  1. Mauer with a really good AB that lead to a walk. Bases juiced for Stanton. 1 out.
  2. Jones just got screwed on that 3rd strike call to end the 7th. Talk about killing any hope they have. That's just wrong.
  3. Is Olmstead still a dark horse for the bullpen or is he now a lock. That's the question I want to know. I love that his walks are low and his strike outs are high and he has a history like that. No control problems.
  4. I'm personally really high on Logan Schafer, but this move is forcing me to take a step back and maybe agree with you. The only thing I thought that Gomez has on Schafer was the power difference and a little bit better glove. However, Schafer has better plate discipline and is a smarter base runner (1st to 3rd etc). They both have great defense, and speed. Slight edge to Gomez, because he's proven more in the Majors and the potential is still there for improvement. It's a close call. Is that difference worth 24 million that was just committed? You make the call. I'd like to see Gomez improve more on plate discipline and base running. He doesn't need to improve that much on these to be worth 7-8 million a year.
  5. David Wright is the reason why the USA team has made it this far.
  6. USA leading 3-0 in the top of the 6th.
  7. They believed the same thing last year and how did that turn out? There is no reason to think the bullpen is in good shape. To the contrary there's no reason to believe the bullpen is in bad shape heading into the season, either. The Brewers got rid of practically everybody except Axford, and added pitchers that are better than the pitchers they were replacing, and who have more experience to boot. If anything it's likely they will be better, but how much better is up for debate. Plus, you just never know what you are going to get in a bullpen, because player performances very quite a bit year to year. Instead of declaring it a good or bad bullpen which you and me really have no clue, because the season hasn't even started yet, it's wiser to take the wait and see approach. Let this "new" bullpen prove itself. That's what I do every year.
  8. Hey! So the majority of posters in this thread who have commented (except 1) on the Brewers bullpen have issues with mainly Axford? That must mean many feel our bullpen is in pretty good shape heading into the season. That must be a good sign.
  9. Wow. That would be horrible news for the Dodgers...
  10. I don't know how anybody can say the Brewers bullpen is awful right now prior to the season even starting. It doesn't make sense.
  11. I thought it was gone when he hit it and it hooked at the last minute. Sounded beautiful. Pure hit.
  12. That David Wright Grand Salami was something special. 6-2 USA now in the bottom of the 5th.
  13. Somebody needs to pinch hit for Phillips. He's been terrible today. No contact at all.
  14. Why am I thinking that he's going to go back to broadcasting golf when I read the title of this thread?
  15. Man, I wish. There's so much more to do and the beach. One can dream.

  17. I'm scared and I'm holding my breath. This could be devastating.

  19. Splitter, This was also my fathers best Brewers memory of all time. Best Baseball fans were Brewers fans back then. Our fans really need to get even crazier and louder during the games. Not just playoff games, but regular season games as well. The potential is there we just need to let it out. I wish there was video of the games in 78 and 79. That would be amazing footage that every Brewers fans should see.
  20. Now Ramirez "strained his knee" sliding into 2nd base. Good god, what next, another torn ACL? Perhaps it's too early to be sliding just yet in spring training camp?
  21. Are you the same one who said that Hart was sandbagging in the offseason too? Sometimes guys get hurt. Ben Sheets got hurt a lot. It happens. Everybody's body is different. Sometimes fluke things happen. No that wasn't me. How many times does a fluke incident need to occur before someone says something else must be going on? It's my opinion, but I just believe Gamel's off-season conditioning isn't good enough and makes him vulnerable to injury's. If He did come back to soon from the injury then that's his fault. He should have requested more time. He'd miss some of the season, but it's worth it in the end. 8 months instead of 12? Yeah...
  22. Gamel always has some kind of injury in Spring Training. It's reasonable to suspect somethings wrong with his off-season conditioning or he's just too lazy in the off-season. His career with the Brewers is over and I'm not that sad about it.
  23. I feel the same way about the Gamel injury. They don't take conditioning seriously and come into camp out of shape.
  24. Bruce Seid has been the scouting director since 11/10/08. That's what, 4 years? Is that enough time for him to prove himself? I'm not so sure. I look at the farm system and it's potential to break out this year and should that happen there will be fans saying he's doing a pretty good job; especially with all the pitching breakthroughs to the majors that happened last season. Even though he didn't draft some of these guys, he's likely had some input on them that might have had an effect on how they were handled. I just think it's too soon.
  25. I thought it was their best analysis on the Brewers that they have ever done. Whether you think that's saying much us completely up to you. The reason why they did a good job is because they really didn't make a prediction that they were comfortable with. They said 3 place behind the Reds and Cards, but they said they just don't know that much about the starting rotation to predict. They were high on the offense as they should be and said that it has the potential to be even better than last season. They mentioned the additions of Bradenhop and Gorzelanny, but failed to mention Mike Gonzalez for some reason? They thought Axford would bounce back to 2011 form and said that would be huge, because they blew 29 games last season. They mentioned Peralta, Rogers, Fiers, Estrada (good stretches and bad streches (inconsitancy's)), and Narveson and them really counting on him because he's the only lefty in the rotation. Basically starting pitching = ?, which means prediction = N/A. They have no clue.
