  1. How much more does losing to the Heat hurt now though also? I thought the Clippers were the biggest threat coming into the season with their perimeter defense. Then obviously Bam blew up and the Heat looked like they'd be a threat(one I thought we'd overcome). I think the Bucks would have matched up pretty well with the Lakers...not that it matters now.
  2. This. They're just over 45 games. This would be noticed, but hardly all that significant in a normal year. Maybe we've seen the best of him, but I am not worried that he's become a below average hitter suddenly.
  3. Yeah, but again, to play devils advocate, they were two games away in large part because they had Brogdon. And they were two games away from having to play the Warriors who were FAR-FAR more talented than the Brewers. I don't agree the layoff hurt their timing more than other teams. They don't rely on timing. They rely on one guy who's not a great ball handler or shooter(though great at pretty much everything else) to try and drive and then kick it out. But they're not a team that has a lot of ball movement. They're pretty much exclusively drive and kick. I would agree that the Bucks have the talent...for the most part. They're clearly lacking a more explosive ball handler who can shoot. Even at his best, that's not Bledsoe(he can't shoot). It's also not Middleton who brings back images of Big Dog when he dribbles in traffic. And I don't think Bud's gonna change. I don't think it's a lack of effort on his part or that his message doesn't get through, he's just got a system. One that I don't think will work in the playoffs. Like a Mike D'Antoni. I don't even think it was a big mistake to let Brogdon go necessarily. He had a pretty average season. But they let him go because they didn't want to pay him...and right now that contract would come in real handy. This just doesn't mean much to me. You're pretty much telling Giannis the obvious. We're willing to spend money to keep you, a once in a generation type talent. And for the Bucks that generation is like a generation in John Tyler's family. Again though, better they say it than not, and this might be the best possible off-season for the Bucks to add a good player with their limited assets.
  4. I think the overriding answer and $$$ and pending litigation. I don't think these university presidents quite understood just how many student athletes (and those athletes' parents) would put athletic competition ahead of health and safety. I think everyone here can remember back to when they were 18-22. I assume most wouldn't have been worried about Covid themselves. I sure as hell wouldn't have. So I understand the players. The parents, I don't know how many are actually on board. It was a pretty small group from what I understood that was outside the B10 headquarters. Didn't read about it, but I saw a headline where Ed Orgeron said that "pretty much most" of his team has the virus. I'm pretty risk adverse, so if I was running a B10 school, I think I'd just continue with the plan they set forth...but who knows what'll actually happen.
  5. I don't think there was. It's not 100 pct, but trainers can tell by how much give there is in your knee almost immediately. Sucks...the OL was looking REALLY good with Jenkins at RT. Now the question is, are the Packers better off playing Jenkins at RT when Turner comes back or sticking with Turner/Wagner out there? I'll say Jenkins, but I know that's not the route they'll go. Packers also apparently made an offer to Damon Harrison earlier in the off-season. One that Snacks didn't find suitable I guess, but they made an offer.
  6. Well obviously he's going to be better than a couple of your starters. He's probably been better than all of our starters. But do you still think he's a priority if you have Burnes and Woodruff atop your rotation. Kirby Yates would be better than most of our relievers, but like always, you have to factor in risk and reward. If Bauer stays true to his word, coming off what's been a ridiculously dominant season thus far(.794 Whip), I'd guess he'd get more than 30 million. If Cole's getting 36 per over 9 years...I'd think a team would at least give Bauer 35 for just a one year commitment..if he continues to pitch like this.
  7. Well...he said he would have. I don't really have a strong opinion on it. I get not trusting your WR'ers when you're likely running a play that relies on timing and you have two available WR'ers who just used a lot of energy running back to back Hail Marry's. Don't think you try a draw with Rodgers. Maybe roll him out and give him the option. At TE it was just Richard Rodgers IIRC. Like I said...I get the argument, but analytics don't take into account that you've got 45 seconds to recover, get the play in and that you're running it with your 5th and 6th WR'ers.
  8. Right...it's not as if there were veterans on the Indians literally saying they'd opt out for the rest of the season if Clevinger stayed with the team. There was absolutely no urgency to make any move there!
  9. He did? This is the first time you've mentioned it. If the Brewers weren't asking for a huge return on Hader, he wouldn't be a Brewer any longer. You can question the moves that Stearns made this offseason, but the guy is far from an idiot. He know what he has, and he knows what it's going to take to get him. And no, it isn't going to be for the prospect poo-poo platter. That idea can be put to bed. Your issue is that you seem to have this notion that it's "Gavin Lux or bust" on a return for Hader, when in reality there are plenty of other prospects out there that would likely provide the value needed by the Brewers as part of a package in a Hader deal. I get the feeling that you are trying to set yourself up to be disappointed with any return the Brewers were to get back, though, if that return is not Lux. It's really getting annoying to read threads about the actual Brewers since basically EVERY thread comes back to this. And honestly...you'd think after you've been proven so wrong so many times before, you'd just give it a rest already. But nope, even in a thread about Hader it somehow evolves into a "we went dumpster diving for FA's," conversation....AGAIN. There is literally nothing easier in all of sports than sitting there and saying, "hey, that didn't work," well after it's shown to have not worked and frankly...nobod's saying it DID work.
  10. Probably pretty low. And it's kinda getting old since it's so unrealistic. How many Brewers fans were jumping at the chance to trade Hiura for a reliever? And Lux was a better prospect than he was(in the opinion of most). Nobody wants to give up a middle of the order hitter who looks like a legit #2/3 or 4 hitter for most teams for any reliever. Lux is 22 years old. The Dodgers are run pretty well. We're expecting them to just get stupid real quick?
  11. I always forget about the 15-1 team, but that has to be right. That second year when we lost to Denver was the year we lost to the 0-9 or 0-10 Colts and probably cost us HFA.
  12. The back to back SB years I'd assume?
  13. A pessimist would ask why the hell didn't they do that last year. At least it'd give you a ~21 million dollar contract to trade. But I like to be optimistic. Better to tell him you're willing to spend than nothing at all I guess.
  14. Yeah, but hasn't McCarthy said several times the reason he didn't go for 2 there was he didn't have the WR'ers available? Janis had just caught two Hail Marry's(and was a brutal route runner) and they were down to I think him and Abbrederis. Analytics don't always take factors like that into the equation.
  15. Anyone hear any updates on King or Taylor? I'm assuming Taylor's out for the season, but curious about King. I'd REALLY like to see the Packers go out and pick up Jerrigan(who's been banged up, but played very well when healthy and is just 29). Harrison is obviously a logical choice(and the best one IMO). Lancaster's a lost cause at this point. I never give up on guys early, but he's just brutal to watch. We've at least seen Lowry play well for stretches. I haven't seen that from Lancaster. And Larry Warford might be a good idea to shore up the OL. It'd allow the Packers to continue to play Jenkins at RT. Jerrigan, Harrison should be available for ~3 million and maybe another million with incentives. A guy like Marcel Dareus should be available for less than that. Warford would likely cost much more as it was rumored he wanted 7 million to play this year. But he's a pro-bowl caliber Guard(A former All Pro) who's still in his prime...so obviously he'd be more expensive. This team looks MUCH better on offense and we haven't seen what Dillon can do, if St. Brown can continue, what the TE's Jace and Tonyan can do. The Defense looks great on the edge(Gary played well today) at CB, good safeties(With room to grow). But I don't know what'll stop teams just just washing them in the running game if they don't get another difference maker AND Clark doesn't stay healthy.
  16. It looked like a route with two options. He held up as if he thought Rodgers was going to hit him short, but Kendrick had that covered. Then was late getting out and around Kendrick where Rodgers lead him. Rodgers probably could've put more air under it, but with his hesitation, it looked like he misread the defense. Could be. I thought it was just a simple wheel route, one those guys run out of that system(not that they don't run several option routes). They tried it a couple times last year with Vitale. At least he had good speed though(for a FB). But there's not much room for error there with a slower TE/FB with a small catch radius.
  17. If they're competitive against the Saints in NO, I'll be impressed. That team is loaded. Right up there with SF, Balt and KC. There are just no holes on paper when you look at that team. The Packers are just not good on that DL. When Clark is there, they at least have a chance. If he's hobbled or misses time, it's just an ugly group.
  18. I really think there's something to Rodgers looking at how he was throwing the ball off balance last year and that might have contributed to him performing so much better. That, the fact that the Vikes weren't able to just rush since there was so much play action and so many quick hitters. As for Defense, I'd have said offense is usually behind defense early in the season. But either way, once they get Hunter back, I don't think that's going to be a bad defense. That's two really good edge defenders, Weatherly and their DT's are good, Kendricks and Barr are good LB'ers and their safeties are just about as good as any teams. But their CB's look terrible. I still see Minnesota as a 8-10 win team. Agree with everything else and would add Jenkins looked outstanding everywhere he played. For a guy who's played mostly center and then guard last year, I think they could get through a season with him at RT.
  19. A season like this would make watching following the minor league system that much more interesting. When the team looks as bad as this, you want to at least see what's up and coming. Burnes and Williams at least provide some of that...
  20. I don't know if Degura was too slow on that route. He had Kendricks beat. Rodgers just didn't put anything under it. Probably one of the only throws he'd like to have back. He's certainly not a burner or anything, but we knew that going in. It was surprising to see Barnes out there. Burks is apparently dealing with a quad and I saw one beat writer say they didn't want to risk further injury. That seems like a positive spin. He's already not a very physical LB'er and Barnes played alright for a guy who wasn't on the roster a week ago. Big questions are going to be what do the Packers do on both sides of the line. From what I've heard, Nijman is still a project, yet he was active. It was a good game, but Lancaster and Lowry didn't look good at all. Maybe we bring Light back and hopefully we add a veteran DL. There are still impact players available. I can't get Lancaster's little belly flop on Cook's first TD run out of my mind.
  21. I realize this was a couple Woodruff and Burnes starts ago, but you still feel this way?
  22. They just get two extra active players. They've got 10 more players they can play with in the event that guys test positive on game day.
  23. It's probably not smart...but what I'm really shocked about is that we haven't heard about more guys going out and screwing around and getting Covid. You've had one larger outbreak in Florida and then the Cards had a few guys get it, but it's really been pretty smooth thus far.
  24. They're all tested before the game. I don't know that it's that big of a deal.
  25. DeAndre Swift drops an EASY TD for the Lions. Man that hurts.
