since Braun won't go there. I actually think our best shot, if they can stay somewhat in contention, might be the Angels. If they go on a little run and want to buy, they really don't have any top prospects to pull off a blockbuster, but they could afford to take on Braun, so that could be their best way to add a major piece without giving up much, and Braun would probably go there. Best part for both sides is the DH opportunity. Angels are an old team and probably won't keep Trout forever so its possible they may want to try something now. Albert Pujols kind of has the DH spot locked down for the next 4.5 years. I suppose they could share it but both are RHB and neither should play in the field.
  2. This shouldn't surprise anyone. Countless times in his career Braun has been deemed "healthy" only to not be healthy a few days later.
  3. Wily doesn't have control out of the bullpen either. Who'd a thunk it?
  4. Counsell just does not have the look or feel of a grumpy, tough guy, so his tirades come off as a little lacking in intimidation. Still a lot better than RRR, A LOT BETTER! I like seeing the fire though... I don't think he needs to be grumpy, just come out looking deliberate, decisive, and obviously wronged, with some genuine passion and anger from caring greatly about his players. (I'm not saying he doesn't care about his players.) Show 'em your #1 concern is standing up for a group of guys working their tails off to scratch out a win. Pat Murphy needs to do all the arguing. Craig just looks stupid whenever he tries.
  5. Full circle, didn't he come here in the Sexson to DBacks deal? Ya but he came to Arizona from Boston. Just looked and he originally signed with AZ then went to BOS then back to AZ so yes, full circle.
  6. Full circle, didn't he come here in the Sexson to DBacks deal? Ya but he came to Arizona from Boston.
  7. One of the hundreds of reasons I refuse to fly. Being packed in a small tube with random people for hours on end. No thanks.
  8. On one hand you have Sheets and Braun, superstars who never had major injuries but were hurt all the time. And then you have Fielder who didn't miss a game for a few years until he got the flu.
  9. Look at the current state of our MLB pitching. Trading every prospect we have won't give us a truly competitive staff. We're not a pitcher or two from serious contender. We're like 5 SP's and a couple RP's from being a serious contender. I doubt Mark is delusional enough to think the current roster legitimate nor that we have enough prospects to acquire the players to make us legitimate this year.
  10. The home team winning all 4 games in this series Brian? I think you're 100% wrong on that.
  11. So Braun plays two games in three days and needs a day off already? I understand it's a day game after a night game and he's looked like crap since but come on dude.
  12. I'd wager Arcia never makes an all star team but I still wouldn't trade him for Cozart.
  13. Five of us put in 4 hours of work to make about $300. Am I missing something here, they paid $15/hr/volunteer to your organization... that's slave labor? Seems more than fair especially considering it also costs MP money to constantly train the volunteers.... they could be more efficient and profitable hiring their own staff. The non-profits are benefiting from this arrangement, not the Brewers. I wasn't the one that said it was slave labor and I wouldn't agree that it is. However we had a manager who treated us like we were veterans at the job and stayed in the back the whole time except to come out and tell us when we did something wrong. Then throw in the sober customers who don't know you're volunteers and treat you like crap when you make a mistake and the obnoxious drunk customers who treat you like crap because they're drunk and it's just a horrible experience.
  14. Well I've got Joe Smith on my fantasy team and the Brewers tend to hammer my fantasy relievers so we'll see.
  15. John Gibbons always looks like he's simultaneously angry and confused.
  16. Houston tried going for it a year before they should have and traded prospects for veterans and missed the playoffs. I think Stearns was still there. Hopefully he learned from that.
  17. I agree on Uecker. He's basically been doing the same schtick and telling the same "I was bad at baseball" stories for 20+ years. Sometimes he finds time to talk about the action going on actually give a score.
  18. But that's not the argument. The point is being a baseball announcer is incredibly difficult and takes tremendous talent, moreso than any other mainstream sport IMO. And filling in 3 hours - of which maybe 15 minutes is actual gameplay - with entertaining banter and analysis is tremendously difficult. But listen to anyone for 3 hours every day about anything and you can find reasons to not like them. Again, not everyone has to like him, or Rock for that matter, but the whole point of comparing them to others is not to say everyone else sucks. It's actually to say most others, by definition, are average. And if you realize that, and compare them to our guys, you may see that our guys are actually pretty darn good. I have listened to other broadcasts. Some are better, some are worse. Brian doesn't really do anything annoying but never has he ever said anything that I thought was interesting or entertaining. I'll never say that he's bad at what he does but I just can't understand the people who say he's good at what he does. He's just so bland and boring. Rock is for the most part the dumb ex-jock but at least he shows some passion and enthusiasm for the Brewers from time to time.
  19. I hate that whenever Brian Anderson comes up it comes down to "everyone else sucks" so Brian is good.
  20. I don't understand the big deal about graduations. I didn't go to my college graduation and would have skipped my high school graduation if my mom let me. Graduation parties on the other hand, those are a must have.
  21. Not much of anything. Cozart is a free agent this offseason and hasn't hit outside of this year. Storen would probably be an upgrade to the bullpen but he's been up and down the last few years and is just as likely to be as bad as what we have now.
  22. How can MLB allow a team to just cancel a game without a legitimate reason?
