  1. Is that correct that Estrada is topping out at 89MPH?
  2. The Brewers new tv deal gives them 20 million, and the old Mariners deal gave them 45 million (450/10= 45). Am I missing something or could the Brewers have gotten way more money...
  3. To be completely honest this is just a template. I'd be down with making the second FA year guaranteed if Segura wanted more guaranteed money. For the poster that said he compares close to Starlin Castro I actually agree in terms of ability and future production, but.. Here is where it's different, Castro at the time when he signed his deal in August of last year, basically had a year and a half under his belt with close to 390 hits over that time frame, with an OBP averaging .335, 65-80 RBI's each season,a ton of extra base hits, and he was stealing 20-25 bases. It was not a true pre arby deal with him. They signed him after we all knew what he was capable of. Late. They should have done it sooner, and could have saved 20 million. Right when we are realizing what Segura is capable of, which is right now, that is the time to sign him. Not after he's already done it. I'm saying that the Brewers need lock up Segura after only 214 AB's. Before he's broken out at the major league level. Before he knows what he's capable of, because once he breaks out you can just go ahead and add 20 million to my original proposal.
  4. I'd get this done ASAP. I'd do a Alcides Escobar type deal (4 years 10.5 + 2 option years/11-12 million combined) = 21 million, but I'd add 3-4 years too it. Something like this, 2013 - 0.5 million 2014 - 0.5 million 2015 - 2 million 2016 - 3 million 2017 - 4.5 million 2018 - 6 million (Guaranteed FA year) 2019 - 7.5 million (option year) 2020 - 7.5 million (option year) 2021 - 8 million (option year) That means 5 arbitration years + 1 FA year is guaranteed at a total of 16.5 million. The final 3 years should be club option years at a total of 23 million. This could potentially be a grand total of 39.5 million. I believe that these salary figures for the Arby years is a discount. However, that's not necessarily what's important about this deal, but rather controlling an above average SS we'll into FA, at a potentially severe discount. To put this in perspective, JJ Hardy is making 7.5 million in FA, and I believe that Segura will hit for a much better average and his OBP will be much better, and he has speed. Just lacks power right now. The reasoning behind this is as follows, 1.) Segura plays great defense. I've seen enough of him to know this already. 2.) He can hit, and has a good eye at the plate. Each game that goes by it's becoming more and more clear. 3.) This deal should buy out 4 years of FA. The Brewers finally have an above average SS, and they need to keep him for as long as they can afford to. They need to take advantage of this and lock him up. He plays a premium position. 4.) Should Segura start showing power, which it's likely in my opinion he will, then this contract is an out right steal, and we will control him till age 32. At a time when he might start losing speed, which would be one of his biggest tools. 5.) Should he not show power, we are only committed to 16.5, and the first 3 FA years are affordable, and could very much be worth it. This is a fair deal and both party's will benefit.
  5. FWIW, you know that your Grandpa.can get arrested.for OWI on his motor-powered.bicycle, right?? Oh, shoot. Ah.. No, I didn't know that, and I feel like an idiot for not thinking about that. I screwed up on this one. He seemed pretty happy that he got it. We will see how long it lasts. I could tell him that he could still get arrested, but I don't think he'll listen.
  6. Oh my god I can't stop laughing.... I was on cloud 9 after the Brewers win, but now I'm all the way to the moon after this one. Absolutely hilarious.
  7. rluzinski, I'd bet you 2 Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, but I just can't stop eating them. I'm going to disagree with you and just hold firm to my belief that Segura will be a better hitter than Weeks this season. Segura just combines plus contact w/ plus speed to not be highly productive at the plate and on the base paths. The kid obviously knows what he's doing at the plate, and he's only 23 years old. Amazing. He's not going to put up Weeks power numbers or walk as many times as Weeks (I could be wrong about this part), but he can make up for it in other ways. Segura is going to be a hitting machine. The strike outs will obviously be a lot less than Weeks. I'll put it this way if Segura bats ahead of Braun at the #2 spot he will be more productive at the plate than Rickie Weeks. If Weeks bats at the #2 spot and Segura bats after Hart/Lucroy, then it will be close, but I see Weeks coming out on top (only if he gets his act together and gets back to previous form).
  8. He only needs to be good for 2 for the contract to be a success.
  9. Exactly. You look at there behavioral patterns. FYI, he is disagreeing with you. Then he or you didn't read/ or understand my previous post. I mentioned looking at a persons behavioral patterns. How the person keeps acting over and over again.
  10. I may need to re-think my reasoning in the DUI thread if this is true... Lol..
  11. Sounds like a good way to make big decisions. Considering Weeks is not clutch at all, you bet it is. I have to admit, though, that was the best AB in a long time for Weeks, even though he got out. He FINALLY was able to catch up with mid-90's heat instead of swinging late by 2 feet.
  12. If Weeks doesn't come through here he can bat right in front of the pitcher 8th. He needs to be done with the clean-up spot.
  13. Beautiful AB Schafer. Took 2 balls, and forced the pitcher to throw a strike, then was prepared to swing if the next pitch was a strike and wen the other way. Perfect AB.
  14. Must be one of those drunk fans I've been talking about. A few guys have been making some noise behind home plate; especially after Lohse issued back to back balls to those first 2 batters that reached base.
  15. Yeah, I was in shock that the Angels agreed to trade him for Greinke. I think that it is going to end being one of the all-time worst trades ever for the Angels. They traded a very talented SS for a few months of Greinke. The Angels failed to make playoffs and failed to keep Greinke. That's pretty bad. Segura's got the potential to be a superstar. Melvin did a good job with that trade. Segura was always a solid prospect, but never a top prospect. He was never inside the top 50 and 2012 was his first year at SS. I think he will be great, but it wasn't like the Angels gave us a top 5 guy at the time the trade was made. Because Segura's 1st year at SS was 2012 the prospect rankings are meaningless to me. I knew once he found a position and was healthy, the sky was the limit with him. He's grown as a hitter since the trade like many thought he would, and the power will follow in time. He's a great prospect. Top tier talent.
  16. Lucroy is getting a lot of pitches to hit on the outside part of the plate. If he made a decision to go the other way more he'd be a hit machine.
  17. Segura is going to be really really good. He's got great speed, a strong arm, excellent range, and he can hit. Yeah, I was in shock that the Angels agreed to trade him for Greinke.
  18. Segura almost got that and he was on the other side of the IF... Amazing coverage that kid has.
