  1. I'd find a 3rd team right now with a good farm system and work out a 3 team trade with Gomez going to that team and that teams prospects going to TB for David Price. Give up offense which we can do to get that top pitcher we need and move everybody in the rotation back a spot and FINALLY have pitching depth. Then I'd throw 7/160-175 million at Price to have him for the rest of his career. He is a pitcher I can see being worth the money Like CC Sabathia was. This will open the door for Tyrone Taylor.
  2. I can't fathom any team even considering trading for Weeks unless the Brewers threw in around 3-5 million. That's fine with me. Instead of having to pay him 10 million we can spend that 5-7 million elsewhere. Get it done.
  3. Wow, I'm shocked that Hart would chose the incentives over the guaranteed money. That's a gamble. Anyways Doug Melvin said he wants to find an established 1B man, and said, "we have tried enough non 1B man at 1B."
  4. Excellent point.
  5. It's nice seeing you contribute Colby. I mean it.
  6. I don't think any of the pitchers you mentioned will be in the rotation to start the season unless Estrada get's traded. I really believe the Brewers will add a good SP and that will make estrada the number 5, and the Brewers favor him over anyone else.
  7. Wow, now there's some hot stove optimism. I'm laughing right now because that comment of mine isn't far fetched at all. The Brewers a couple years ago had the second best offense in baseball and if you take ball park size out of the equation they had the number 1 offense with worse players than they have now. Since then we added Segura and Davis, and Gomez has met his potential.

  9. I think that was soooo this morning. Haven't heard anything about him being a priority since before lunch. #HotStoveDrama I know, but it sounds like the Brewers are desperately trying to find the right deal with Corey Hart. These other guys are back-up options. We will see if they can agree on a deal or if Hart just has a much better offer on the table from another team.
  10. According to the latest rumors the Brewers have high interest in Corey Hart. They are making him a priority.
  11. The only way I'd trade Ramirez is we had a good above average 3B prospect to replace him with. That's it.
  12. Doug Melvin will never trade Gomez or Segura. Why? It's very rare to have that kind of talent at the two most talent needed positions on the Diamond. It's a necessity.
  13. As pointed out the Logan Morrison trade thread - Hart would be a nice story, but this team really needs a left handed bat. Right now, we just have Scooter (assuming he starts at 2B). 1B is the only place open. In 2013, we had the best OPS in the NL when facing lefties. When facing righties, it was 9th. Hart would be great on one level, but I think the team really needs to find a left handed bat to fill 1B. Why would any of what you said matter if Hart came back to the Brewers and the Brewers regulars were healthy? We would have the best offense in the NL and likely baseball. Now imagine adding Khris Davis to that equation. A guy who Doug Melvin said publicly can hit 25+ HR's and drive in 85 RBI's, and were willing to trade Aoki to give him that chance. I say put some lefty's in your bench for reserves and that's good enough.
  14. Price won't be a FA until after the 2015 season. He will have 5 years of service time after 2014. Am I missing something?
  15. He's giving a team 1 year of price at 16 million for 2014, then he will be a FA in 2015. There's a huge difference. If you say TB can afford Prices 2013 salary, then why would they want to risk a significant drop in the front of their rotation when they can have Gallardo for 10 million a year for 2 years, and likely re-sign him for the same price per year on top of it? It's still a drop in production, but it's manageable. We could always sweeten the deal with Thornburg, Taylor and some other prospects. The thing is if we include Gallardo in this deal we don't have to give up nearly as much in terms of prospects. Hardly any at all. The question for TB is how relevant do they want to be in the short term.
  16. It's not about laughing, because we are talking 2 years of Gallardo compared to 1 year of price at 16 million. It's a matter if the Rays want more top prospects or if they view Gallardo as a affordable long term option, which Price isn't.
  17. It's going to happen regardless (gutting the system). We all know DM will trade for a SP.
  18. Trade idea - Gallardo + Hellweg + Mitch Hanigar + Taylor for David Price. Gallardo is signed for 2 more years and Price is controlled for only 1 more year. TB wants prospects so we can include prospects. TB doesn't want to pay prices salary for next year which should be over 12-15 million in Arbitration. TB could easily re-sign Gallardo for his current salary or trade him. they don't really down grade their rotation significantly, and get a good pitching prospect with 2 good positional prospects to boot. It's a win win. The Brewers need an ace to go along with Peralta and Lohse. Doug Melvin said after the Braun extension that if the right player came along he would consider a mega deal for him. Prices agent isn't Boras, so a deal could be worked out. Likely 7/160. The Brewer are getting 26 million in additional revenue per the new MLB TV deal, and with their new tv deal. They have the money. Ramirez, Weeks and Lohse are gone after 2015 and that is a savings of 37 million right there. With the salary increases after 2015, which add up to 14 million, so that leaves 23 million. By replacing Gallardo's 11 million with a Price 22-25 million you can subtract 14 million from the 23 million and your left with 9 million then add the extra 26 million in revenue and you get about 35 million to work with after Price. By this time we will have a strong core of Price, Peralta, Estrada, Nelson, Thornburg, Gomez, Segura, and Braun, which in my own opinion is better than our last core of players we built around. Should Ramirez and Lohse put up another good year in 2014 we can trade them both to re-stock the farm or should we be out of it by mid-season we can trade them then.
  19. Wow, guess you won't be wasting time buying tickets, watching on TV, listening on the radio. Gee, we should just shut down this forum. Thanks for clearing that up... This got a chuckle out of me. Fans are going to be pleasantly surprised by this Brewers team this year. However, if they are surprised they really shouldn't be if they actually paid attention to what happened last season, the good, and also paid attention to what Doug Melvin has done since 2008. Mainly the parts about getting what the team needs to contend.
  20. I didn't factor Aoki's 2012 at all actually. I was only using Braun, Ramrez, and Harts career norms in the runs scored column only and comparing it to this season. This is what they have done in their previous multiple years. Even if you subtract let's say 20 runs like in 2011 you get the top offense in the NL. It's what we should expect.
  21. Where do you get 10-15 wins? Please break it down. I think you are overvaluing the contributions of any one player. I don't know about 10-15 wins but he's not talking about losing 1 player. He's talking about losing 3 and probably your 3 best hitters. Exactly. How many wins do you think Ryan Braun is worth in a full-season alone? How does having him in the line-up affect the rest of the line-up? Had he'd been playing we would likely have had scored 78 more runs (38 of those via the HR ball), and he would have driven in 74 more runs. 78 more runs would put the Brewers in second place in Runs scored in the NL. Add in Ramirez and that's 50 more runs, then add Hart and then we are in 1st place with 859 runs scored compared to the Cardinals 783. It's not even close. The Brewers are only 7th in runs allowed last season, and Peralta/Gallardo had a poor 1st half. I wouldn't expect that from Peralta next year. he's just going to get better. Gallardo second half was more like his career norms. That right there alone is HUGE. Add in another pitcher like Lohse and we are somewhere between 3-5th in runs allowed in the NL with the best offense in the NL/Baseball. We are just fine.
  22. Looking at the prospect we have I'd be fine with trading any of them in any combanation. Likely have to include Jimmy Nelson, then just keep adding. If our system is as bad as they are suggesting why not just go for it and start at the lower end of the minors (rookie ball/a-ball) and rebuild it in the next 2 years through the draft and through some trades of some mlb players. I'm not worried about losing player in the minors. Most of those positional prospect we have in the system are blocked anyways. Hanigar, Taylor are both blocked for 3+ years. Hellweg looks to be a year or two away. Nelson and Thornburg are the only one who are mlb ready. The pitcher we will get we will likely trade for. Also instead of just saying that there is homerism going on in this thread you need to point it out or not say that at all.
  23. Losing the players we lost mainly in the middle of the line-up costed us 10-15 wins. A ton of wins. That is us missing some serious production. With a healthy line-up which is what we should have had heading into this season Gomez's numbers should actually increase. That what a great line-up will do to everybody in it. I said this before and I'll say it again the Brewers rotation dramatically improved in the second half, so much so that it was BETTER than the Cards, so how a poster can be cautious with what they expect with the rotation next season is beyond me. We should be ecstatic right now by what we have prospects included, and by adding another Lohse type it will be complete. Gallardo did lose velocity and that's what he struggled with in the first half, but he learned to pitch, which is what all players who lose that over powering fastball have to do and he had a very good second half. That is what we should expect moving forward. There's plenty of reasons to be very hopeful, now Doug Melvin needs to do his job and keep this team in tact and add a starting pitcher and get depth.
  24. If you are only looking at performance you are completely missing the point of why people think it was a bad signing. It was a bad signing because of what we gave up and the talent on the team. No I'm not missing anything.. This team has a lot of talent on it and most of it we missed for the majority of last season. Like I said all we need is 1 SP, bullpen help, and Hart and we will be fine. Based on how good Lohse has been should we have a good season in 2014 you'll all be changing your tunes, and I think it's pretty likely.
  25. Staying helthy is always a big iff to any team. I have reasons why I don't mention it. Ramirez had a better second half and was injured during the first. The third thing you mention is a possibility and an if, but considering their talent level I'm not worried and actually some of them I think will do better. The career norms I look at are tell me Ramirez, Braun, Lucroy will be pretty damn good. As for Gomez he might lean back towards his career norms, but he's in his prime and I wouldn't think it will to drastic.
