  1. Definitely one of my top 5 reasons why I have no interest in going to a Brewer game anymore.
  2. Interesting to have Gamel in over Cain against a LHP.
  3. Over/under of number of diving catches and homeruns robbed and hit by Domingo in this series?
  4. Excited for The Detour to come back. The season premier was rather hum-ho and it will be interesting to see what they do now that they've completed the storyline from the first three seasons.
  5. In terms of filling a stadium, any new MLB city, whether through expansion or relocation, is probably going to struggle after the first year as attendance is down across the league. And I don't see that changing with ever increasing ticket prices and a millennial generation that just doesn't spend (or have) the money as generations before them or even really seems to care about baseball. Whatever new places get an MLB team will be all about sponsorship dollars and the TV deal.
  6. The juiced ball has gone beyond MLB. I was looking at the stats for the summer league I play in. Last year there were 2 HR's hit over 1256 PA. So far this year there's been 9 HR over 804 PA. And from what I've seen the pitching in the league is much better this year.
  7. I think back when the Sid Finch thing was out there were a lot of articles afterward about how it is physically impossible to throw much harder than 105, not sure that was their number but if Hicks was hitting it I will use it. I remember in the early 2000's some show did a study with Dr.'s and cadavers and they figured that the ligaments and tendons in a human arm couldn't hold up much past the force required to throw a ball 102 MPH.
  8. This is becoming quite common in all types of businesses, either adding a percentage surcharge for using a CC or giving a discount for using cash or check. Remember of course 5 or so years ago we were all being encouraged to use a CC for everything.
  9. Santana has a grand total of ZERO appearances as a DH this year. I'm not sure exactly what that means but I feel it is totally relevant to this discussion.
  10. I think a lot of it is just Stearns clearing out guys from the Melvin regime he wasn't in love with to bring in his own guys. Probably the same thing that happens every time a new GM takes over a team.
  11. Alienate the 10-12,000 people a night that come to the stadium now, a good chunk of whom I'm sure are fans of the opposing team? I don't think it really makes a difference nor does ownership care.
  12. Honestly, I think it's because they don't want to mess with the starter warming up. This is just my completely random personal thought on the issue however. It has no basis in real actual knowledge. The starter starts the game in the dugout. They can just switch spots when he's done throwing if that's the case. It just seems dumb to have your bullpen start the game in the dugout. It's very rare but sometimes you need a guy warming up in the first inning and then they need to run all the way across the field to do so.
  13. Why does the bullpen stay in the dugout until after the first inning and then walk across the field to the bullpen? Seems like it would make more sense for them to go out there before the game starts.
  14. The umpires union is upset that Many Machado only got a one game suspension for his tirade during the Rockies series claiming an "unsafe working environment" due to his meltdown. I won't totally disagree with that only because Many violently threw his bat, not at anyone, just haphazardly toward to backstop. Of course this is an organization that has zero accountability for its own members actions on the field.
  15. Forget about what he is or isn't doing offensively, he can only play one position and he's not even very good at that one position. The way the team is currently set up he's only going to play against left handed pitching and even then they've been using Grandal at 1st and could start Perez there too. He's not really hurting them roster-wise (unless you think he's keeping Huira in AAA, which is an understandable argument) but it's to the point where his 25 man spot might be better used on someone like Saladino.
  16. He's lost almost 4 MPH on his fastball over the last few years. Maybe he needs a mechanical adjustment but more than likely he's toast.
  17. Either the Brewers will light up the ole Bumhole because they destroy really good pitchers or they will get no hit because they can't beat crap teams.
  18. It seems like the amount of goals scored is a relevant number for advancing in the tournament. So there should be no issue with this. If the score was irrelevant other than who wins the game, there could be an argument.
  19. MLB needs to stop micromanaging stuff. If a team wants to have 17 or 18 pitchers on their roster, who cares. Let them do whatever they want.
  20. I would not be surprised if the Brewers get swept. This is the type of series we as fans go into expecting to take at least 2 of 3 but the Brewers crap the bed and get swept. Like against the Angels earlier this year.
  21. If you are trying to win a championship, go for the All-Star. One superstar doesn't win you a championship in baseball. The Brewers only made the playoffs twice with 2 superstars with Braun and Fielder.
  22. Starting caliber players are imminently replaceable. MVP-caliber ones typically are not. Yeah, the Brewers seemingly gave up good value. They got back incredible value. Still, it appears that all 4 of these guys stand a chance of being at least MLB regulars. That is pretty rare in a quantity for quality deal like this. Kudos to the Marlins for identifying four possible/likely future contributors for a guy they needed to deal. Kudos, too, to the Brewers for having a solid and deep enough system to be able to make this deal. Makes both teams look good. Im not taking one side or the other on the trade but to say starting caliber players are replaceable is not true. Just look at some of the well below replacement level crap we've run out there over the years. And superstars mean next to nothing in baseball if there aren't quality players and depth to surround them with.
  23. Yelich is amazing and it was a great trade for the Brewers. But if all 4 of those guys become above average players, what is better, one cheapish All Star or 4 super cheap MLB starting caliber players?
  24. Haven't watched an all star game of any sport in at least 5 years, probably many more. Couldn't care less.
  25. Prior to tonight the Brewer's DH's were ranked first out of all NL teams, tied with the Giants at 0.1 WAR. Somehow, though, the Brewer's DH's rank dead last in all of baseball in OPS at .304.
