  1. seems a bit encouraging for Rogers. Progres right now. Hopefully he can get the walks down to 2 in his next outing
  2. Remember, Arroyo came up as an NL pitcher
  3. BTW...that hair is really ridiculous. I think he and Turnbow are auditioning for the movie version of "the hair bear bunch". What a goofy 70s tv show
  4. there is the possibility that Capellan gets sent down on Sunday. The crew seems to like Fernandez, and Capellan would get more late inning work in AAA than he is right now. With our rotation going deep into games, there's just not enough innings for everyone to get regular work. Also, Fernandez may have opened some eyes in spring training, and the organization would likely lose him if they tried to sneak him to AAA.
  5. good to see Ben Stanczyk getting some action. Also, can Brian or someoen please remind me why Khalid Baloulli is still in the organization? I can't remember him ever posting halfway decent numbers, but I remember several with big man-crushes on him edit: rough outing so far for Ben
  6. thanks Colby, I'll check it out later tonight. Also, just noticing the link report, and I was wondering if Ned Yost still catches. I assumed last year he wasn't catching for the Crew because he'd been coming off injuries. When he was in college, was he considered an offense-first catcher?
  7. really good to see the early success for Jones. Also, after struggling in WV in '05 for Wooley, good to get through the first few innings there. Many of us aren't counting on these guys, or Parra (et al), but it sure would be nice to have a few guys step up like Villanueva and Dillard last year.
  8. well, good idea to walk Pujols there. Let's hope Ohka would rather walk Edmonds than throw a mid thigh heater
  9. Man, this doesn't bode well. 69 pitches, no outs in the 4th, 2 on, Pujols on deck.
  10. Ohka nowhere near the zone to the pitcher. need a DP here
  11. His pitches are missing targets, he's not getting swinging strikes, and their fouling off his mediocre ones. Nothing against Yost here...more of a flaw in baseball in-game management in general, but it's times like this that managers should consider going to the bullpen early. De La Rosa would be a good option here for 2-3 innings. While he can give up some runs, his "filthines" might give us a better chance than Ohka. Gotta be careful here...the longer Ohka is in, the better the Cards are hitting him. Don't overexpose him
  12. wow, Ohka being hit awefully hard, as brewerjamie15 said. Ohka at 59 pitches, and not fooling everyone. He'll be lucky to make it through 5 innings with fewer than 90 pitches and 5 runs allowed, unless something changes.
  13. well, could have been a DP. Would be nice if Weeks and Hardy would sidearm these throws rather than underhand so many. The underhanding might lead guys well, but that time it left Rickie in position to get taken out by Edmonds. Weeks has also shown a preference for underhanding it so far. Still hard to argue with all their DP's.
  14. well, Pujols' homer was out by 30 rows. that could have been hit into hurricane-force winds, and still easily cleared.
  15. I wonder if JJ's more aggressive approach will yield fewer walks. Last year at this time, I think we were talking about him having several walks, and not striking out till like the 3rd week of the year. Only time will tell.
  16. nice seeing eye single for Clark. Now a double by JJ would be nice. Mulder throwing strikes, so a hit and run is possible
  17. so far, very little command by Ohka. He's consistently making Miller move his glove by a foot or two. edit: I type that, then Miller sets up off the outer corner to Encarnacion, but Ohka throws it off the inside of the play, jamming him for the 3rd out. Sometimes missing your spots can work
  18. Now, first of all, the Sun looks to be a problem. There's also a little wind. But Weeks was under it, Jenkins called him off, only to clank it off his glove mid-thigh high. Come on Tomo, pitch around it
  19. The first lineup change could very well be Hall starting at 2b or CF this series. Gotta figure Yost wants to get Hall's bat in there against the righties, and Koskie is swinging it very well
  20. carlos lee 1-1 this year against the Cards, 7-57 last year Great hit by Hall. Two hits there the opposite way. Ball sure seems to carry well to right, cause Hardy's got out there quickly, too
  21. one close call. looked good to me, but who knows. Great grab by Hardy to save 2 runs.
  22. also, interesting to see MLB.com's gametracker shows that the park is fairly symetrical. Kind of looks a bit like Comerica in terms of size and appearance
  23. gotta say that I love listening to Joe Buck. A real treat. So far so good for the season. I like Daron and Bill. I love Grace and Brennaman.
