  1. I like Spivey's range at 2b, and his offense is better there. But RF for him is an option. Still, based on this year I am starting to like Ginter more as a supersub than a full-time starter
  2. don't forget that AZ was going to move Spivey to RF if they kept him. His range is unbelievable at 2b, so he could be valuable at 2b or RF. I think I'd be inclined to have Spivey at 2b and Clark in RF to open the year
  3. Clancy, I like the lineup, but I still question your excitement about Hart. I'd put the 40-HR potential guy ahead of him, and I'd probably put Hall infront of Hart, too. Having Hart lower might help him, too. Still, I'd rather go Pods Clark Spivey Overbay Jenkins Branyan Hall Moeller I just don't feel Hart can yet outproduce Clark
  4. milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com...&fext=.jsp gotta run, but that article excites me
  5. damn it Brady, now they might pull the pitchers before Russel comes up
  6. 10 homers, 16 non-homers. just amazing. And I agree batman. Pitching is something you can never have enough of. Especially established pitching. I'd be offering Sheets about 3 years at $27 million ASAP.
  7. any distance on that homer?
  8. okay batman, just you and me I think. So any free agents you'd like to see us go after? The Journal Sentinal had a list today or yesterday. As much as I'd love to see a hitter added, I had a hard time finding a hitter in the $5-9 million range that I'd like to add. I guess if Glaus is let go, I'd love him. But I think I'd almost rather spend some money on Brad Radke. Suddenly a rotation of Sheets-Radke-Davis-Hendrickson-Capuano is a mighty solid blend of veterans and youngsters with potential. Granted, I'm not sure we will see the payroll increased beyond $35 million, but those are two guys I'd love to see targeted. The problem with Glaus is that I want to see Branyan here next year batting 5th or 6th all season.
  9. I don't know what's changed since then, but it's pretty weird. I think it might have to do with Clark being one of the hottest Brewers in the 2nd half. Also, something I thought of while coaching softball, is that he gives us a second leadoff hitter. Weird analogy I know, but I had two speedsters and I put one girl 1st and one 5th. I found that the innings always seemed to end with the 3 or 4 hitter up, so the 5th hitter wound up leading off with the bases empty (a slash and a stolen base, and she's in scoring position). With Brady, there's versatility hitting 5th. He can focus on moving the runners over (for a Branyan sac fly), he can try to dump one in somewhere, or he can try to drive one. I'd rather he hit second, but unfortunately he's needed to create some balance in the lineup. I don't mind Hall at 2nd for the reason that it forces him to play within his means. He's working the count better this year than in past years. He's driving the ball better. He's more aggressive on the basepaths. Recently we've seen him get singles and steal second rather than swing for the fences
  10. Got the Cards-Rams on, and go Crew! I like the lineup today. While I don't mind Hall hitting second, I would prefer Clark or Ginter there. Putting Ginter in the 2nd spot might somehow get him to stop swinging for the fences
  11. Sounds like it's been bothering Krynzel for a while, but once again Yost had a reason for his "decision" that brewerfan.net users second-guessed. And I'm not sold on Santos, but it'll be interesting to hear if it's that fingernail problem again
  12. Am I correct in seeing that we've only signed 19 draft picks? That's a heck of a lot of DFE candidates, even with several going to 4 year schools. With a high draft pick coming, too, I would imagine that the Crew will either need to drastically increase bonus money for draftpicks or keep down the big league payroll (those hoping for a $40 million budget will be disappointed). If a few DFE candidates become of the caliber of Parra or Eveland (possible based on the sheer number elligible), then we could be looking at doubling our draft signing budget
  13. I personally hope Yost will be here for longer than Garner was. I love the job he's doing and fear anyone else brought in would be inferior. Our best recent manager was Garner, but unfortunately it was simply time for a change
  14. don't forget the Hall steal of 2nd. That might have been what enabled the run, although Brady did crush that ball
  15. yes, Helms scored from third, Moeller out from 2nd by 6 steps on a perfect throw
  16. interesting decision there. You have Moeller, arguably one of the slowest men in the game (behind only a few, like Eddie Perez, Julio Franco, and Carlos Baerga, who look like they're running on ice), and you send him. Still, it took a perfect throw to get him by 6 feet, and Pena did sail one into the stands last month. If Moeller had represented the tying run, I'd be pissed
  17. i was hoping for a suicide squeeze, but now I'm hoping for a strikeout or a miracle
  18. Kind of crazy, but as much as I hate Valentin, I am intrigued by Hall, and they have the same tools. Hall made that charger look easy and Kearns isn't slow by any means. I love the way he looks at 3b, but that right there looked nice
  19. remember, the Pirates have something like 25 hours of rain delays each season. That's a lot of lost revenue, a huge injury risk for players, etc
  20. actually, could probably have had a roof for $100 million more. If they wanted it fully sealed and everything then much more. Powell always rips on the Pirates, and I've got to agree.
  21. nice hit Geoff, but why Ginter and not Branyan?
  22. Mesa joins Benito Santiago as the two guys in baseball who look older than Davey Lopes
  23. wow, Moeller hit one out of the infield. I think that's 3 or 4 this month so far
  24. awesome grab by Ginter there. Also, once again Ben's curve doesn't appear as sharp.
  25. We've got the basic lineup out there tonight. The only different thing is Hall at 2b, Ginter at 3b. I guess I'd rather see Helms in there vs hte lefty, but I can't complain much. Hall has the ability to drive the ball. Still, it'd be nice to have a lineup full of stars
