  1. When you're shifting, the traditional naming of positions is pointless. I believe Shaw was playing the "SS" position a bunch of times prior to getting Moose.
  2. Hinch seems like a jerk as well. "We have technology to help you get better and that these pitches are strikes," Hinch said he told Hernandez. "He had kind of an arrogant attitude about it and didn't want to hear it." Seems like an incredibly stupid thing to say to an umpire. Maybe Hinch should let MLB handle umpire training or complain the them. That being said, Angel Hernandez is a disgrace. If what Hinch said Angel said to him is true, he admitted to making incorrect calls on purpose. He deserves whatever crap players and managers give him. Not just the worst umpire in baseball but probably one of the worst people in baseball as well. The game will be forever better once he's gone.
  3. So bad. And their attempt to analyze the Brewers minor system was embarrassing.
  4. At this point they could probably get more money waiting until the season starts and some team gets desperate after some injuries.
  5. This 3 batter minimum rule will not last long. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if it's scrapped before it's even implemented in 2020. I wonder what kind of influence coaches and front office people have because I can't imagine they would support this in any way. And I have no idea why the player's agreed to it in the first place. They just eliminated a bunch of player jobs held by righty/lefty specialists. The only way for this rule to have any meaning is for there to be consequences like a mandatory DL stint for any pitcher that doesn't face 3 batters. But then managers are faced with is my pitcher bad enough today that I don't want him available for the next two weeks. Then you have not injured players on the DL only because of this stupid rule and MLB has wanted to crack down on not injured players being DL'd anyway so what exactly is trying to be accomplished in the first place? Or even worse, your pitcher definitely feels off so you pull him early and after getting checked out he's fine and feels fine a couple days later but now he's gone for another 10 games or so when he really only should have missed 2 or 3.
  6. These rules are getting to NFL level stupidity.
  7. The Giants really don't seem to have much of a plan right now. They should be rebuilding but have held on to all their good players and signed a bunch of crappy veterans. I'd guess they're of the mindset right now that they would have to be blown away by an offer to trade Bumhole.
  8. Since this is ESPN I assume Derek Jeter, LeBron James, and Tom Brady are in top 100 as well?
  9. No he won't paid for those "games" but getting healthy quicker and perhaps even better will make up for it.
  10. Makes sense for him to try using something since he's currently rehabbing from TJ and the suspension will actually cost him zero games. As for Verlander, something about rocks and glass houses.
  11. I agree with this statement. When the show was on FOX, I would routinely have at least one or two loud belly-laughs per episode. This year, I've yet to really laugh much at all. A few giggles and that's been it. It almost seems like season 4 of Arrested Development where the actors were all busy and they couldn't ever get them together at the same time to shoot so each episode is like it's own side story about a character or two. I'm a couple behind but the last episode I watched had a lot of golden lines from Captain Holt trying to act undercover.
  12. That's interesting they replaced a tarp with another tarp. Obviously that means the signage is temporary but why and what else would they put there? It also probably gives you a little bit of a preview of what the new big league stadium logo will look like.
  13. This season of Brooklyn 99 has been rather meh. There's been way too many episodes which almost entirely focus on one character and whatever their "personal struggle" is at the moment. It's a comedy, make me laugh. If I wanted the feels I'd watch This Is Us or some crap like that.
  14. Not totally up on the Packers cap situation but would trading for Brown and giving him the contract he wants make any sense at all with Rodgers contract? Wouldn't that be like 1/5 of the cap tied up to two players?
  15. I'm a total Brian Anderson hater but boy nothing makes me miss him more than listening to Rock and Augustine trying to talk about baseball. Bill spent a whole half inning referring to Josh Tomlin as Josh Fields. Jerry called Jeremy Jeffress Jeremy Jeffries and threw out the most totally useless statistics like he just opened up Baseball-Reference every time a new pitcher came in so he could find something to say.
  16. Another great day at the plate and Keston has that OPS just under 1.000. I'm really looking forward to him forcing his way on to the roster this year.
  17. He was still really good last year but there were definite cracks showing and considering how bad the pitchers who signed during ST were last year I would hesitate to sign him. Especially to anything more than a one year deal. He could be really good or he could be Eric Gagne 2.0. Not sure if I want to pay to find out.
  18. Martin just hired Boras in August. That relationship didn't last long and ultimately went no where.
  19. IMHO take closer to 10+ mil. Still hoping we can sign him. No one is giving Gio $10M at this point of the year.
  20. I was going to suggest seeing if you could have it shipped to the post office and they would deliver it or you could pick it up. Since Amazon contracts with USPS they should ship to any PO Box. UPS and FedEx can't though.
  21. Career Spring Training Stats: Yelich - 309 AB, 847 OPS Huira - 50 AB, .889 OPS Big whoop, spring training, I know. But Huira's holding his own out there. For fun, Braun has OPS'd over 1.000 with 36 HR's and 109 RBI's in 439 career spring training AB's. A 1.000+ OPS over that many AB's is pretty impressive even if it is just spring training.
  22. Im trying to find it, but I read yesterday that he was clocked at 83/84 on those 3 pitches. Yikes. There were no gun readings on TV but he definitely did not look like he was throwing with 100% effort.
  23. Not sure why the biggest divas are WR's. They are the position that is most dependent on other players for success. They need a good QB to get them the ball, a good O line to allow the QB time to get them the ball, and generally speaking either a good running game to keep the defense honest or a pretty good WR playing opposite them to avoid constant double teams. Yet, they seem to think they are god's gift to football and every team should revolve around them.
  24. Carrying 3 catches is one of the dumbest things in baseball. The only way it remotely makes sense is if one of your catchers is one of the best overall hitters in baseball, regardless of position, and has some sort of very short-term injury where he can't catch but can still pinch hit. Otherwise you're setting up your roster based on one very unlikely scenario where you take your starting catcher out and your backup catcher gets injured or ejected. What are the chances of that happening - 1%, if that?
  25. It's super weird that they are only doing it in the 2nd half of the season, but yes it seems like they'll be moving the mounds back and the pitcher will throw from 2 feet further away. The only thing I can think of is that they don't want to mess with things and prevent guys from getting signed by major league teams. In theory, MLB teams have seen all they need to see after the first half so making the change in the second half shouldn't hurt guy's chances of getting signed. I also don't think changing the distance by 2 feet will dramatically change the results. Some guys probably won't be able to adjust but I would guess that overall offensive numbers won't go up that much. They may even go down. Yes, you have more time to react to a fastball but breaking pitches also have more distance to break. The one I find interesting is making the bases bigger. I would assume that's for safety but it also shortens the distance between home/first and third/home by 1.5 inches and first/second and second/third by 3 inches. I'm sure the benefit to the offense will be negligible in the numbers but it still is a benefit.
