  1. I would love to acquire Josh Harrison for this team. He would fit in perfectly in the leadoff spot with Yelich, Cain, Shaw and Aguilar to follow. I have my sights set on Harrison to fill 2B.
  2. Back on topic... Is this offer really that bad? I assume Burnes and Peralta would have to be included given they are the Brewers best pitching prospects. However, perhaps the injury concern with Syndergaard is the reason they take the second best hitting prospect instead of the first? Or would there be such interest in him that despite the injury concern, the acquiring team would have to part with their 3 best prospects? Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I think a deal would be 2 pitchers (Burnes and Peralta) and 2 hitters (Erceg and Phillips).
  3. Agreed, and adding three players (assuming the pitcher and catcher are high quality players) will deplete the farm system. It really doesn't seem like a Stearns-type of move to completely dismiss the future for one season. And for this I am grateful
  4. Bleacher Report speculated about what it would take from the Brewers to acquire Syndergaard. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2781121-potential-landing-spots-and-trade-packages-for-noah-syndergaard#slide3 They came up with the following: Corbin Burnes Freddy Peralta Lucas Erceg Payton Henry If the Brewers can acquire Syndergaard with this package (without Hiura) count me in.
  5. I would like this as well. No clue if they would be inclined to move him or what it would take.
  6. Who (likely) won't be closing for them. Sean Doolittle has been pretty lights out.
  7. Braun just keeps hitting rockets right at people. That has to be frustrating for a guy hitting in the .230s.
  8. I doubt they have interest in Davies. However, Hiura, Burnes, Peralta and a fourth nice piece (Lutz) is probably what it will take. I would swallow down hard and do it as getting an Ace for 3.5 years is worth it. If Nelson comes back to anything close to 2017 Nelson, a playoff rotation of Syndergaard-Nelson-Anderson is very competitive with Scherzer-Strasburg-Gio, Kershaw-Hill-Maeda or Quintana-Lester-Darvish.
  9. I think Stearns has shown his style thus far to be the acquisition of controllable players via trade (Yelich, Shaw) or reclamation projects (Chacin, Guerra). Does not mean that long term or even this season that will be his play but I do believe if a deal is made to acquire something significant, it will be for a Syndergaard, Archer type (someone under long term team control) or a Happ, Ross, etc... (a rental but not going to cost a ton in prospect capital) versus an expensive rental like Machado.
  10. Perez, while he keeps the locker room light and is a versatile defender, is just an awful offensive player.
  11. Rizzo, who is genuinely perceived as a good guy off the field, is beginning to annoy me. He blatantly stepped into Perez' path to second as he rounded that base.
  12. I just posted this in the Cubs Series thread...I have never heard this type of thing before. What is that?
  13. Man it really is annoying listening to Uecker and hearing the Cubs fans cheering for line drives into the stands or 250 foot fly balls. What is that?
  14. While I understand your point, if the hypothetical deal was Thor for Hader straight up I think the Brewers would strongly consider that.
  15. Amen. Everyone would be on the table except maybe Yelich. I truly would empty the farm for Syndergaard.
  16. I'd give Hiura and Burnes/Peralta (or both). They'd probably ask for Hader, though. But yeah, they are going to ask for the moon, and would likely get it. Cost would be enormous, but getting a guy like Syndergaard would make the team the immediate favorite in the NL. Now that would cause me some pause. However, if they are truly rebuilding, I doubt they want a reliever on the MLB roster. I would assume it would be Hiura, Burnes, Peralta and our second best hitting prospect in their eyes. I would do it without hesitating.
  17. https://nypost.com/2018/06/07/what-mets-and-yankees-would-have-to-swallow-for-syndergaard-or-degrom-deal/ I would empty the system for Syndergaard. Under contract for 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. I would feel very confident in the playoffs with Syndergaard as our Game 1 starter.
  18. Thems the breaks...having to remind myself of this too. We've had some rough luck the past few games.
  19. While I generally do not believe that the current year's draft has any bearing on the current farm system, I still have to wonder if the draft strategy employed by the Brewers this year indicates they will be moving position players on the farm to acquire starting pitching. Continuing to load up early on hitters while ignoring SP in the draft makes me believe this is strategic on Stearns part. The question becomes who the pitching targets are and who is expendable in Stearns' eyes.
  20. My one rant...if you miss the playoffs, regardless of record, you should pick before all teams that made the playoffs. The Twins should be drafting after the Brewers. If the Cardinals draft Singer, I will vomit.
