  1. Interesting to point out that Santana was not a Top 100 prospect. Why not point out the Davis was never a Top 100 prospect. When in A-Ball, people said he couldn't hit in A+. In A+ they said he couldn't hit in AA. In AA they said he couldn't hit in AAA. In AAA they said he'd never be more than a marginal MLB player. I don't get the notion that Santana won't hit for power. Last year he showed very good power. So far this year it hasn't been there. But if we based Davis on the 1st half of '15, we'd say he had little power as well.
  2. that line is a bit of an overstatement, don't you think?
  3. well, I like that. That Villar double extends my Beat the Streak to 4 games.
  4. Hence why they pitched around him with the bases loaded. They didn't pitch around him. Torres just isn't very good. Not sure which is more remarkable, that his ERA is under 4, or Boyer's is under 2. Heck, in the first weeks of the season Boyer wasn't giving up runs yet had a WHIP over 2.
  5. MoreTrife, Wood isn't your normal reliever. He's like Capuano--a former starter that is good with the bat
  6. Adam, I understand, but what's the point of giving him a day off of activities and then asking him to step in with just a few bat arm-circles and swing away. I really wanted to see him bat, and I want to see us beat the Cubs, and I want to see us reach .500. But I'd rather have Braun feeling better tomorrow with a day game
  7. To be honest, Braun has no control over things right now. Right now it's up for other teams to come up with an offer and express interest. Then the Brewers respond. Negotiations ensue. If necessary the Brewers discuss with Braun and his agent. If the team in on his no-trade list, then he finally will have control over things.
  8. If I'm remembering correctly, Nelson isn't arbitration eligible until after next season. I'd consider trading him, but only in the right deal. I proposed dealing Wily 2 off-seasons ago, and now I sort of wish we had. Still time for Wily to turn it around though
  9. Well, good news is that if this keeps going on, Cappy's been pretty solid this year AND he's a pretty good hitter. Need to stop them here in the top of the 12th, though.
  10. I'm of the idea that college hitters are preferred early in the draft, then high school hitters, the high school arms, then college arms.
  11. I got annoyed with him last year when he really crowds the plate, then pouted when the Brewers pitchers threw strikes that nearly hit him
  12. I can see this team making a series of trades in July/August that open up spots for several young guys to get their feet wet. I'd like to see Hader in Milwaukee, but probably not for a few weeks. He's made some great strides. We also don't know what goals and objectives the Brewers have laid out for him. I do sort of agree with JohnBriggs. It's not all about arbitration clocks. Rather, we might as well get some use out of these guys while they're young. Let him make mistakes in the majors to see how he adapts. No rush, but eventually.
  13. Hopefully it's something minor to his leg after running to cover 1st.
  14. Most Rule 5 picks are not stars in the making. But you look for skills--hard throwers, defenders, etc. If over time he can learn to even by a .200 hitter, and his defense makes progress, he could be a very valuable and versatile bench piece.
  15. well boys (surhoff5, turborickey, and MrTPlush), it's a good thing that this is a developmental season and really doesn't mean anything. Villar is having an outstanding season. He's surpassed everyone's expectations. I'm not going to nitpick over a few miscues. Let's hope he learns from them.
  16. 1992casey, I've driven several times from Phoenix to Montana, and I love the 85mph zones in Idaho and/or Utah. Also, most of the highways in Arizona are wide open, with several having 75mph zones. But I have no desire to go more than 10 over on a highway. and turborickey, remember that many people have jobs that rely on being mobile. Contractors, repairmen, etc need cell-phones to do their jobs in the modern economy. As a teacher, I see every day that parents and kids often don't communicate enough without their phones. Instead of saying "I'll pick you up at 2:30 at this spot," they communicate that they are "on the way" or "waiting."
  17. With people over 30 (and I'm 35), I see way too many people holding their phones infront of their faces while driving or operating with two hands. I don't care if someone takes a brief look at their phone while at a stoplight, but too many are driving with phones by their faces. Bigger question for me...Why do I see so many people each day driving modern cars with their phones up to their ears or held by their faces on speakerphone? Most cars have included bluetooth as a standard feature for several years now. Many have voice activated calling. Are people just too oblivious or ignorant to take the 2 minutes to pair their phone with their car? I understand it I see someone driving a pre-2010 car, but in Scottsdale those are the minority.
  18. Adambr2, great insight. This is exactly what has been shocking for me. If someone wants Braun, bring out your big offers. The Brewers are in a great position budget-wise and have a potential MVP in Braun. They do not have to trade him by any means. But for some reason there's this perception that his contract is an albatross and that the Brewers are desperate to move on from him. Frankly, there's a good chance that he could be on the next Brewers contending team and putting up numbers that make his contract look fair or even a bargain. If a team wants him...come and get him. But have your BEST offers in hand.
  19. don't forget Eric Fryer, who has had a nice little MLB career at times.
  20. Some great examples guys! Weird that in Arizona a car is prohibited from turning into a more "rightward" lane, yet I'm often the only one on the road turning into the proper lame. Today I was in the right of two lanes that turn left, and the inside car turned into the outside lane causing me to hit the brakes and lay on the horn.
  21. Driving--Okay, I've previously stated my hatred of drivers that can't use turn signals for turns or lane changes. A more recent peeve is my frustration with people making left turns that choose to not pull out into the intersection. If they pull out into the intersection, then a) the turn is much shorter to get into the proper lane (the inner lane), and b) it allows another car behind them to enter the intersection to legally turn on yellow. Another driving frustration is one I don't recall seeing in Wisconsin, but I see all the time in Arizona. People will be in the wrong lane, but then nearly cause a massive pile-up by fighting through traffic to get to far lane to turn into a strip mall. In Wisconsin people tended to realize they missed their opportunity, continue on, and then safely return to the correct location by making a series of legal, safe turns.
  22. Scooter is off to a great start. If the newfound OBP skills are there with his already solid avg and slg, then that's someone we keep rather than bench
  23. Perez, Walsh, and Rivera all profile as backups. One does everything ok, except struggles with OBP. One is sub-par everywhere, but thrives with OBP and is a switch-hitter. The last is a defensive whiz but does little else. In a perfect world we send down someone with options (likely Rivera..can't recall if Perez has any) and keep all three, as they all have some value.
