  1. Is that J.J.'s first homer to the opposite field this year? I was thinking it might be his first ever in the Majors. In 2005, Hardy made the comment that he's a pull hitter. I can't remember him even having many doubles the other way...just line drive singles
  2. Roberts and Stanczyk could also use promotions to AA in the near future.
  3. sounds interesting. It's about time Miller goes after Bud's market dominance with Corona. Corona isn't very good unless it has some fruit. Maybe Miller's product can beat it. I've never heard of Miller Chill though
  4. Do you I have this right--if a team fails to sign a player, then next year they get that pick. So if fail at signing Moustakis (sic) then next year they get the 7th pick overall? They'd get the pick after the 7th...so 7a
  5. Although Igor67, Jones was doing quite well for himself in Beloit and Huntsville before the first arm injury. The only complaint we had was the lack of strikeouts.Granted 2 years of success isn't much, but he was on the radar..
  6. Jamie, that was perfect. A bit different than what I expected, but still very good. I knew we could count on you making an appearance. I had some funny ones in college. A dorm-mate missed class one day because he was bit on the finger by a squirrel. He showed the teacher the proof...it was an ugly bite. For the most part the squirrels on campus were friendly. They'd hop up to us, look at us funny, then playfully run away. Occasionally they'd wait around and do a dance, hoping to be rewarded with a curly fry or two. A buddy thought they were so nice and polite, that they should be dubbed British Squirrels--later the name of our college intramural squads (nobody wants to mess with a Fightin' British Squirrel). And the team name led to all kinds of promotions for intramural softball. A friend brought his clippers, as we hosted "shorn squirrel day". No squirrels showed up...apparently they'd ALL just had fresh haircuts. So then we tried "Bag o'nuts" day. but the only result was several sapplings popping up on the intramural fields after your's truly did a faceplant on the running track, spilling all the bags. I guess we missed a few of the acorns. Despite all of our promotions, we were unable to attract squirrel spectators...only the occasional significant other of team members. On a different note, I have a friend whose neighborly squirrel likes to ring his doorbell.
  7. sweet. Congrats to Brewers19 and Hawing. And good luck Brian. Hopefully everything goes as smoothly as possible
  8. man, that's classic. The grenade part was hilarious. I only wish we had video of Dean Treanor in my first AFL. He set an AFL record for ejections (in a 36 game season), and said some of the funniest things I've ever heard. Something along the lines of, "that's (expletive). You're just showing off cause your wife is in the first row, and you're bitter because she's pregnant with my kid"
  9. one encouraging aspect is that Grant Balfour went through similar problems, was shifted to the pen, and looks like a potentially dominant reliever
  10. man, I come home a bit tipsy, and this is the news you have for me Gene? Hopefully the Crew offers him a minor league deal after the year, but yuck.
  11. Not sure what Bill was talking about there. He said that Jose was throwing only 91 in the 8th inning, much slower than last year. Last year we were all complaining that Capellan was throwing 89-91 all year, not 100 as advertised. I remember seeing him dominate the Rockies in that one outing in late August (struck out 5 of the 6 he faced), and he hit 96 on the gun, and I realized it was the first time I'd seen him throw as hard as advertised.
  12. I went off to do some chores around the house, and came back to see some pitcher with a familiar name, having a familiar performance. The other day I woke up and realized "our bullpen isn't giving up enough homers and runs in general." Then I saw that Capellan had been recalled, and I knew that all would be well.
  13. How incredible would it be if the Crew wound up winning this game 1-0 with Cappy having like 12K's? Cappy might have 20 pitches left in him, so it's impossible for him to reach 12 K's. Still, a solid game.
  14. well, I always knew Cappy had doubles power, but that was jacked
  15. I'm with you Mass. It's funny, because in the past we were promoting guys based on potential. Now we can promote based on performance.
  16. where is brewerjamie??? I am expecting him to come out firing in this thread, much like Elmer Fudd in Wabbit Season
  17. I think lefties hit Kim fairly well. My prediction is that we crush him with about 6 runs in 3 innings. Fielder hits 2 jacks in the game.
  18. thanks Brad, well done. Would you expect Jones to become a closer when he comes back?
  19. yep, out
  20. Gallardo (8-1) man, at this rate he might be able to reach 20 wins if left there all year!
  21. It's an absolute joke that this is a save situation. The Brewers have a 99% win probability: but it helps my fantasy teams in the saves category
  22. man, nice play there for Braun. The rule of thumb on plays like that is you'd rather throw it low and in the dirt, since then the 1b has a chance to dig it. Prince should have had that one.
  23. interesting now...up 4 (or more, if we score), do you bring in Capellan to finish it, Cordero (he got the save last night), or what? I would think it could be an opportunity for Capellan.
  24. I'm fairly sure that I saw a lot of them, thanks to my brothers being 10 years older than me. Does Predator 2 have swearing? I know I saw that in the theatres when I was young.
  25. and he might have had another inning in him if not for the 11 pitch at bat in the 7th. One heck of a pitching line. Man, the front office has to be salivating.
