  1. I don't know..that That'd surprise me a bit. That Saints OL could abuse the Packers in the run game, especially if Clark's not back and they've got a really good defense. We'll definitely have a better idea of where the Packers stand after Sunday Night. With SF looking like the walking dead, these COULD be the two top teams in the NFC and it could determine HFA in the playoffs. Which is still huge. Even if there are no fans in the stadium in Jan, Drew Brees with his diminished arm strength having to come up to Green Bay...
  2. I remember feeling confident that we would surprise the Pats(and we may have if not for an OL returning a kick to our ~5). Don't know that I thought Buffalo would be a threat at that time.
  3. That is....amazing.
  4. It's been reported(presumably by Harrison's team) that the Packers made an offer, but they did not feel it was a "competitive offer." I think everyone knows it's not as simple as "if he wanted to be a Packer, he'd be a Packer."
  5. It never makes sense to me when teams need that 2 point conversation later in the game and they wait until what they hope will be their NEXT TD. Go for it now so you know if you need it or not.
  6. Gary has looked really good this year. Not sure if he's close to passing Preston Smith yet, but he's definitely justifying his selection... Now, just get Harrison in here. If you put Clark and Harrison on that DL and if Raven Greene could get(and stay) healthy it feels like this defense could be good enough to give them a chance vs the truly elite teams in the NFL. I know we haven't exactly played dominant teams, but with Bosa and Thomas likely lost for the rest of the year and several other 49'ers banged up...the Packers really need to fix the issues they have on offense.
  7. In 2000 Halladay posted a 10.64 ERA (48 ERA+) in 67 IP then followed it up with a 3.16 ERA (145 ERA+) over 105 IP in 2001. Almost 100 points of ERA+ is a pretty crazy swing, but still pales in comparison to Burnes going from a 50 ERA+ last year to a 258 ERA+ so far this year. Even more crazy to me when you consider how little Burnes changed. I thought with Halladay they broke down his delivery and re-worked it. With Burnes, unless I'm mistaken, it's more about his pitch selection and just a mental break.
  8. I was pretty confident he'd figure it out...but I was a bit worried that he might be moved into a role into the pen if he struggled again. I think there a lot of posters on here were still pretty confident in him despite his disastrous season last year. His stuff is just too good, but does anyone expect any pitcher outside of Cole, Buehler types to dominate like this? He's just fun to watch right now. And hopefully he gets to take the bump a few more times this year.
  9. He's been awful since he was hired. Surprised he's still the head coach. They went to the SB and were up 28-6 on the Pats. Either way, he's on his way out. If it's his fault of Dimitroff, the Falcons are just treading water right now.
  10. I always forget about the 15-1 team, but that has to be right. That second year when we lost to Denver was the year we lost to the 0-9 or 0-10 Colts and probably cost us HFA. I’ll have a hard time picking the Packers when they visit Indy in Week 11 because of the clunkers they left there in 1997 and 2012. They also lost there in 2004 to a prime Peyton Manning - making them 0 for 3 in their last 3 trips. That 1997 loss sticks with me as the most unexplainable Packer loss in my memory. Runner-up would be the 2014 loss to the Bills that put the NFC Championship Game in Seattle instead of Green Bay. Yes...back in the days of that "idiot kicker." We're talking about a KICKER...a drunk idiot kicker! That game seemed like it was 28-28 about 6 minutes into the game as neither team seemed capable of stopping the other.
  11. From 2010-14, the Cubs lost 464 games, 2nd most in MLB. They sacrificed those years for the uncertainty of the future & won the World Series in 2016. They got somewhere. From 2010-14 the Astros lost 502 games, the most in MLB. They sacrificed those years for the uncertainty of the future & won the World Series in 2017. They got somewhere. White Sox didn’t want to sacrifice the now for the uncertainty of the future a few years ago..... https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/04/how-did-the-white-sox-trade-fernando-tatis-jr.html Man...that Sox team would be that much more dangerous with Anderson sliding over to 2nd and Tatis Jr playing short.
  12. This is a bit of revisionist history. Grisham's giant leap last year was THEE story for the Brewers minor league system and I thought he'd moved well into the top 100 in many updated in-season rankings. That's kinda the opposite of an afterthought. And I know he was ranked as high as 59 by one service even coming into last year. Grisham saw his value sky rocket last year hitting .300/.407/.603 1.010 OPS and 26 HR's in fewer than 100 games earning him a significant role with the Brewers during their last season push and in their WC game while Urias struggled and saw his value drop and likely would have seen his playing time drop if not for Tatis Jr suffering a season ending injury. Again, that's not to say that I don't like the trade...but they're both 23 years old and at the time we made the trade, Grisham was anything but an afterthought for the Brewers. They sold high on him and hoped that Urias would still live up to his top 25 ranking(and I believe he still can).
  13. From the tweet that was linked, it sounded like it had just happened. I THOUGHT it was from 9/14 when he homered off Kershaw to tie the game up late to help pull the Pads within 1 1/2 of the Dodgers. I know he had a bat flip after hitting a 3 run shot last year off Sergio Romo(IIRC) in the bottom of the 8th to give the Brewers a 6-5 lead that the Twins complained about... I wonder how many Brewers fans even remember that, much less took issues with it. I'm 100 pct in agreement with adambr, you need guys like that who can interject some energy in a team. Even in a 60 game schedule you can have lulls.
  14. Yeah, it's a bit much, but that in and of itself doesn't really tell ya too much about his character(which I know you're not suggesting). I feel like I watched him play enough and I haven't seen anything that would suggest he's not a good kid who for the most part just puts his head down and tries to play hard. Someone else made the comment that the loss of some of the more emotional/energetic players seemed to be hurting us. I don't know how much validity there is to that, but when we won 103 games and lost in 7 in the NLCS, 3 of our top 5 players were LoCain, Jeffress and Aguilar who were all pretty easy going guys who seemed to play around in the clubhouse while also playing hard. Again, it's impossible to quantify how much players like that help a team. I personally believe in a game where the harder you try, the worst your results are often times, they certainly help. But as others have said, I'll take that over the "How do I explain to my son," nonsense and then watching a pitcher scream obscenities after a big K on the biggest stage in baseball.
  15. Yeah, it's not the least bit surprising. I'm constantly amazed how people just don't seem to get it. My Uncle's in town and he loves the Fish Fry at a particular restaurant. We ordered takeout. The place was packed...~200 people in this place, it was a small place, everyone was shoulder to shoulder...and I saw 2 other people wearing masks and about half the staff. My Uncle is 80 years old. But there are so many others who appeared to be in high risk groups. A pregnant women was standing around at the bar, morbidly obese people. These seems to be a level of arrogance about Covid...where people just assume it won't be a big deal. As soon as I opened the door I wanted to turn around and walk out, but he wanted to pick up the food. We ended up waiting for about 15 minutes. I can only imagine how much worse it is for HS kids who are at the lowest risk and who are arrogant and think they're invincible to begin with. I really hope everyone's wrong about how bad this will get this fall/next spring...but it won't be for lack of trying based on the behavior of most people I see.
  16. Yeah...that's encouraging. Getting Giannis to sign an extension this off-season would be the best(obviously). It'd stop the Bucks from making potential "panic" moves. They obviously need to add talent. And if they could acquire a blue chipper(Beal, Hield) then whatever, do it. But if they give up DD, picks and future options to swap and they're only getting a marginally upgrade... I guess my point is while everyone would love to see them win and go for it this season, the last thing we want to see is the Bucks totally handcuff themselves and end up like the Wolves with KG. Never able to get over that hump and always making trades or acquisitions that are short sighted. But again, it's awesome to hear Giannis say this. It'd be so easy for him to be looking for a house in Dallas right now and be gearing up to join Luka, Porzingas and great a BIG-big 3, but he doesn't strike me as the type who wants to go join a team with a superstar already entrenched. Which makes me think Toronto or Miami may be more likely options were he to leave.
  17. Groin injury...hope they don't rush him back. For Clark to not come back vs the Vikings suggests it was a pretty bad strain. If they shut him down until after the bye it wouldn't bother me. And maybe...it'd be a little incentive to go out and up the ante with Harrison or the other solid DL available. Plus, Pettine has used 3-4/4-3 fronts fairly often in Cleveland and in his prior stops. So the Smiths at DE, Keke and Lowry at DT...it's not pretty, but it should be enough to get us off to a 3-1 start. Though I'd guess Clark will be back for NOLA.
  18. I know it was never a one score game...but they weren't really putting up a lot of those yards in garbage time either. Cousins was having his way with us. If that's the result of it being week 1, playing less aggressive, the DB's taking their foot off the gas, I don't know, but I'd definitely be curious to see what Stafford does vs this D. Galloday is out, but they can still move the ball. And it's definitely the difference between good teams and great teams. SF never gave up big chunk yardage to us. They put their foots on our throats and never let up(until maybe the last 10 minutes of the 120 we played them last year). I'd like to see them make the big play without the breakdowns. Savage had a particularly bad one last week. He's too talented. But I think it'll start to click for him.
  19. 100% agree. I tend to draw the line a bit before people call their opponents the MF bombs. Just doesn’t sit well with me. I wonder how much Machado has influenced him... Does anyone know any context behind this also? SD and LAD suddenly are rivals. I know there were a few guys HBP in that series, that was a HUGE HR...just feels like raking the guy over the coals over this seems a bit silly. I LOVED watching Carlos Gomez play and he was regarded by most other fans as one of the biggest clowns in the game. I never really had an issue with him. The only guy I really had an issue with on the Brewers was Prince. He acted like a clown quite often with the "hold me back" schtick he did. Not everyone can have a Rickie Weeks type approach to the game. For some teams having guys like this on their team adds a little swagger that you can't really quantify. But again, this is the first time I've seen Grisham do anything that is even questionable.
  20. Braun ahead of Molly? Safe to assume you have Yount as #1.
  21. So it's just about wanting someone to "take the fall?" That doesn't seem like a very effective way to put a coaching staff together.
  22. I don't know...Rondo's like the opposite of Bledsoe. Garbage in the regular season, pretty damn good in the post-season. Still, I don't disagree with any of your points, I'm just saying I thought the Clippers were the biggest obstacle and ultimately the team that'd stop us from winning a title. Then to see them bounced by the Nuggets...that just stings that much more. Almost like watching the Bucks go up 2-0, lose, then watch KD and then Klay go down with injuries in the finals. The Bucks are a competent Bledsoe away from potentially going for their second straight finals.
  23. So the Bucks apparently can't use Ersan's salary? That doesn't make sense to me. I've seen several players with non-guaranteed contracts used in deals to match salaries in the past. If that's the case, the potential for an already difficult to make trade to acquire anyone of substance seems that much less likely.
  24. This pretty much echo's my sentiments. Nobody can really tell if a hitting coach is good at his job. It's even more difficult than a pitching coach. If Christian Yelich can't hit and if Keston Hiura can't hit, I don't really see how you can blame the hitting coach. BUT the fact remains that we swung and missed on a whole lot of players who had at least marginally histories of success. So I won't be upset if they fire him, but I think it's kinda silly to place the blame on him. Brock Holt knew how to hit before he got here, Garcia was a good hitter. Sogard seems totally sporadic in his ability to hit a baseball. Though maybe it's just that he can't play for the Brewers.
  25. I'd also imagine that the fact that one was a vet and the other was a 2nd year player may contributed to it. So the vet lied about it, flew with the team. The 2nd year player was busted, admitted it and did not fly with the team. He also made a stupid Instagram post... Also, harder probably to put a value on Plesac. He doesn't have much of track record. Wasn't an elite prospect and he's best known for doing something stupid and pissing off his teammates.
