  1. Why would you have waited to give Corbin extra rest? I would have started him Wednesday on 5-days rest, then Woodruff Thursday on normal rest.
  2. can we just put Woodruff at DH? statistically, he owns the Dodgers!
  3. For all the talk of Freddy's slider in the off-season, how come he never uses it?
  4. Just as I swear Counsell loses all the challenges he should win, and opponents win all the challenges that they shouldn't, this year the Brewers have been victims of their pitchers getting very tight zones while opponents have gotten a lot of umpiring help (except for the Hader strike 3 last night)
  5. I've pondered that too. One thing we struggle with is types of hits. It seemed the AL Central teams beat us to death with infield singles, while we rarely seem to collect them. It seems the NL Central teams hit lots of solid line-drive singles over the infield. We hit a lot of hard hit balls on the ground right at guys, in the air where OF run them down, or deep flies that were "just missed". We could use a modern-version of a Cirillo or an Overbay to provide some balance. Not dismissing launch angle and whatnot...they're huge things to analyze. But it seems the last few years we've had a lot of guys with more homers than doubles, and 10 years ago that wasn't common
  6. I’ve been pondering this for over a year now, but I feel like as players have become obsessed with launch angle, or contact, and spin rates, one thing I think is missing is the players who hit line drive doubles all over the field. What’s the miss when shooting for an optimal launch? I think one thing we will see in the next couple of years he is a revival in hitters that it are 30 to 40 double hitters, hit for high average, and still manage 20+ homers
  7. Another 3 Ks for Hiura last night. I know he occasionally runs into one, and it typically goes a long way, but for the most part, his at-bats have been disgusting this season. It's gotten to the point where I get up and leave the room during his at-bats, because it's so disappointing watching a player who has so much skill and talent, but evidently has no clue how to use it. I believe that Hiura has tremendous upside, but he's gotta get on top of his swing-and-miss tendencies, or I fear he's not going to have a long career. Thankfully he is very young, and there's still a lot of time for him to figure it out. From day one, teams have hammered him at the top of the zone with heaters. If he could even foul them off, eventually they'd have to bring them lower into the zone. But those at the top of the zone are either called or swinging, and those above the zone are often chased.
  8. a $2.55M option is really cheap for what he provides. Don't forget that two starters in the OF are right-handed, and Yeli needs protecting with bubble wrap. Even if we decline his option, we can still offer him arbitration (we own his rights for several more years) Every penny counts with revenue losses this year and the potential that crowds could be still be restricted to less than capacity at the start of 2021. I wouldn't be shocked if MLB and MLBPA announce a 2-year temporary CBA to bridge the gap. It could potentially ensure shared revenues for owners and players, with all of the wording being directed at it being only a temporary COVID solution
  9. you forgot to put this in blue as well, as it's as much a typo as saying "controlling their own faith."

  11. Arcia should have been non-tendered after 2019. The leash for him has been inexplicably long. I guess it bothers me that the Brewers do not yet have enough confidence in Urias to just let him replace one of the worst regular starters in baseball, while Grisham is pretty well entrenched as a starter. I'm not giving up on Urias, but I doubt he's going to live up to his prospect hype. I remember being surprised last winter when I compared Arica at that point in his career with Carlos Gomez, and Arica had actually outproduced him. Arica was a solid hitter in the minors, and has a knack for key hits. I’m not worried about him right now
  12. Worst results... He got a LOT of offseason press (not just local either) about his skill set. Dude has made quite a turnaround. Reminds me of how for about 15 years, Roy Halladay had the record for highest ERA in a season (with qualifying innings). Pitchers with good stuff eventually figure it out
  13. Fixed. Online school is really hard for the elementary students that need much more hands-on learning. But I know my wife is struggling to manage our younger kids class load too and she is a stay-at-home mom (even back when none of us stayed at home). I really feel for the families where both parents are working and dealing with their kids at home. Especially teachers who have to be at school for their class and still have their kids doing school at home. Rough school year this year... Just a quick question....remember when bag boys were deemed essential workers and got hazard pay? What about the teachers?
  14. if he only wants 1-year deals, that's actually something we can look into.
  15. I fully expect this to go against the Brewers. For 3 years now, every time a call looks like it clearly should favor us, it goes against us
  16. Making this worse looking on TV is that the box is way too small, going only to belt high. His pitches are high, but they look like a foot high with the box
  17. You doing a hybrid model with the upper levels? All levels? Kids start Tuesday and majority of the teachers are anticipating 2 weeks face to face at the lower levels before going virtual/hybrid. No, we're online-only until--at earliest--early-to-mid October. That's for k-12 in my district. We do have a few classrooms on 3-4 campuses with limited students.
  18. 10% done with the school year and things are going well so far. High school students and teachers all impressed with it. I’m guessing it’s much harder for the elementary kids though.
  19. Davies is a solid starter who is in a ball park that helps him a great deal. He is a contact pitcher and the bigger parks in the N.L. West will play more to his style than the hitters park in Milwaukee. I was always a huge Zach Davies fan. The guy is a solid mid-rotation starter. But that's his ceiling. It is valuable, but he's also getting to the point where he only has a couple years of control left, and will be pricier with arbitration. Eric Lauer basically profiles as a left-handed version of Davies, but is 2 1/2 years younger, with several additional years of cheap control. The guy is a good pitcher as well, and seeming that he just turned 25, he will be a future contributor. Let's not write him off completely based on a couple poor outings in the wierdest year in MLB history. Davies needs a place like Petco. His dramatic drop-off in velocity the last 3 years has been very troubling. Last year he got hit hard a few times, but was otherwise good. I expected the Brewers to flip him and Anderson for whatever they could
  20. Get AT&T TV, one box in each location. I use it to have one service for both places I spend time. Saves a ton of money over the old days of having Directv in both spots.
  21. Totally missed Williams becoming Seattle’s closer. I’m not in any fantasy leagues this year and Seattle doesn’t get a lot of media coverage I guess. Are the M’s trying to give away games? Taylor was absolutely brutal the last two summers, continually throwing in-game BP. Hopefully he figures it out, but he didn’t deserve a roster spot
  22. 14 months ago and nearly everyone had written off Grisham. I still like the deal for the two high profile guys we got in return.
  23. Amazing just how many weak hits the Twins and ChiSpx have killed us with. Why didn’t we walk the bases loaded for a gidp attempt?
  24. First two days of high school golf practice were 114º and 109º. Strangely, everyone thought today was comfortable, given that we had cloud-cover. In fairness, it felt better than the 88-92º days I felt in Wisco in late July.
  25. It would be his choice, but it would be a huge detriment to the team. I'm not so sure. He's aging, expensive, and will not have played in 1.5 years... I think I'd be okay with that salary coming off the books.... By gold glove, solid offense, inspirational teammate standards, he's a bargain. He likely will be for a few years to come
