    I think most posters here would have no problem acquiring a better second baseman if the team was in contention and there was a clear upgrade available but how often does the management of any team make a move like that. If a guy is entrenched as a starter they don't make moves unless the player gets injured or is completely terrible. See Yuni playing the whole season at short for a division champion.

    Mark belongs in the hall of very, very good. If he pitched in the NL and played for a team that won more he would probably be in consideration for the Hall of Fame.

    There seems to be some hate on this board for Badenhop. Other than ERA his numbers this year are the same or better than last year which many thought were a fluke. He's been quite good.

    Before the inevitable complaining of WHY ARE THEY MAKING HIM A RELIEVER!?!?!?! remember that this happens every year with prospect starters in every organization in September.

    You can put the contact play on every once in a while if you have a fast runner at third and hope you get an error out of it but to do it almost every single time like Ron does is beyond stupid.

    Ron said he doesn't have a need for a third catcher because he's having trouble finding at bats for Moldonado. Which doesn't make any sense since Lucroy has been playing a bit of first so Martin has been catching. Ron is an idiot though so I guess it makes sense.

    I love how he's doing but this probably has bought him an incredibly long leash when he finally comes back to earth. The same way Yuni bought himself a starting position for most of the year with only 1 good month.

    The Twins really botched this season. They probably could have gotten a worthwhile player for Justin before July 31. They inexplicably have held on to Josh Willingham, I know he was injured but he's signed for next year at a decent rate. And they refused to move an over-priced, unneeded close in Glen Perkins.

    With the pitcher on deck you almost have to give him the green light.

    If I remember correctly they acquired him because they wanted to make him a pitcher.

    I'm glad that the temptation to offer him arby is gone but I hate that he's going to the Cardinals. He won't give up a run the rest of the season.

    This is more of a vent than news but I'm real sick of Bill saying "how do you reward a hitter for taking that pitch?" every time a batter takes a close ball with 2 strikes. Well Bill, if it doesn't cross the plate, it's a ball. There's no "rewards" involved.

    daniel ray herrera was on the brewers 40-man and we was one of two players to be named in the francisco rodriguez trade. Based on a previous post I must have been thinking 25 man. I knew there was a roster you couldn't be on and I guess it was 25.

    I think a PTBNL can't be on the 40-man roster.

    401 PA is a decent sample size but still not enough to make any certain judgements about. I think we have to chalk this one up to statistical anomaly.

    I definitely remember it being kind of a sucking-at-everything-on-defense issue at 3B for Ryan. That is how I remeber it also. He didn't have fielding instincts coupled with a very inaccurate throwing arm. Which is really surprising considering he was a short stop at a DI program.

    Barring injury or trade Gallardo, Lohse, Peralta, and Estrada will be 4 of them. I'm guessing that last starter isn't even in the organization right now and Doug will trade for or sign him.

    Exactly. Braun just needs to keep his mouth shut and stay out of the public eye until the next "scandal" happens and he'll be fine. I don't understand why this is so hard to get. It seems people think that the first cheater in baseball was the first guy to take steroids. St. Louis Cardinal = different standards (i.e. Cardinal way)

    How quickly we forget Martin Malanado or Mike Fiers. How are they doing this year? Ronnie Belliard, Casey McGehee, Bill Hall, Nyjer Morgan all had streaks of brilliance but were pretty crappy the rest of the time. Even Yuni played like an All Star for a month. I like what I've seen and it's exciting but I'm not getting my hopes up yet.
