  1. FYI, I got this the last two years and I thought it was a lousy service. I would get it again, but only as a last resort. You pick from a number of video feeds. And the screen stays fixed on the video feed you chose, which means you miss out on a lot of the in game action - balls in play. You know how when you watch a game on TV, the screen cuts from one feed to another to give you a good view of the game. This service doesn't do that. I almost thought it was a joke how painful it was to try and watch a game here. Nevertheless, if I'm living out of state without cable and no other options to watch the game, I guess it's worth the $5.99, barely. I'm curious what's taking TBS all this time to announce the schedule. I would have thought that they'd have the scenarios laid out before the regular season was even over, and then the schedule would be ready to go once the teams were set. Maybe it is on purpose, building up some anticipation.
  2. This is the lineup I'd like to see tomorrow: 1. Counsell, SS 2. Gomez, RF 3. JHJ, CF 4. Kotsay, 1B 5. Green, 3B 6. Wilson, 2B 7. Schaefer, LF 8. Maldonado, C 9. Fiers, P And I wanna see them win that game too. Go Brewers! Go Dodgers!
  3. That's kind of what I was thinking. Offense scored 8 runs. However, those were incredibly frustrating at bats by McGehe and Betancourt at the end of the game. The other thing I can't help but forget is the blown call by the ump on the D'Arnaud stolen base. He was clearly out number 3 on that play, I don't know what the ump was looking at. Then he goes on to score and the Brewers lose by 1 run. Annoying.
  4. Gold Glitter falling from the rooftop area!
  5. mlb.tv out. no at bat. watching cards lose (announcers talking about 3 way wild card tie scenarios ---yeeeeaaahhhh right). bf.net now my only source for updates please post.
  6. Is there anywhere online one can find sacrifice bunting stats such as: - sac bunt attempts by team - successful sac bunts - failed sacrifice bunts - end result of successful sac bunts (i.e. did the runner sacrificed to 2nd end up scoring) ????
  7. Good question. He wasn't even in the camera frame although he clearly should have been at least somewhere in the neighborhood of the ball. I thought it looked foul. Inning over.
  8. Maybe. I thought it sounded like a ridiculous stat. This would make a little more sense. Or they could just be completely wrong. Or I could need my ears checked.
  9. Nats announcers say insane statistic that Tim Hudson 143-2 in his career when his team scores 3+ runs.
  10. Matt Kemp .326/.403/.582/.985, 109 runs, 36 HR, 118 RBI, 40 SB Ryan Braun .330/.393/.594/.977, 104 runs, 31 HR, 104 RBI, 31 SB Yeah I don't know how people would be counting out Kemp. Statistically speaking I'd give him an edge. Braun has the winning team factor. I think it's still up in the air depending on how the final week plays out. If Braun wins the batting title that will help him. If he doesn't win the batting title, and Kemp continues his current tear, maybe Kemp is deserving.
  11. You also need to factor in Bronson Arroyo's splits. Bronson Arroyo vs LHB: 74 IP, 110 Hits, 23 BB, 57 ER, 22 HR, vs RHB: 101 IP, 97 Hits, 18 BB, 46 ER, 18 HR Great lineup by Roenicke with 6 lefties, it's paid off.
  12. Good call by Roenicke loading up the lineup with lefties
  13. Brewers 8-4 Cards 4-8 D-backs 7-5 Braves 4-8 Playoff clincher in Chicago. #2 seed obtained on the final day of season. Cards hot streak ends now. Also in the AL the Rays take 3-4 this weekend vs Boston to give us at least one exciting race down to the last day.
  14. I think Mayberry was out. This game should be 3-1, going into the 7th. (2-1 if Gomez takes a better angle there). Instead it'a 6-1, and I'm turning off. Narveson pitched a good game, doesn't seem that way.
  15. as much as I enjoy picturing the cards on a golf course in three weeks....it's worth noting that they've cut the braves wildcard lead to 6.5. the same braves team that probably hasn't left philly yet tonight, plays a double header in new york tomorrow, and then goes to st louis for three this weekend. 6.5 is still a lot, but the braves are struggling and have some injuries to their staff (I know they've got ridiculous youth/depth in the rotation, but still). Definitely not a great spot for the Cards, but they have to be feeling a lot better about their chances than they were 10 days ago. Highly unlikely, but that would be sweet if the brewers hosted the backs in the NLDS I stead of the braves, while the phillies and cards go head to head.
  16. I am considering this for a road trip actually. For tickets, I see that Stubhub has Infield Box seats starting at $22 and Field Box seats starting at $11 for this game compared to $45/$34 on reds.com, not including the fees. I imagine stubhub prices might drop even further closer to game day since the Reds are out of it. They also have bleacher seats available for 75 cents right now on stubhub. That's the first time I've ever seen tickets sold for less than $1, anywhere.
  17. If the point is to make reactionary post in the in game thread every time a pitcher gives up a few singles then sure I don't get it. 2 runs in 4 innings is not infuriating, and one of those runs is largely attributable to a bad throw on a stolen base.
  18. Weird, I enjoy watching Grienke pitch far more than any pitcher on the Brewers, and probably more so than just about any pitcher in the majors. You write this after he gives up two singles, in a scoreless inning? How infuriating is that? He refering to the fact that he can go from a #1 pitcher to a #5 and then back to #1 as if he is just bored. So those weak singles he's given up tonight have been due to boredom?

  20. Does anybody know around what is the ratio of Cubs fans to Brewers fans at Miller Park for this series? I used to hate it when it was like 50/50 or worse but imagine now there are far less Cubs fans. Hopefully when the Brewers play at Wrigley it will be 50% brewer fans there.
  21. Gamel/Green. Give them spot starts to keep them fresh like Roenicke is doing with Kotsay. Obviously this is more likely with Green than Gamel since Gamel hasn't played much OF and is pretty bad at 3rd. If people are going to use Kotsay's "clutch" hits this year to defend him and ignore his otherwise terrible season, why not look at Green/Gamel? They are both OPSing near or at 1.000. Sure it's AAA but I doubt Kotsay could OPS 1.000 in AAA and I would bet that both could OPS more than Kotsay's .650. I'm not saying that I'm not happy that Kotsay has gotten a few big hits. The problem is though, he's only gotten a FEW big hits. He's done nothing the rest of the year and probably will continue to play poorly. So while he may have contributed to a couple wins by getting the game winning/tying hit, his overall poor play has probably cost them more. It's just not as easily quantifiable/memorable because walk-off hits are easier to view as directly winning a game.George Kottaras was OPSing 1.000 in PCL Nashville as well.
  22. I read over on their board where they thought it might be middle of the pack. They will likely get a ton of picks after this year. I think they have something like 7 Type A or B free agents, but that is just what I read on their board. Berkman is also a free agent after this year so he will get a nice raise. Oddly enough he is only a Type B right now. Overall I think the Cardinals prospect system is pretty weak. Perhaps worse than middle of the pack, like bottom third. They do have Shelby Miller who should be a top 10 prospect next year (maybe even top 5), and potentially a top of the rotation guy in a couple years to replace Carpenter when his arm falls off. 3B Zack Cox is their only other guy who showed up lower on prospect lists, and he is having a pretty mediocre season at AA, not really a player to be afraid of in the future of the NL Central. I guess that if Pujols leaves they will have a huge gap to fill via free agency more so than within their own system, other than Miller.
