  1. Seems like a rather non-A's type of move. Callaspo is a below average hitter at any position you put him and Green was one of their top prospects.
  2. Not that I care but is the national media talking about this at all or will they continue to bury Milwaukee as the home of that crappy baseball team with the "cheater"?
  3. Your situation is a little different than mine but when I was dealing with my former employer not paying me the government was pretty much useless. The Department of Workforce Development did the minimum effort and when I contacted my DA about it I was told his department "doesn't have the time or resources to deal with it." Luckily, I was eventually paid. Don't even get me started on how useless the IRS has been since I found out I was an illegally misclassified employee.
  4. Hopefully Yuni doesn't teach the kids how to keep a major league job despite not deserving one. That could get expensive for the Brewers.
  5. After these trades and the Angels getting a young arm with potential for Scott Downs there is no reason for Doug to not trade Axford, Henderson, and Gonzalez. Teams are way over paying for relievers this year.
  6. I'm taking the lady to a game or two in August so this is a pleasant surprise. Not sure what I'll be spending it on but it will definitely not be food.
  7. Just give me cheap tickets for good seats. That's all I want.
  8. This should be it. When I started pitching I wanted to pitch like Randy Johnson so I tried to learn a slider and throw really hard. I didn't grow out my hair, kill birds, and learn the drums.
  9. Why cherry pick those random situations? His whole season has been terrible.
  10. I was once asked during a job interview who my role model was. I had to think for a while because the answer was no one. I guess I just want to be me and do things and act like me so I guess I've never understood all this "role model" business.
  11. McGwire wasn't a horrible teammate or d-bag to the media.
  12. The silver lining will be being able to go to a game this August and September and having elbow room.
  13. It's great that KRod brought something worth while back but when will this team stop the love affair with guys that can't play defense? I love offense as much as the next guy but you can't field a lineup of 8 1B's, corner OF'ers, and DH's.
  14. I'm ambivalent to the whole situation and I don't care whether Braun did or didn't do anything but I just hate that there is another reason for non-Brewer fans to rip on me for being a Brewer fan.
  15. I may have been wrong about how Lohse would perform but I still don't like the signing. If, and that's a big if, Doug trades him the signing was worth it. Otherwise it was a waste of a draft pick for 3 pointless years.
  16. How about this question. Are the Brewers currently the least well run team in the division? The Cubs have a plan and some pieces in place to contend in a few years especially after the trade of Garza. The Pirates are on the verge of being very good for a while. As much as we hate it, the Cardinals have always been run well. My concern with the Reds would be that Dusty Baker is still their manager but they have some good young players locked up for a while and a decent rotation. I think it's safe to say that, yes, the Brewers are the least well run team in the division and have the bleakest outlook over the next few seasons. Obviously things can change, prospects can emerge, veterans drop off, etc. but the Brewers can no longer depend on the ineptitude of the Cubs and Pirates to keep them out of the basement.
  17. My question would be what veterans has he had to trade away? When the team sucked, it sucked. The players, outside of Ben Sheets, were terrible. Some are going to say he should've traded Prince or Hart and I'm not going to disagree with that but when your team is winning trading productive veterans for young guys is a real gamble. Also, just remembered he traded Dan Kolb for Jose Capellan. Ya, Capellan tanked but he was BA's the 25th rated prospected after the trade.
  18. So how is everyone going to feel when Doug throws the pick in to get a marginal prospect because he is ready to play in 2014?
  19. I haven't stayed on top of this whole thing but I think the only evidence is a list a players with dollar amounts by their name. I don't think they have any paper trail or anything other than list of names and some shady guy who has changed his story a few times. If there were other connections to PED's I've missed them but I'm pretty sure the only connection is that the guy who has the list has some connection to PED's. In terms of Kevin Bacon is seems like about 3rd degree.
  20. Whoever the pitchers are shouldn't matter. The infield defense has been pretty crappy for a few years now and needs to improve.
  21. There's a thread about this somewhere around.
  22. Whoever decided Neil Diamond should sing on the field during the game should be fired. I like Neil but that was stupid. The fans were dead and only cheered when they showed Mariano Rivera getting ready to come in.
  23. I wonder if we'll be saying the same thing about Nelson in a couple years. You could say the same thing about 2/3 of the pitchers in MLB. They almost all have "great stuff" it's just a matter of consistently throwing strikes and staying healthy.
  24. In this order... 1. Whoever is in charge of development for not developing anything resembling a major league pitcher 2. Melvin for not having acquired any semblance of a pitching prospect in years past 3. Mark A for wasting money and a draft pick on Lohse and trying to go for it last year and this 4. The veteran players for failing to perform 5. Bad luck with injuries to anyone and everyone 6. Ron Roenicke for being the same terrible manager he has been his whole time here
  25. I'm not saying it's a bad deal but is Altuve really worth locking up? It's not a lot of money for not very long but he just doesn't seem to me like someone you build around. I think most of his hype is because he's so short.
