  1. Just wanted to point out that partial season ticket holders should the Brewers make the playoffs in 2011 will probably be stuck in the Terrace level seats in the stadium according to the Brewers website, Is anybody else upset by this? This doesn't make any sense to me... link
  2. Brewers trying a one of a kind season ticket promotion, JS link
  3. I'd like to see a quote from some scouts that say Rogers is Guaranteed to get injured again due to his mechanics. Until then I'm forced to assume he is healthy after pitching 126IP last season and the fact that he has his velocity back. I understand when you have bad mechanics you are more likely to get injured, but that doesn't guarantee he will and it doesn't mean we should be expecting it. There is a big difference between the two statements. I'm in the camp that says that Rogers is very underrated going into next season. I think he will make a big impact with the Brewers and surprise many.
  4. Depends on who is replacing that pitcher.
  5. I'm aware of that theBruce44. If Rogers continues where he left off it's going to be very hard to keep Rogers out of the rotation no matter how well Narveson is pitching. I could see the Brewers trading Narveson mid-season if he is pitching well to make room for Rogers. That is how much I think Rogers is favored by the Brewers. Time will tell, so we'll see.
  6. Villanueva and Parra also looked like awesome starting pitchers in September callups. I wouldn't read to much into anything done in September. They were also given fair opportunities to start in the Brewers rotation. That's where Rogers is headed.
  7. Mark Rogers imo is going to have a big impact in the Brewers starting rotation in 2011. He didn't "start" a couple games in Milwaukee for nothing. Not to mention hitters looked completely lost when facing him in September 2010. He practically pitched a no hit game 9IP no hits. Rogers was fully healthy in 2010 by pitching close to 130IP and the fact that he has his high 90's velocity back. I think he can pitch close to 160IP in 2011. He could push the Brewers rotation to a whole new level. The Brewers will in all likelihood give him a good shot to start in there rotation sometime early in 2011. Narveson will have a hard time getting or keeping that 5th spot in the rotation, because of it.
  8. The Brewers system isn't as bad as people are portraying it to be. The Brewers have pitching in the upper parts of the system including Rogers, Rivas and Peralta. The Brewers are very deep in pitching in the lower parts of the system and next season if some players step up people will be signing a different tone. The Brewers also have Gennett and Schafer who IMO will be the next top prospects in 2011. The Brewers player development plan is very good and is paying dividends and will continue to pay dividends. I'm not worried about the Brewers system at all to be completely honest.
  9. I tried to tell people not to count the Brewers out as a possible destination for Greinke. Doug Melvin's comments spoke volumes. He was quoted saying that 24 pitchers he looked into had no-trade clauses that included Milwaukee and that included Roy Halladay. He went from saying that to saying no-trade clauses can be worked around. His latest comment was recent and I smelled that something must have changed...
  10. The Brewers still have Rogers and Rivas who are the closest SP's to the Majors. That gives me much needed comfort.
  11. **Disclaimer: This is a rumor that has not yet been confirmed from within the organization, but I feel comfortable enough with the information and the source to publish this rumor. Please just keep in mind that this is only a rumor and should be treated as such until further notice.** From bernies crew blog and jim, link
  12. From Jim Breen, "Source tells me #Brewers have traded SS Alcides Escobar, CF Lorenzo Cain, and RHP Jeremy Jeffress for RHP Zack Greinke, SS Betancourt + $2M." "Still has not been confirmed w/in organization, but the rumor is the deal will be announced on Monday. #Brewers" link link
  13. I'm sure everybody would love to know what Jim Breen knows including Tom H, Gammons, Heyman, McCalvy and everybody in the baseball nation. Just a hunch... :>)
  14. Jim Breen is a very good Brewers writer over at Bernies Crew. He used to post quite frequently over at sportsbubbler.com. He isn't one to say something unless he can back it up. I'm interested in what he find out.
  15. Doug Melvin was quoted saying that teams can get around no-trade clauses and I believe he was asked that question in reference to the Greinke situation. No-trade clauses are a good negotiating tool. It also sounds like Zach Greinke will consider any team as long as he can get out of KC. I'm not going to rule the Brewers out till Greinke signs elsewhere.
  16. Hardy was just traded again for basically nothing so although people like to romanticize Hardy he just doesn't seem to have a lot of value in trades. Gomez can play excellent Defense in CF and can run like the wind, I'd take him over Dickerson as a 4th OF. Dickerson was not impressive at all in CF defensively or offensively. According to some of DM quotes it sound like Gomez will get more playing time then people think in CF, because the Brewers aren't ready to just give it to Cain. This is why I have such a distaste for this signing. I believe that Cain deserves a fair shot because imo his plate discipline is way better than Gomez which will lead to him getting on base and etc.. Cain has plus speed and can play plus defense in CF as well as Gomez. Cain is more of a complete player. Gomez also has a poor attitude. Last August when Cain took over for him in CF Gomez was quoted saying that "I'm is the best CF on the team". I don't like his attitude and I think he is delusional to be completely honest. He's not very smart. He's a head case. I also remember him running into a lot of outs on the base paths. Making some really stupid base running mistakes. I will admit that he is a good base stealer, but at the same time I will also admit that I think he is a bad base runner. He should not see any significant playing time and if he does it's a big mistake. I wouldn't have signed him even if he made the minimum salary.
  17. Cain Weeks Braun Fielder McGehee Lucroy Hart Escobar P
  18. I think we have seen that Melvin will cut his losses on bad players even at great cost. He did get rid of Hall and Suppan.Only after a long long time... Doug Melvin has cut his losses on expensive players, but only after keeping them way to long. Especially with Suppan and Hall.
  19. The potential argument for Gomez has run it's course. I don't like him and he sucks. I feel the only reason why Doug offered him a contract was because he doesn't want to say that the Hardy trade was a bad trade.
  20. I still don't understand why Doug Melvin tendered him a contract with how bad he was last season....
  21. Tom H confirms that Greinke fired his agent and demands a trade out of KC. Tom H blog
  22. dlk9s, I think both Garza and Greinke will cost the same in terms of prospects. I'd rather have Greinke especially if an extension is possible. Greinke would be a bigger statement to Brewers fans in general.
  23. Trade Cain and stick Hart in CF and Gamel in RF. If the Brewers trade Escobar they need to sign a player who plays good defense to replace him. Doesn't have to be a big bat or anything special in that regard. The Brewers will survive. I don't really expect much out of Escobar or Cain for that matter in 2011 anyways. Escobar has been struggling as of late and in regards to Cain who knows how well he will do in 2011? Another option would be a 3-team trade.
  24. For what I've heard I highly doubt he'd ok a trade to New York and it sounds like even the Yankees have their doubts. The fact that Doug Melvin wasn't concerned about the no-trade clause really interests me. Especially after he made such a stink about the fact that there were 24 pitchers he looked at that had no-trade clauses that included Milwaukee and referenced Roy Halladay situation as an example. I don't think Doug Melvin is done with Greinke at all.
