  1. I can see the Brewers offering between 130-150 million guaranteed for fielder with an option and that might get Fielder and Boras to listen and consider staying a Brewer. I'm not going to rule it out. I don't think the market is there for him to receive 8/180 like what Boars was asking for. Plus Fielders down year in 2010 makes that even more true. Chances are still not in the Brewers favor, but I do believe the Brewers chances are better than many think. It will be interesting to see what happens.
  2. I actually think Prince Fielder lives in Florida. I know I heard that somewhere... twobrewers, it's very unprofessional for Fielder to be marketing himself when he is still under the Brewers control for 1 more season especially at the GM mettings. I doubt that is what they are doing.
  3. There are trades that can be contingent on an extension.
  4. It's about time they talk to weeks about an extension. I was getting worried there for a moment.
  5. Does anybody know if Fielder lives in Florida? I thought I heard somewhere that he lives in the TB area?
  6. I don't think arbitration has anything to do with it. Why would Fielder travel to Orlando to the GM meeting s to address arbitration. That doesn't make any sense to me. Could be a sign and trade I guess. Wouldn't we have heard something already if that was the case?
  7. Weeks is going to be very good and he will be worth more than 50 million. This last year imo is a taste of what he will offer. Once Weeks moves out of the leadoff spot he will imo be even more productive and valuable. The Brewers if they're smart will re-sign him now even at 50 million.
  8. Heyman just tweeted, "prince fielder spotted eating with scott boras at hotel. no word on whether prince stuck to veggies."
  9. The fact that Fielder made it clear that he is his own boss and that Boras works for him and you combine that with Fielder and Boras being at the GM meetings it makes you wonder if the Brewers are getting serious in regards to an offer for Fielder.
  10. I was wondering if you could provide a link Invader3k?
  11. Prince and Boras must be there to talk contract extension. There is no other reason for them to be there.. The Brewers must be making one last push.
  12. Not surprised at all. He deserves it. He lead is all most every category including no hitters/perfect games.
  13. I forgot to post this in the other thread in the Major League forum, but the fact that Fielder is there with Boras is very significant. Fielder must mean business ;>)
  14. Weeks is the hardest worker and I agree that he is the heart and soul of the team. I believe that we have only begun to see what Weeks can really do over a full season. It would be a huge disappointment if the Brewers don't re-sigh him at all costs. I have a strong feeling the Brewers will regret it if he walks.
  15. I'd do that Uggla deal with Weeks in a heart beat. Weeks is just going to get better and better, and he has some serious power.
  16. Very interesting. I believe very strongly that we haven't seen the final offer for Prince Fielder. I mean if the interest isn't there to get a good enough return by trading him then you have two options, 1.) hold onto him and take the picks. 2.) you try hard to re-sign him.
  17. I just thought I'd bring up this thread again. I mean almost everybody assumes that Fielder is not going to be a Brewer next season. Now Doug Melvin makes a comment saying that Fielder isn't being shopped. I'm wondering a few things, 1.) Can Boras really get Fielder 8/180 million like he says? Is there a team that will pay that for Fielder especially with the other top 1B man on the market around the same time? I'm starting to question it. 2.) Has that 8/180 million figure dropped over the last year? Has Fielders value gone down? 3.) The Brewers were prepared to add a 6th year to their 5/100+ million offer to Sabathia according to Doug Melvin. That would have brought the total to 6/120-130 million. I have heard Doug Melvin say that there is more risk with offering a big contract like that to pitchers than hitters, so maybe they will go higher for Prince? I don't think we have seen the final offer for Prince Fielder yet. Maybe a 6 year 150 million contract with an option for a 7th with a big buyout? That would be bigger than what Howard got... I don't see the Brewers going higher than 6 years guaranteed for Fielder. 4.) Does anybody think that if Weeks was re-signed that Fielder would be more inclined to stay? 5.) Who would be interested in Fielder when he is going to make 16+ million next season and his agent is Boras and he is 1 season from FA? seriously... The Brewers would be better off holding onto him and getting 2 first round picks. I'm starting to think that it is either re-sign Fielder or let him walk and take the picks as the options...
  18. There is going to be a lot of interest in Lawrie this off-season IMO. A lot. Toronto was also rumored to want him.
  19. I don't believe that Braun is off the trade market. If Weeks, Mcgehee and Fielder are on it then Braun must be also, right? Rosenthal is thinly sourced, which is why I'm not going to take his word for it that Braun is off the trade market. It's not likely that Braun gets traded for the reasons you already mentioned. However, if there is any team that can pay Braun to waive his no trade clause it is Boston.
  20. The Brewers offered Sabathia a little more than 5 years 100 million, and they were seriously considering offering a 6th year until they saw the Yankees offer and backed out. "Finally confirming his offer to be for five years and "slightly over" $100 million, Melvin said his delegation had been debating whether to add a sixth year to that bid. Before hearing of the Yankees' deal, Melvin said adding another year was under serious consideration." link
  21. No player other than Gallardo IMO is safe from being traded. So to suggest that Braun could be traded is realistic even though it isn't likely to happen. Gamel and Lawrie won't be able to make up for the loss off Braun and Fielders production and I haven't heard anybody say they will. Another route the Brewers could take is the use the available payroll money and sign some offense if they can't count on Gamel or Lawrie in the short term. No way the Brewers trade Braun and Fielder if they don't have legit back-up options. I highly doubt the Brewers are throwing Braun out there to see what they can get, but rather team or teams are asking about him. I don't see anything desperate about that.
  22. I would love for the Brewers to sign Crawford if they trade Braun, but they seem to be unwilling to go above 100 million. Crawford would be a perfect fit for Roenicke style of play that he wants to impose on this team. Perfect.
  23. What does this mean? Usually it will say "full" or "limited" no-trade clauses, but this is sorta in between..
  24. Does anybody know if Braun's no-trade clause is a full no-trade clause?
  25. If the Brewers had legitimate back-up options I could see them pulling the trigger and trading Fielder AND Braun to Boston for IMO 2 of the best pitchers in the AL. Probably won't happen, but I'm just thinking outside the box. Heck I'd even add a top prospect like Jeffress to that package if the Brewers could get Lester and Buchholtz.
