  1. really, JJ is taking the good pitches and swinging at the bad ones. His strikezone has expanded dramatically since April, meaning that he's swinging at lots of pitches out of the zone. We know JJ can hit belt high fastballs, but he hasn't shown an ability to hit the ball hard to right field or to hit breaking pitches.
  2. I see things a bit differently. -I see Jenkins' option declined, with us netting 1-2 draft picks. -Linebrink or Cordero retained at the 3 year $24-32 million range. The other nets us two draft picks -Miller let go. new backup catcher signed. -Graffanino let go, Brewers receive 1 draft pick (can't imagine he'll still be type A). -Vargas dealt netting a middle infielder and possibly a prospect or reliever. -Capuano dealt to the Yankees, netting us Bobby Abreu and cash -Koskie not retained. New lineup: Hart RF Abreu LF Braun 3b Fielder 1b Hall CF Weeks 2b Hardy SS Estrada C Rotation: Sheets Gallardo Suppan Bush Villanueva/Parra the only concern I have is Hardy at 8th or 2nd.
  3. crazy! I've been going to montana for vacations for 7 years now, and it's typical that forest fires are bad every other year. I was there when it was really hot in early July, and the locals could all see this coming. I've got some crazy pictures from last year's forest fires in MT and the '05 fires in Arizona.
  4. principessa21, just curious, but when a guy has never had women interested in him (but they love him as a friend), and has never had a girlfriend, women can feel it. So how does a guy get that lucky first break? I guess I always had those guys that hit on women in deli/coffee lines or that hit on waitresses as being pompous jerks. I guess that's why they always get the girls then
  5. man that ball was hit a mile...maybe a country mile!
  6. how about links at the top to take you to the other message boards? like below Transactions, PI, Links, Fan Forum could be a line (in the forums) that includes links to Majors, minors, etc.
  7. or they'll flip-flop him in pen with Parra for a rotation, and let Parra start on normal rest this Thursday Bush has done well out of the pen, so it also remains a possibility that they opt to use him more there and Parra in the rotation. Not a demotion for Bush, but rather a decision as to how to best utilize him given the current parameters.
  8. really, this move makes a lot of sense right now. They have two players that can play 2b well. If Weeks gets himself figured out, he could be better than adding a new bat to the lineup once he's recalled.
  9. vista is very nice and aesthetically pleasing. The only flaw was one where it struggled to buffer all music in WMP, but by May they released a way to fix the problem, and now all of my songs play properly.
  10. if you are bored, check out hernan iribarren's splits...he's just dying against lefties this year... wow, those are so bad that you'd think they'd just tell him to try hitting right-handed vs lefties. Can it be worse?
  11. I'm watching it rain, wishing I could watch the Brewers besides on gametracker. This is one of those 2 storms per year when my satellite gets knocked out. I guess that happens in a classic Arizona monsoon.
  12. If we were to let Gagne, Linebrink, Cordero for FA if we do get Gagne, we could have 7 1st round picks. That could be huge, or it could be disastrous. Imagine going the budget route! Still, I think it'd take a lot to get Gagne, so I can't see it happening.
  13. blatzlight is right...if you feel the club in the backswing, you have the wrong shaft. I'm currently hitting the Ping G5 9-degree with nv-75 (green) shaft, and I love it. It's the best driver I've ever owned, although the next best was the G2. I really liked the TaylorMade TP Superquad, until I found out it was priced at $800. I recommend Taylor Made or Ping drivers. The Taylor Made 3wood I have goes roughly 275 when I tee it up, so it's a good 20 yards farther than any 3wood I've ever previously owned. But it's also extremely easy to hit. I bought a new set in May, and I went Ping G5 driver (can't stand the rapture), Taylor Made TP 3 wood and 21 degree rescue, Taylor MAde TP 4-PW, Cleveland CG10 black pearl wedges (52, 56, 60-low bounce), and Scotty Cameron NEwport 2.5. I absolutely love every one of the clubs. Back to drivers, I liked the Cleveland HiBore driver a lot, but it doesn't really "go" like the Ping or Taylor Made. I am not a fan of the Titleist driver, as I much preferred previous models. And I still refuse to buy any Nike golf equipment, in part because I can't stand the golf balls, but also because the clubs were terrible until recently.
  14. his velocity and slider are both MLB ready this is news to me. All reports I've read have him as another Jose Capellan, except he throws a touch harder. So basically that's 93-96 mph, iffy breaking pitch. IE, just one pitch, a relatively straight fastball, that is often a struggle to throw for strikes
  15. I'd definitely send Weeks down now, given that we have two capable starters for the time being.
  16. All you need to know is that Pewaukee police are asses so you quite possibly been going 75. Pewaukee police wouldn't be patrolling I94 I had one ticket, it was in that speed trap by Elkhorn. I was 16, so I guess that was 11 years ago. I was frustrated, because my fuzz-buster went off, and the unmarked car's mirror-lights started flashing right behind me. Frustrated, not cause of my ticket, but because when the radar detector went off, I was looking at the lane to my right where a red pickup truck was blowing past me. Yes, I was going 11 over. Heck, a few miles back I was going 20 over. But it just made me feel like I had been picked out as easy prey. Also, after working around technology during summers in college, I wonder how often police officers/departments properly calibrate their technology. We had sophisticated scientific technology that had to be calibrated often...many instruments required weekly, daily, or hourly calibration.
  17. Sweet, sounds like a nice week. I haven't been to Country Thunder in a few years, but it's probably the most fun drinking atmosphere I've ever experienced. As for Kenny Chesney, I heard him at Country Thunder back when I was just getting in to country about 5 years ago. It's not the stage, it's him. I didn't know the lyrics to his songs, and I couldn't make out the enunciation of many words. Most in country are very understandable, but it just seems like he keeps the microphone too close to his mouth. Still, you can't help but enjoy the energy. that great Australian country music I know of two country singers from Australia right now, but I'm sure there's another that was on the airwaves a year or two ago. Supposedly there's a strong tradition of American Country music in Australia, and I know that Elton John ( a personal favorite) has long enjoyed Country. Give me a break. Keith Urban, Toby Keith, and Kenny Chesney are country bashers, judging by the way they make the music they do and pass it off as country. It's adult contemporary or something. To be honest, much of Country music is the new pop. late-90s pop turned into some awful crap, with songs that are jibberish, singers with poor voices, and all what was pop music evolved into hip hop, country, or hard rock. Country is the only music of the group that I can enjoy, as it has a lot of personality, stories, experiences, and emotions in the songs. It's funny how much I hated country in the late 90s, but how now I find it the only music that I can listen to besides classic rock and other artists like Clapton, Elton John, Billy Joel, Mellencamp, et al. And brettac, what's with all the negativity lately? It seems like this is one of the first posts lately where you didn't get in a jab at Estrada, yet it's still negative. Everything alright man?
  18. jaybird, I say go for it. I'm one of those shy-guys that never gets dates, but the few times I have managed to ask women out, I get the "aww, thanks, you're a great guy, lots of women would love to date you...just not me." So my approaches obviously fail. I still occasionally reflect on one cool, fun girl from college that played on my intramural softball team (men's team...but she manned the hot corner better than any man), but I can't figure out any way to find out what she's up to. Even worse, I think she still lives in the SF Bay area, while I'm in AZ. And as for those that point out there are lots of women out there, for those fixated on a woman, or those shy guys like myself, it can often feel like there is nobody out there. So once again, I say go for it...and best of luck to you. Let us know how it goes.
  19. I'm really bummed, as both Dennis and Dillard have been favorites for a few years, along with Hammond. Really, the only pitcher that I was excited about entering the year that HAS had success is Periard. Well, I guess I did root for Garrison a lot, too. Come on Dennis, Tim, and Hammy...make me feel good about always rooting for you boys!
  20. I enjoy Michaels when I'm in town, but I definitely was a much bigger Len Kasper fan. Michaels is easily the best in game host, but that doesn't say much. Milwaukee could do worse on the radio, though
  21. DHonks, we're talking about *catching* prospects TC, just wait'll you see Parra catching...he's fantastic! Okay, I'd better stop before Clancy gets any ideas.
  22. Angel is #1 in terms of ceiling and success at this point. The only two that could make a claim are Parra and LaPorta. So perhaps Parra 1, Salome 2, LaPorta 3,
  23. Stop babying these guys. it's smart managing. Few players can go 162 games. While I haven't checked the weather lately, summer heat and humidity can be awful in Cinci and St. Louis. This should help Prince for the weekend. And I can't believe people are still complaining Braun sat, seeing as he's hurt!
  24. hey everyone, I'm flying back to Wisconsin for a few days on Continental's regional jets, and I was wondering if I should select a seat on the 1 or the 2 side (IE, facing front, left side has 1 seat, right has 2). I chose the 1-side, but I'm just curious if anyone has any thoughts, since I've never flown in this configuration in the US.
  25. The Brewers were within striking distance (less than 5 games)of the wildcard for most of 2005, when Jenkins had the 2nd highest OPS in the NL after the break. Didn't he miss the last 5 weeks of that season because of a broken finger? No wait...that's the year that he played with a partially torn groin and a fractured hip. It's always interesting when a player has a career best stretch while injured...like Beltre's career year with the Dodgers, when experts speculated he was so good in part cause the injury makes them take a better approach
