  1. He's thrown 10 innings the whole month of June or 1 inning every 2.4 days. I would hope he can handle at least that much and a little more if needed. I hope he is available tonight if there is a save situation.
  2. If nothing else, he has done a good job throwing runners out. He has thrown out 5 of 10 runners for a very good start on the caught stealing %, and as I recall several of those putouts came during clutch situations that could be considered a big help to Brewers pitchers.
  3. That's not at all what I heard. He likes the fact that they have to Liriano out after 5 innings. Nothing to do with Jim Thome / Nick Punto
  4. I don't really like the racing pierogies idea because you can't really distinguish between them. Sometimes when I'm at the Polish restaurant I will order a plate of mixed pierogies and until I bite into it I never know if I'm going for the potato pierogi or mushroom and kraut. Also, what do pierogies even have to do with Pittsburgh? Is that town known for it's pierogies any more so than, let's say, Brooklyn or Milwaukee? At least Milwaukee is known as a sausage town and especially for the bratwurst, and the Washington DC President's connection is clear... Until now I didn't realize the pierogi's visit Miller Park once a year. I'd like to see the Presidents race the Sausages when the Nats come to town. Anyway, too bad for this kid to make the facebook mistake. Sounds like he is a lifelong Pirates fan and now he may feel shamed everytime he watches his team.
  5. I’m not even sure if the Nats would trade Gallardo, Braun, and Fielder for Strasburg. What I would like to see is the Nats make a run for Roy Oswalt. I wonder if they have a fit. They already have a pretty decent lineup. If they could just get some additional rotation support to go along with Strasburg I could seriously see them competing in 2011. It seems like Steven Strasburg will add a ton of revenue to the team through ticket sales and etc, so they could also be buyers on the free agent market this offseason.
  6. It makes sense if you think about it like this. CC in the five hole is like batting the pitcher 8th and a hitter 9th, only in this instance Braun is the pitcher and you're clogging up the bases in front of your second #3 hitter Escobar who is actually the clean-up man because Braun (the pitcher) is hitting in the early 8 hole. I, for one, like our chances. Why not, I guess. But if Braun is the pitcher in this line-up, why is Wolf also in the line-up? Or is he playing left field? This is quite the zim-zam. Yeah I have no idea what this all means. However, Hart had the chance to drive in that run in the #2 spot so it is working so far.
  7. Except there's no room out there either. Hopefully Davis will agree to rehab assignment so they can park him there for a while. No, I think this is a no brainer. Davis to the bullpen when he comes back. They can make room.
  8. What a bummer. I had shut the game off after the Weeks and McGehe errors, but had hoped the Brew Crew could stage a comeback. What is up with Jason Hammell not allowing a run in like 3 or 4 starts? He's lousy. danG!!! Anyway, great game Manny Parra. And go get em tomorrow, at least we don't have to face Ubaldo
  9. ok this is frustrating, I am turning this off and going out. another hit?!!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS SCOREKEEPER!!! Parra still has a no-hitter going. This inning should be over.
  10. WEll what an unfortunate series of events leading to the first run... - First of all that was clearly an Error by McGehe, not sure why that was scored a hit. - Next play it looked like Braun dogged it in left, allowing Spillborgs to score from first, which wouldn't have happened if Lucroy fielded Escobar's throw cleanly. Escobar's throw could've been better too. Certainly not helping Parra out at all.
  11. Well, tough loss tonight but you've gotta be pleased with a series victory on the road at Anaheim. Another bad start for Narv-Dog and I fear he will lose his spot to DD. Go get em in Colorado, we're ducking Ubaldo this time so I like our chances I blame the loss tonight on the guy who said this before the game even started "The Crew has absolutely no chance to get this one, forgetaboutit." the name of this site is brewerfan.net. With fans like that it is tough to win
  12. just turned on the game, that was a really bad pitch on a 1-2 count to Frandsen WHY!!!!!
  13. Unfortunately I don't have the unlimited data plan now. I just have a regular crappy samsung phone and was thinking to get my first iphone the iphone 4 very soon when I'm 1 year into my 2 year contract and eligible for the deals with two year extension of course. I read specifically that streaming games from mlb.tv uses loads of data, several hundred megabytes per game. Other than that there isn't anything I would want the data for but that is unfortunate. I would be ok with the audio though.
  14. Doug Davis should not be inserted back into the rotation. Put him on the 60 day DL or in the bullpen and send Chris Smith back down, or trade him or DFA. I'm toggling between Brewers and Nats bobbleheadman. I'd say Strasburg doesn't look as sharp today, but he's only allowed two hits and has 8 k's through 5 1/3. He is really bothered by the mound, and seems to be trying to strike out every single batter.
  15. Thanks. Yeah, audio only... If 50 - 100 MB is correct, that's not so bad. As far as mlb.tv, my research tells me the video games could be up to 500 MB. That's too much with a 2 GB limit... I wish they kept the unlimited bandwidth.....
  16. Drab is right, along with grey, dull, boring, the Tropicana Dome does not provide a baseball atmosphere. I have been to Tropicana Dome and that is my feeling. It is the worst baseball stadium I've been to, worse than the Metrodome. When I was there I left the game in the 6th or 7th inning (I rarely to never leave games early) because it did not make sense to be sitting inside that ugly dome when the weather outside was so nice. They should have more fans though because they have the best managed organization in baseball and continually field an outstanding team. That said, we are not getting Jeremy Hellickson or any of their young pitching talent for Prince Fielder. Forget it.
  17. Does anyone know how many megabytes/gigabytes it takes to stream a mlb game on mlb audio? (at bat or whatever) ....Roughly.... I was thinking about getting the new iphone but the cost is per gigabyte now (2 GB for $25 and if you go over it is $10 per GB). I already know watching mlb.tv on this iphone would be out of the question for the most part. But if the audio takes up a ton of bandwith I will not be getting this, which will be lousy becuase I have another year on my contract but oh well.
  18. I guess that must be it. I'm not even sure what hdtv is yet. I thought it was fake.
  19. Worst picture ever. This looks like a cable access channel is broadcasting it. Which I guess WMLW practically is.I must be watching a different WMLW game. Mine looks fine. There was like one bad camera angle so far.
  20. OK, McGehe and Hart are probably playing a bit above their talent level. But McGehe has sustained a high level of play for a while now, I think he's a lot better than the experts here are giving him credit for. Hart is not necessarily the best homerun hitter in the national league, but if he keeps it up this wouldn't be his first time in the all-star game. Other than that I don't know who the people playing "well above expectations" are. The two best hitters on our team certainly aren't above expectations. Take Prince Fielder for example. After 61 games Prince has 10 HR and 22 RBI. So he is on pace to hit 26 homeruns and 58 RBI's. That would make Prince one of the lowest run producing first baseman in baseball. There's another thread about Braun being in the midst of one of his longest slumps since his rookie year.
  21. Boy did we luck out there --- both players were safe. Rickie did not make the tag on the runner or throw the ball to first in time. Didnt reach his glove out to tag the runner and the throw to first was lobbed, missed him by a step.... wow
  22. I’m very interested in this topic and a correlation of pitch counts vs injuries. You seem to have a lot of strong opinions on the topic but I am wondering if you have any more evidence to back up your conclusions. What is it about 130 pitches vs 100 pitches that leads to injury? What is the cut off point and what evidence is there to suggest this is it? Why does it make a difference if a pitcher is 24-25 vs 29-30? Why does it matter that Yovani threw the 3rd most pitches last year? What was the negative impact of that? In no way am I suggesting you are wrong, but at the same time I am interested in seeing some substantive evidence to back these complaints. If I were just to state my general observation, I would say that over my lifetime (I was born in 1980) I have seen more pitchers become injured at a time when pitch counts has declined. That is a negative correlation and the complete opposite. A lot of people say this but is it true and if so why is that happening? I was searching around for studies on the topic. I did find one article on the Hardball Times “Dusty Baker and Pitch Counts” ( ) which attempts a scientific study on Dusty Baker’s handling of pitchers and concludes that the “claim that Baker ruins pitchers' careers is hyperbolic at the least.” When coaching that Cubs team his starters threw something like 3.5 more pitches per start than the average team, which doesn’t seem significant. The Dusty Baker example is probably one of the most talked about example of managers ruining a pitchers arm with high pitch counts, and here we have a well known baseball journal saying that the complaints are hyperbole. This is another article on the hardball times that is more of a review of many studies and books on the topic (). Some of the most reputable baseball writers including Dan Molcolm and Bill James conclude that “the unprecedented pitch count limits employed in baseball over the past 15 years or so have been counterproductive.” I would like to see a study that draws conclusions from: - total number of starting pitchers to begin a year - number of SP injuries per year - pitch counts for SP who did and did not experience injuries - correlation to age and number of years pitching Obviosly there are limitations on the high end, but until I see a little bit more conclusive evidence, I feel like in general teams are wasting resources by sticking to strict pitch counts of 100 pitchers per game or whatever the round number may be.
  23. Is there any logical explanation for Jim Edmonds batting 6th instead of Corey Hart right now? I am trying really hard to rationalize that, but can't think of a single reason. Aside from that I like the lineup tonight. But it would've been nice to have Hart batting there instead of Edmonds.
  24. I think we're too quick to criticize Wolf here. No it wasn't a great start but a guy should be allowed to give up 3 runs without people jumping all over him. He could very well salvage a decent game here.
