  1. A racing Sausage, random player from the past (Cirillo?), a player who was a fringe part of Brewer history but still has connection to team (Schroeder?), Bud Selig, Betancourt. Those are my picks.
  2. I don't know all that much about Matt, although I did hear him speak at the WBCA conference last year and thought he was very forward thinking, but is he a candidate to coach or manage in the majors in a few years? More importantly though, will he actually deserve it or will it just be because of his Wisconsin roots?
  3. I was looking at property tax records this morning. I was curious if he still owned the building I worked in since there is a different business in that office space and I never see his vehicle there anymore. Yes, he does still own it but it is under the name of another business that I had never heard of before and is listed as an LLC. None of the companies I worked for were LLC's. He also owes $3200+ in property taxes from 2012. I guess he's just not very big on the whole "paying things he's supposed to" thing.
  4. I heard on the radio that no team has ever came back from down 3-2. I find that surprising and have no doubt in my mind that the Cardinals will because I hate them.
  5. If the Angels said "here, take Mark Trumbo," I would be fine with that but they are going to want something in return and the reports are pitching and young pitching is what they want. I do not want to give up young pitching for him. I'd prefer to hold out hope of Yo reverting to his old self and getting something more at the deadline than to trade him for Trumbo. That leaves only Lohse and I think he would be too old and too expensive for what they are looking for. I'm not sold on Morris (and I have a feeling the front office isn't either) as the future but at least he won't cost anything in terms of players or money. If it was my decision to make I would offer Corey a 1 year deal for $5M with incentives and hope he stays healthy enough to be productive and trade. If he declines the offer, I give first to Morris and see what happens.
  6. Trumbo's only skill is hitting homeruns. It's a nice skill to have but when you consistently hit 30 homeruns and can't post an OPS above .800, you really don't have much value. Boujos might be nice but he's Carlos Gomez without the power and unless Gomez is trade it seems pointless to get him. The big point though is that the Brewers can't be trading young pitchers at this point. I wouldn't even trade Lohse for both or either of these guys unless the Angels were paying most, if not all, of his contract.
  7. I was reading on Suk-Min Yoon. He seems like an intriguing pitcher. He is a free agent so there will be no posting fee. He had an injury last year that there have been very vague reports about. I don't see any of the big market teams getting involved with him. Maybe he could be had on a cheapish short term deal to build up some US value and then hit the free agent market at a still very young age.
  8. FINAL UPDATE (hopefully): After keeping tabs on this guy and his "business" for a while, I can finally say that he is no longer in business. He screwed over the wrong business who sued him and also put on their website not to do business with him because he is a crook. I noticed that the few people that worked for him have new jobs on their LinkedIn profiles and he seems to have completely disappeared. This makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside expect for the fact that somebody owes the IRS the taxes he should have paid on my wages when I worked for him. I never paid them and filed the appropriate forms for making him pay them. The IRS informed me that the case could take up to two years to resolve, which is fine, but can they still make him pay if he's no longer in business? I'm sure it depends how the company was set up but this is where it gets tricky. The company I worked for and the company that paid me were two different companies - sometimes. I also got paychecks from two different companies, one of which is no longer in business and the other which still seems to be. So, I'm not really sure if I'm done with this or not.
  9. If it wasn't for fantasy football I wouldn't dedicate as much time to watching football as I do. I bet a good chunk of their audience is the same way. If it wasn't for gambling and fantasy football I don't think football would be as big as it is and with all the new research about concussions and the general propensity for injuries I see it's popularity declining over the next few years.
  10. The way they ranked the teams was pretty dumb. It was based off of a point system given to certain prospects.
  11. Got a text from a friend in Green Bay that it is snowing pretty hard. Nothing where I am though.
  12. Price career OPS+ is 141. He put up a 143 in Milwaukee and is at 135 so far in Detroit. Yes, he's declining but I think the rumors of his demise are rather premature. Moving from Miller Park to Comerica has really hurt his numbers. His OBP with Milwaukee and Detroit are virtually identical (.390/.387) but his average is .013 higher with Detroit (.295/.282) and his SLUG is .049 higher with Milwaukee (.540/.491). You really see the difference when broken down by the ballparks. At Miller he's slashed .286/.399/.566 and at Comerica .304/.400/.512. It's the same thing, OBP the same, higher AVG in Comerica, higher SLUG in Miller.
  13. I don't. In the NFL, the rookies and young players are paid incredibly much more than in MLB. A salary floor only encourages prolonged mediocrity. The Astros and Marlins are going to be better off in the long run for completely tearing apart their teams. With a salary floor they would have been required to sign pointless veterans just to meet some arbitrary number.
  14. No way he would be getting $20M a year next offseason.
  15. Why base a player's value off of thousands of regular season PA's when about 100 in the playoffs is so much more important?
  16. I see no way Doug or Mark would make that move. That can't afford the money and don't have the prospects to make it happen.
  17. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/mlb--with-replay-looming--could--neighborhood-play--be-a-thing-of-the-past--220641926.html Tackles my biggest problem with replay.
  18. That's just ridiculous. Clearly the Cuban players are getting better with Cespedes and Puig playing above average to well above average in the majors but this guy is older than they are and plays a position that requires very little athleticism. I also read that they are expected to start him in the minors for part of the season. Nothing like being a franchise that can afford to have an $11M minor leaguer.
  19. Will Ferrell reads Dodgers lineup I love how the Dodgers are making a mockery of the Cardinals dissatisfaction of the Dodger's supposed making a mockery of baseball.
  20. I just finished reading Bill Veeck's auto-biography and this was discussed a little towards the end. From what I remember Chuck wanted to move West to LA and there really wasn't much interest in going to Milwaukee.
  21. You get a player in the Rule V draft because you think he might become something someday. Prince will never be anything more than a 4A super sub. Not worth guaranteeing a season-long roster spot.
  22. Best case scenario, you only get the first half of that. The Brewers will never be able to sign a Verlander-type pitcher that they develop to a long term deal unless the pitcher signs for a very long time very early in his career.
  23. If your opponent doesn't hustle because he is celebrating why should you care? It didn't happen in this case but how many times has a batter trotted out of the box because thought he hit a homerun but got thrown out at second or only got a single? It happens a couple times a year and if you're on the other team, so what? It only benefits your team. Grow up or shut up St. Louis.
