Trading players at the right time
HiAndTight replied to EdRomero11's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Just reiterating what I said in the last post in which you suggested this, but I agree with you 100 pct. I love Gallardo and have actually seen a lot of growth from him this year even if his numbers may not suggest it. He's a #2 on a true contender(though I could see him breaking out and having a few year stretch where he's a #1). But as reliable as he is an as good as he's been right from the outset, from his first start, he's been a reliable innings eater, great strikeout numbers, very good control, but when I initially started a trade Gallardo thread, it was because I didn't see us competing in the next few years. Well, I think you have a lot more reasons to believe that's not the case. The very same lineup, the same top 9 guys(both catchers) will be back next year from a team that led the league in scoring, HR's and SB's(or is anyway), and a staff that was on pace for the all time strikeout record. And they'll likely end up with 84-85 wins. With money to spend, more coming in....I don't see Mark Attanasio or Doug Melvin blowing this thing up(Which you might as well do if you trade Gallardo). I just keep going back to the same rumored trade from mid-season. Two of AZ's top 3 young pitching prospects, OR one of their young pitching prospects PLUS Justin Upton. If that was a legit trade...man that'd be hard to pass up. Having Bauer and Bradley for instance coming up with Peralta, Rogers, Fiers, Thornburg, Burgos as well as the other half dozen viable big league prospects a year or so away... The infusion of talent into our system could be just incredible as could the savings we'd see from dumping players. -
Yeah, you know where I stand on the Brewers possible payroll potential, so I won't get into the financial aspects of it. But the Brewers finish makes this decision that much tougher. Yo looked great down the stretch. But to me, that's WHY you trade him. All of us want to see a winner, and after a great finish to the year, a full lineup that looks to be set in place next year for next year, was the best in the NL this year and should be even better next year with Segura with a good chunk of time under his belt. Weeks should/hopefully will hit better than a .150 average the first half the season, and the Aoki/Hart/Gomez trio should be in place from the start. I'd say we should expect regression from Braun, but I'm not sure about even that anymore. So even though I was originally in favor of such a move, how do you do that to Brewers fans? Do they understand how good we COULD look very soon if we where to get two of Arizona's pitchers like Skaags/Bauer/Bradley? If that trade was ever really on the table? But the risk/reward in selling players high is obviously a lot more important if the players are valuable players. Selling a guy like Gomez I don't think is worth the risk that he's actually as good as he's shown, if not better for the reward of a solid prospect. The risk with Gallardo is you almost kill your chances next year, but it's also that he's a starting pitcher right now in his prime, throws 200 innings a year, strikes out 200 guys every year and the bigger risk is injury or a poor season. The reward is a potential franchise changing haul in return. It's a PR nightmare though as if you trade him, I see absolutely no logical reason not to trade Hart, Aram and Gomez. And you basically go into the season without any hope, coming off a season that saw Yo anchor a rotation that as it brought up pitchers really put together an incredible run. If we finished the season with a .500 finish the last 6 weeks, we'd be fine, but as hot as we've been, that makes it much tougher to move Yo now...again, as logical as it would make sense. BUT AGAIN....if the Arizona deal was ever or still IS on the table, two of Skaags, Bauer and Bradley, or one of those three plus Upton, you still have to make that deal IMO. The last 6 weeks have been fun as hell, but I don't know if it's been detrimental in the long run. At our low point, we where looking at a top 6-7 pick possibly, and a rebuilding process in the off-season. Even Doug Melvin has publicly said that the end of this season has changed his mind on where this team is and their ability to compete next year. Spending money is fine. I think they can afford to spend more than most others on this board thinks right now and especially in the future. But just spending isn't going to build a lasting team. They're in a position where they could move Aram and Hart for several VERY valuable young prospects. Aoki's value is harder to determine, but if teams think this years production is what they can expect, I don't see that big of a gap between he and Bourn, so he could have some big time value. Gomez has boras as an agent, so that drastically changes things. I'd love a 3 year 15 million dollar deal for Gomez and would even go 3 years and 18 million. But I suspect that Boras is looking for something absurd because of this ONE year(though I see his point, limitless potential and he's still just 26 and starting to realize it). But with the finish to our season, it's almost like a spotlight has been put on some of our older players like Hart, Aram even Aoki who is 30 and then possibly Gomez if you can't work out a reasonable extension and even then you have to decide if it's worth it with Schafer coming up right behind him as a great defender and a guy who looks to have an exceptional approach and more power than I think most people think. We could bring back a cache of prospects if we where to trade Aram, Hart, Gomez, Aoki(maybe) and specifically Gallardo...to the point where we might have one of the top 2-3 farm systems in baseball. But, again, as Melvin said during a recent broadcast, this last season run does make the Brewers re-think the potential this team has. Which kinda sucks. I'd love to have 7-8 young budding B+ type prospects, but I think it's more likely they'll end up simply looking to push it further and try and contend next year. To me that means; -Looking for a frontline starting pitcher 1st(Greinke, Peavy/Haren if options are declined) and a power arm second(Jackson). -Bullpen help. Who knows where this will come from or how it'll end up. -Re-sign Hart for an extra three years for a Ramirez type contract. And with relatively limited obligations for next year, I could see them doing all three pretty easily. Sadly they'll also likely trade Gamel.

Should we bring back K-Rod next year?
HiAndTight replied to HiAndTight's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
I think 1 million dollars a year to K-Rod would be pretty insulting, and if that's what they're going to offer, I'm sure they'd rather not offer anything than insult the guy. To offer him 1 million a year when relievers without any of the history he has, nor the numbers he's put up even this year get paid substantially more would be insulting. Obviously I'm not just looking at the numbers here, but I don't think via DVR or watching the game live I've missed one of his outings in a couple months. I can't believe people aren't more encouraged by what he's shown and his mini-comeback. And paying him little more than the Vets minimum... -
Should we bring back K-Rod next year?
HiAndTight replied to HiAndTight's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
How soon we forget how good he's been his entire career and remember a small sample size from a position that's chronically up and down. He however hasn't been save for the first couple months this year. But while we're at it, should we cut ties with Axford? He's been worse and I'm not sure our manager has enough sense to stop using him if he sucks like he did for the most part of the year. Nobody finds any correlation to the Brewers near miracle comeback to the back of the pen shoring up the last three innings for the most part? It also takes a lot of pressure off the young pitchers if you can trot out 4 relievers like Veras/Henderson/K-Rod and Axford so a Peralta doesn't or isn't pushed to go 7 every night. I'm using more the eye test with K-Rod. He's looked every bit as dominant as Axford during their latest couple month runs, and his season numbers again, trump Axford. Now obviously Axford's financial situation is totally different, I just think the foolish and pointless mention of RR in this situation warranted such a response. I didn't see better options and it was the recipe that made this team one of the best in baseball last year as a staff. So I forgive him for giving K-Rod chances to work his way back in. -
Should we bring back K-Rod next year?
HiAndTight replied to HiAndTight's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Since the start of August, he's put up a line of; 2.91 ERA 22 IP 12 H 5 BB .154/.205/.256/.461 against. It's a small sample size, but aren't they all with relievers? Isn't it more about being reliable and being able to see that a guy is still capable of dominating? His fastball has been pretty nasty, even at 92-93, and his curve and slider are still out pitches. I think with the volatility of a BP, having a guy like him who rebounded as well as he has, but who because of his overall numbers likely won't be given closers money(Again, I don't see him seeking it anyway). I think people look at it too emotionally. Our bullpen ruined the season, so everyone has to go. But K-Rod has an entire career of success behind him, and while he's on the decline, we're not paying him, or wouldn't pay him 14 million a year to save, rather 3-4.5 to be a late inning reliever. I'd be pretty confident going into next year with Henderson, K-Rod and Axford as our late inning trio, and I'd bring back Veras. Still a cheap bullpen. Less than many teams spend on their closer alone. Anyway, I think he's pitched himself back into consideration for next years bullpen by showing he's still got dominant stuff. I'm gonna go with the entirety of his career, as well as his dominance last year over a poor start to the year. -
Should we bring back K-Rod next year?
HiAndTight replied to HiAndTight's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
There's no way? So if he's willing to come back for 2 million dollars, we shouldn't consider it? I doubt he's expecting anywhere near "closers," money. He MAY want to reclaim a job as a closer with a bad team, ie, Houston or a team similar. He made 8.5 million last year and is coming off his worst season. I think both assumptions are faulty. If he wants 5 million over multiple years than I wouldn't consider it, but if he'd sign for 3-4 million over two years, I'd absolutely do it. He's a proven reliever who's been dominant as of late as he has been much of his career, but he's not going to get closer money just as he didn't last year when he had a LOT better chance of getting it when he was rated as the 2nd best reliever on the market and didn't get any substantial multi year deals at closers money. -
Trading players at the right time
HiAndTight replied to EdRomero11's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
As young as Gomez is, I'd hate to trade him and see him take off even more in a full time role. He's really an amazing defender, and while fangraphs may not recognize it, he's saved us countless extra base hits while hitting for quite a few on his own. He's been unleashed so to speak, and I still think at his age, he's got room to grow. The worst thing that happened to him was being the center piece in a Johan Santana deal that got him rushed to the big leagues. If they could sign him for a 3 year deal for 15 million with a option year at 9 million, make it a vesting option, I think he's more than worth that. He had a 2.0 WAR last year playing 90 games, and a 3.0 WAR this year where his defense hasn't been rated nearly as highly, and I can't for the life of me understand why. I think he's a 4 WAR player over the next several years. The issue is Boras. If he wants something like 8 million per year, that's far too big of a risk. Play out his arby years and let him walk. Estrada's been great for us, but he's a guy you have to watch pitch everyday. I doubt anyone gives up anything decent for him. And I don't think this is a "Melvin," weakness. This is a GM weakness. Who wants to trade a player when he's coming off a great year? It's just too difficult to do. Corey Hart, Aramis Ramirez, Yovani Gallardo...those are the guys who should be in this discussion over a rookie pitcher, a journeyman pitcher who's been great for us in a short period of time, a catcher on almost nobody's radar playing part time, and a CF that really saved a lot of games for us with his ability to steal a base, hit for power, and more than anything go out there and run one down. And trading a guy like Fiers? What's that going to do? All he did was have a great 1st time around the league and then struggle in his first year pitching a full season. Maldy is a perfect backup and yet not highly touted. I'd gladly take .250/.310 with 7-8 HR's from him with his exceptional defense. In fact, I'd like to see Lucroy slowly transitioned over to 3rd to see if that works and then if he's still a .300 plus hitter in two years, play him at 3rd and Maldy as our main catcher. -
Of course I expect popular opinion to be against this, BUT, we all know how one season, or even a stretch of a season for a reliever can greatly tarnish his season numbers. I don't think he is going to get a job as a closer unless he wants to sign on with a team like the Astro's who'd sign him for early season and then just to ship him off to another team. As good as K-Rod has been, and he's been absolutely nasty as of late, he's got all three pitches working, and there is no way he's getting 8.5 million dollars. Would Brewers fans be willing to give him a 2 year 8 million dollar deal knowing full well that we have Henderson and Axford as well in the back of that bullpen? To me, he's looked like a closer again as of late. He's been our best pitcher out of the pen, and I think finishing the way he has means a lot. Of course, everyone wants to blame K-Rod and Axford for the loss of this season(and they're not wrong). But that doesn't mean you compound that decision by not bringing him back because he struggled really for the first time in his career. He's been HUGE in our seemingly failed comeback attempt. To me, he's looked better than Henderson OR Axford, and if you look at their salaries, if you give K-Rod 4 million for 2 years, you're still talking about spending just over 5 million for your 7th, 8th and 9th inning trio that can all be shutdown relievers. I'd look for a veteran power arm to come in late in the bullpen as well as a Loogey. There are a lot of loogies we could try out and find out. This shouldn't be that hard. d But with the up's and downs of relievers, K-Rod has been up almost all of his career before struggling for a stretch, but as of late, his change and curve have been NASTY and his control have been outstanding. I feel like there is almost a knee-jerk reaction to say, "hell no, K-Rod is gone," in this discussion, but if you step back and look at the body of work and then what he's done as of late...he's been very impressive and if he wants to come back and not latch on as a closer for a terrible team next year, fine. I'd also be interested in a guy like Ryan Madson on a 1 year 2.5 million dollar deal with incentives for appearances and a team option for a 2nd year at 4.5 million. Of course I've longed for Grant Balfour for years now. So any of these guys along with a viable loogy are near the top of the agenda before a veteran power pitcher, or a pitcher with a reasonable chance to regain previous form(Peavy/Haren.....), a near sure bet and sell out for Greinke(my ideal move) or a #3-ish like Edwin Jackson who has been under appreciated and has been an absolute workhorse.

I'd be interested to see this link or where this came from? Forbes does estimates of every teams revenue. In past years we'd been about 11-12 in the black. Last year we where actually a little over 23 in the black. Love Attanasio, but I think the "we're probably going to lose money on this deal," has been a smart and strategic way of putting the pressure on the fans to comes out to the games at record paces. This year forbes report will be interesting. Spending down a touch due to the new draft rules, but we'll also hit 3 million or dang close, and that's with roughly a 10 pct raise in ticket prices. But again, just imagine what 30 million in our own TV deal and additional money from MLB can do at a time when Levine, the President of the Yankees comes out and talks about how they have to cut payroll and how the face of free agency will look a lot different in years to come due to teams trying to stay under the luxury tax. Do I think teams will out-bid us for a 2 year 8 million dollar reliever? Sure. Do I think a team that's up against the cap like a lot of the perceived players in the Greinke deal will end up paying him nearly 50 million dollars a year due to the luxury tax to retain his services? Of course not. Plus, the evil empire has to deal with Nick Swisher...who they have suggested will not be back because of the luxury tax, and Cano and Granderson who both have deals coming up in an already extremely bloated contract. I have no doubt the Red Sox will be right back where they where shortly with Hamilton type deals, Ellsbury and others, the Angels, Rangers, Phillies are teams that are going to be battling with that 189 number. I think offering a player a reasonable contract in season before they hit Free Agency is going to become a lot more common place than it has been where a player simply isn't going to sign with half a year left, ie, Greinke. And once again, I predict some extremely surprising teams to jump into the fray.
-
I couldn't agree more. I'm really growing tired of hearing Rock and BA go on and on about how you don't appreciate his impact on the team unless you see him on a day to day basis, but man, they're 100 pct right. In Chicago, he struck me as a lazy, me first type player. Not a leader at all. Seeing him everyday, he's the consummate veteran leader who just quietly goes about his business, and his defense has been so much better than I could have dreamed of. I don't know anyone who can come in on a bunt or grounder better than him. Incredible signing. I was hoping that he's make his contract just simply NOT be an albatross, but he's starting to make it look like a steal. WAR over 6...and who knows the impact he's had on Segura, a kid that he's apparently taken "under his wing," and HIM making the call that Peralta was done was impressive.
-
I'm wondering if it has something to do with the lack of men on base. Not saying it was right or wrong, but maybe he would rather save Lucroy for a better RBI situation. Fair point, but then that's your second best bat on the bench? Just a weird decision. My guess....in RR's mind, it was a low leverage situation, he's got some power, and it's a good spot to get him an AB....I guess. I guess in a 1-0 game and the possibility that a big situation could arise later on, he wanted to save Luc, but as you said, others would have made more sense.
-
Well you said they are now done because of the Peralta injury which is kind of silly because he only had one more start this year. It will be more difficult to win Tuesday but the initial post was an overreaction. Yeah, it was a bit of an overreaction, but to win out, you need almost everything to go right. Ie, Peralta pitching like he did today, and then again vs the Padres...who haven't been playing like a terrible team. It doesn't RUIN their chances, but it is another blow to a team that has probably zero room for error.
-
I hate that Gamel's shot in Milwaukee is probably just about done right now, or at the very least it's put on hold until 2013 and that would mean Hart isn't re-signed. Then again, these things TEND to work themselves out. To go a full year without an injury to Braun, Hart or Aoki is far from a sure thing. I'm just really hoping we don't end up dumping him for next to nothing like the Twins did with Garrett Jones simply because he's blocked. I'd like to at least keep him on the bench for insurance. But onto the real topic, Gamel getting hurt DID completely change this lineup, the defense, and changed the look of this team. Hart's clearly a 1st basemen from here on out. That 6'6 frame can literally change games. Especially when compared to the 5'10 280 pound Prince(who's agility was pretty impressive...for his size). His ability to dig the ball coming in having no played 1st in years was amazing and should only improve. He's a very good hitter. Which AGAIN I'll admit to being wrong on him as every year I expect him to be the 2008 or 2009 type Hart and he keeps proving me wrong. And he's certainly endeared himself to Brewers fans with his declaration to Brewers fans and management that he wants to re-sign, and will take a hometown discount. And as big of a difference as Hart made at 1st, Aoki made giving us a guy in right who can play CF, has a very good arm....extremely accurate and pretty strong. And has allowed us to keep Hart/Weeks out of the leadoff spot. If Aoki was a 22 year old kid coming up and playing, he'd be getting a ton of play for ROY. As it stands, he'll likely be closer to Fiers than Harper/Miley.
-
And not to be dramatic, but if this IS the case, there goes that 1 in 20 shot we still had. Which sucks, but I'm almost as excited about how this team came together down the stretch than the prospect of making the playoffs. And if it's something that forces him to change how he throws in ANY way, change his delivery, or is as someone else speculated was actually an arm injury, elbow, shoulder, then I don't see any plausible way you throw him again this year. He's not a guy like Marcum, and the Brewers are too smart to throw him out there again with a sore shoulder or elbow simply to try and complete their miracle comeback. Peralta only had one start left and it is against a crap team. Him missing that start doesn't completely ruin any chance at all. It doesn't ruin our chance "at all?" Peralta has been nearly dominant. He was scheduled to pitch the second to last game of the season. I think most would agree we need to win today, and then win out to have a legit shot at the playoffs. To go with a BP by committee, or to go with Thornburg for 65-70 pitches at this point after not starting in how long, I'd say it significantly reduces the chances we win that game, and obviously then at least hurts our chance. So maybe it doesn't "ruin," it, but it certainly does have SOME impact.
-
I don't know, but if he has a groin injury, that can be almost as damaging potentially to his elbow/shoulder as an actual elbow or shoulder injury. If you have to change your delivery and all the sudden you're throwing without as much torque, putting more pressure on your arm...I don't find it hard to believe at all. PLUS, to me it makes more sense. I'll have lost a little respect if it was his elbow, arm, they knew about it, and they sent him back out there.
-

I don't know how you could POSSIBLY say it's almost "certainly," an arm issue at all. My guess, and that's all we have to go with as Peralta still had great movement(threw some pretty errant pitches) is that it was a leg as the Brewers coaches and specifically Maldy and Ramirez both knew about it. I wouldn't think if he said he had tightness in his arm, they'd have sent him back out to the mound for another inning. Plus, it appears as though he had a limp, albeit very slight. Absolutely could be an arm, but my guess is leg issue, namely groin.
-
He didn't call for Kranitz, he walked around like nothing was going on. Ramirez came to the mound, took the ball from him and essentially took Peralta out of the game. Sounds(and looks like) something in his leg(the comment about the groin sounds and looks right on, but not certain). But they where speculating that it was something the team was aware of before this inning as the bullpen was up and kinda walking around with an eye on the game, unusual when a pitcher is dominating as Peralta was. My guess is that he'll be good to go for his next start if it IS really a leg issue that's not perfect. In fact in another replay JUST NOW, they show Ramirez refusing to give the ball back to Peralta and calls the staff out. INCREDIBLE leadership by Ramirez.
-
What would lead you to believe Bianchi has more power than Green? I wouldn't mind Bianchi as a backup infielder. I don't mind backup young players. Doen's't seem to be Melvin's MO though. I think this is a little unfairly earned. It's not like we've had a lot of 25-26 year old options that where better than who we had coming in the last several years. We didn't really have guys who where ready to step in the last few years unless you count Katin..which I never did. And Melvin has talked about how important it is to be able to bring up young players and have them fill roles on the bench several times this year on broadcasts. He does seem to always want to go out and sign a Kotsay or a Kapler(both being decent signings IMO as Kotsay was a solid option off the bench, it wasn't his fault we decided to take a below average LF'er and play him in CF'er and spot the Cardinals a couple runs last year, that's on RR). And again, we didn't really have Schafer, Gindl or others ready to step in at the time. I think he's going to be more inclined to go with Schafer, Maldy, Gamel(hopefully), Bianchi and maybe one vet. That vet MAY be Alex Gonzalez this next year if he'd be willing to sign for 1.5-2.0 million which seems realistic. And from what I've heard, him sticking around the team and providing leadership, he may be a valuable asset when we've got a pretty unproven, and somewhat injury prone young talented shortstop with only another young and unproven SS in our system behind him, and one who profiles as little more than a bat off the bench. That'd be a move I'd be all for. I see absolutely no reason to bring in an OF'er, or a backup 1st basemen next year though. Ishikawa should be gone, Morgan as well with Gamel and Schafer taking their spots.

Will the Reds roll over for the Brewers?
HiAndTight replied to endaround's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I don't think there is a whole lot of love lost between the Brewers and Reds as it stands, and I don't think this is the perfect time to rest their players. It'd be more likely they'd do that vs the Cardinals the way the schedule works out. I think just like with the Nationals, we're going to have to go out and earn each win without any help from Cincy, and then hope that Washington and Cincy are battling for Home Field like the Brewers and D-Backs where closing out last season. Right now the two are in a dead heat, and luckily, the Cards will have to face Gio/Wang/Zimmerman in their three game series, and it looks now like Cueto, Arroyo and Latos in the final series. That's enough that if we can come out of the Reds series 2 games back....we're going to at least have a CHANCE in that final homestand. I'm a little worried about San Diego though. They've been playing well. I just hope that extra innings loss to the Cards doesn't end up being the difference. A sweep of the Cards and we're obviously looking a whole heckuva lot better at just .5 games back. It'd be poetic though to knock the Cards out...even if we don't really have a team that can contend in a 7 game series, just to send them home would be worth it at this point. -
If you think Green deserves to be in AAA based on his major league production, then by that notion, so does Gamel. However, neither really have anywhere near enough of a sample size to be able to judge accurately. But based on minor league numbers, scouting reports, actually watching them, etc., I think both should be on the team next year. I'd actually start Gamel in either RF/1B but that's another discussion. I've long been a big-big Gamel fan, but with this late run and the production of the three players that figure most prominently into Gamel's potential playing time, Hart, Aoki and Gomez, all playing big roles in our late season run, and our vastly improved defense, I'm worried they're going to part ways with Gamel for a similar type arm. A guy with good minor league numbers and talent who just hasn't quite taken off or been given the opportunity to. I'm still convinced Gamel's capable of being a .280/.360/.480-ish type player who plays very-very good defense at 1st. I just hope it's not a situation where they look too short term and don't see a place for Gamel, so they move him. If nothing else, he could be a great utility player being able to cover all 4 corner spots and provide power off the bench. Hell, they could just stash Gamel in the minors to start the year next year and see how the 1st month plays out. His value to us is still far greater than what he'd bring back in a trade at this point in my opinion.
-
When and where should Green be playing right now that he isn't? I like him as a player, but has he EARNED time over Ramirez? Would you start him over Ishi at 1st? I certainly wouldn't. He's a very good defender and a better bat at this point off the bench. And Weeks is a core piece and has played like it over the last couple months. I mean, maybe he does "deserve," a better chance, but we're in a race...I don't where else you play him as of now other than off the bench. And while the Aram signing might hurt a lot in 2014, you certainly would have a hard time arguing he hasn't been a great FA sign thus far and well worth the deal...
-
I can think of several. He's young, cost controlled meaning we don't have to go out and spend even a million dollars on a Izturis type player, he was impressive defensively this year, can play SS, 2nd and 3rd base. He's also carried a pretty good BA/OBP at every level in the minors and his career minor league numbers are .287/.343/.754 I don't know what you you really want in a utility IF'er? If there is one thing that is encouraging and has been about this system with regard to position players it's that you have in house answers to fill out the roster. Good backup catcher, utility IF'ers, OF'ers....you should be able to fill out the bench pretty well. Schafer as a very good 4th OF'er with great speed and defense allowing Morgan to leave saving a couple million, Gamel to backup the corner spots, Maldy to back up Lucroy(at least for the time being...I've been a huge Maldonado fan, but I doubt he hits quite as well moving forward, but if he does, he'll have more value via trade). Green who can play 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Bianchi who can do the same(I assume a SS could handle playing 1st) but also provides good offense for a backup SS. Especially considering what we've had at Short.

By the way, WAR for each player Braun-7.5 Posey-7.2 McCutchen-7.5 Holliday-5.0 Wright-7.2 Just everything else aside, a catcher putting up monster offensive numbers and a CF'er doing it should PROBABLY tilt the scales towards them. But it should be a three horse race in any event IMO. But I suspect Braun comes in a distant 4th or 5th. By the way, one who's gone really under the radar, Aramis Ramirez with a 5.9 WAR.
