  1. wow! that was as hard as I've ever seen one hit
  2. with Munson catching, I'd send Prince here
  3. wow, someone's gotta be shouting not to make a throw. Of course, Ohka should know he'd never get Taveras on that
  4. interesting to see Luis Pena starting. I would imagine that Parra was activated to piggyback tonight. Wonder if they're trying to get Jones in it, since he was the projected starter Also someone's mancrush throwing a gem in AA
  5. maybe w/the rain they'll call the rest of the game. get it over with
  6. also good to see Rasheed having a good season so far. He's one of the OBP guys who had my intrigued in '04. Unlike Richardson, Festa, etc, he seems to be doing alright in full season ball
  7. wow, perfect strike 3 to hall, then a great play up the middle. Looks like the Cubs are fired up
  8. Good to see Miguel Montero doing well. For those of you who remember seeing his name, I rated the top catchers from the two fall league squads I've worked with. The one getting all the press is Jarrod Saltalamacchia, however, the ones I consider the best overall, including character, are Miguel Montero, Mike Napoli, Jeremy Brown, Kurt Suzuki, then Saltalamacchia, Carlos Ruiz, and finally John Baker. Napoli might have the best offense, but he's a bit weaker defensively. I still believe Brown will have a long career as a backup and AAAA catcher due to his character and production when he plays, not his build
  9. I still would like to have Brewerfan.net officially change the term to the Uecker Line
  10. I should note that while Gwynn jr credits his mother for his speed, his dad was pretty fast in his own right. I know a good friend only remembered him as chubby, but I showed him the stats and he was amazed
  11. today Bill and Daron were talking about it, and said he's using them till he gets his own shipment of those bats in. Takes a couple of weeks to get a shipment
  12. this Gallardo guy stinks. Only 3K's in 5 IP? If he were on the 40 man, I'd say DFA! just kidding.
  13. just saw all that about the squads, too. Very historic. Is there a link report hall of fame, giving credit to the most wins, most K's, hr, fewest runs, etc in a day?
  14. i propose the brewers only play saturday games, and only against the Dbacks, Reds, and Cubs
  15. and i took him out of my fantasy lineup for today that's why I like him leading off
  16. I've been careful not to jinx Rogers, but I would expect he's done now. 5 innings, 9 k's (all swinging), 1 BB, and 2 hits. Great job kid. These last few starts have been much better, with this the best. that's 21:3 K:BB in his last 3 outings covering 12.1 IP
  17. russ, it's a causation thing. When a team has good offensive players, more often than not, they'll score runs. If they strike out a lot, it doesn't matter. The problem is that when a team is bad all around, strikeouts are bad. When a team cannot hit homers or doubles, they can't have high strikeout totals and succeed. Strikeouts as a byproduct of a high slugging percentage are acceptable much of the time. However, strikeouts, in comparison to other outs, are the worst type of out much of the time (not always). Just when an offense scores a lot, they are acceptable.
  18. never realized before that Lehr has a form of the typical A's mechanics. As his knee rises, so does his glove. Same mechnics Hudson, Mulder, Shane Komine, etc have.
  19. Eyre seems to have worse control than De La Rosa...only differnce is Eyre's misses somehow catch the corners. He's missing the glove by a lot, just getting lucky.
  20. de La Rosa's strikes the last 3 batters haven't come close to Miller's mitt. First batter or two he looked great
  21. Rickie probably was stealing because he knew he'd get it, and because it would avoid a DP
  22. great play by De La Rosa to tag the runner, since there's no way he could have beaten Pierre to the bag
  23. wow, he had that stolen easily...just gotta put on the breaks.
  24. i still think the future it could be done Euro-soccer style. One year 4 leagues of 16. The next year 4 leagues of 16 (more teams likely added) and 1 champions league of 16. Then the bottom 4 or 8 drop out, and get replaced by the other top qualifiers. As someone suggested, they could track year-to-year success on brewerfan.net somewhere
