    Al, there really aren't many 5 inning long men in the game. Instead, Capellan would replace Dessens in the "we're down by 8 and it's the 5th inning" role. Either that, or the "we're up 7-0 and want a pitcher to go the last 3 innings" role

    My new beef is with people saying or posting, "I just threw up in my mouth a little". agreed, it's not even a funny line. Yet some use it a lot.

    Lincecum really looks a lot like Leskanic out there...same over the top mechanics.

    I'm with you guys...I like the select a size. The full size is almost always unnecessary

    ....that i can't get a date. Seriously, 26 years of "thanks, you're a great guy, great friend, and millions of women would love to be with you....but not me" really is annoying. All I want is to go on a date with someone nice and at least relatively attractive (we all have different opinions), yet my 12 year old cousins have more dating experience.

    I tend to like keeping players at their natural positions as long as can be. The only reason to move him to the corner outfield or 1b would be the dearth of power prospects at those spots in our farm system. I hope they keep him at 3rd, and I hope his offense and defense picks up. To be fair, most minor league fields are awful. If there are 10 bad hops, how many go as hits (which punish the pitcher with higher ERA) and how many are errors? It's somewhat subjective. Are all the BC players generally showing higher error totals?

    Well, it's somewhat comforting to see that Vanden Hurk dominates our big league hitters and AA hitters.

    Of all of the pitching prospects in the system, I would love to know what Manny is throwing stuff-wise more than anyone else. I agree Colby. Does he still throw 95, or try to throw 6 pitches? We haven't heard much about his stuff in 2 or 3 years.

    I've always liked Dillard, so I wouldn't mind him or Jackson in the long role w/Villanueva. Neither is really a big prospect, and both likely have long term roles in the bullpen at best. But both could contribute quite a bit if not overexposed

    Manny Parra or Tim Dillard could really be useful to replace Dessens. I understand Elmer's role is important, and you don't want a prospect in the role, but man, it's hard to watch him. He's always been crappy, and is only getting worse

    rluzinski, I know you, end, and others still doubt Gwynn, but do you think that he could become a regular by being a lesser version of Ichiro? singles, .300 avg, steals, defense, and some doubles

    well, always nice to lose, and the entire division fails to gain ground on you. A win today and likely half the division would lose ground

    Grienke would require a significant price and he wouldn't be better than Dessens this year. I'll admit I didn't look this up, but I would venture to say that when all is said and done Grienke's worst year is better than Dessens' best.

    Joe Thatcher will be the next reliever up with the Crew. I predicted he'd make the club to start the year, so I've been wrong with him once. But I think that he'll be the second up. Balfour now with--I think-- 27 k's vs 5 or so walks in around 16 innings. I think Grant Balfour is first to the show, although Spurling has done a fine job so far.

    I tend to think that baseball should shift their plan to net gains and losses. I'd rather have a committee comprised of representatives from the Union and MLB which would name the supplemental picks, more like how the NFL does. Adding picks is nice, but perhaps they should be adding picks after rounds 2, 3, 4, and 5, so that all teams can afford to take the players they desire, not the affordable players. I hate how a team can lose 3 free agents, but add three free agents, and the end result is that they upgrade their draft picks..

    also colby, given that his window with the organization is closing, Mike Jones likely will get shifted to the pen at some point.

    Was there ever a reason they swtiched Wahpepah from a starter to reliever so quickly? Wasn't he an allstar last year? His second half went beyond an implosion. For the ultimate pitcher's park, in a pitcher's league, his final numbers weren't very good last year. He seems to be doing much better for now in relief

    Go Pirates!! A 6.5 game lead. Now a win tomorrow would be nice for us, and a Pirates win, too. It's fun to think the Cubs have won what, 8 of 10, but not gained ground.

    I'd stick with the previous approaches. I'd love to add a stud hitter, and they'll take whomever they feel is best. I'm a fan of high school pitchers, but I think after Yo and Inman, I like the idea of adding HS pitchers in rounds 2-5.

    Gross or Gwynn works for me. Both have been swinging hot bats, and likely will outproduce Mench against a righty.

    exactly Colby. It seems to me that Zach Jackson is likely trade bait. But he could be a candidate for the pen.

    I'd trade Mench at this point. He's rebounded from last year, but we know the club would like to commit more playing time to Gross and Hart, and it would also open up a roster spot for Nix in the near future.
