  1. If baseball truly wanted a more competitive non tanking leauge a true hard cap on salary would help more then expanding the playoffs , yes I’m well aware that the players union is what holds up a true cap but for the good of baseball it needs to happen.
  2. * 4 years of control left Sorry my bad ment to type in 4 guess the eyesight is the 1st thing to go lol
  3. If this was the trade deadline and Hader was a pending FA then maybe but 4 years left of team control there’s no way Milwaukee lowers the asking price.
  4. Great pick up for depth ....... always need that player that’s on your triple A tram that has experience at the bigs
  5. At some point in the next 3 months? How about before there all signed
  6. I get adding an arm but how many backend of the rotation arms do we need. And when do we address the front end?
  7. I get it. We have to grow our own SP in Milwaukee. However, I think the Brewers need to take a long look in the mirror about whether they are going to extend Yelich or deal him prior to him becoming a FA. These guys might be arriving just in time for Yelich to be dealt. So do you either surround Yelich with talent before he leaves and deal some of these guys or do you hold on and not upgrade the roster around Yelich? I think the Yelich issue has all ready been determined for the Brewers ,after two straight MVP seasons there is near zero chance the brewers will have enough money to resign Yelich ,the more pertinent question is when is the best time to trade him for the most value.
  8. Of course he’s going to say that ........not going to tell the press i F it all up. No GM tells the truth at the winter meetings.
  9. Why why why ? Over the hill very backend of the rotation . Getting sick of just wait crap .wait and take the sloppy seconds no thanks.
  10. He meant $84.7 million is where they are currently projected with the 32 players already on the 40-man roster, so he was just pointing out the good news is they have plenty more to spend this offseason. He wasn’t implying they weren’t going to spend more than that number. I updated the original post to remove the ambiguity. Ok whew makes me feel much better Thanks
  11. if our payroll for this year 84 million I will be deeply disappointed.
  12. Depends on whether Lowrie can play 3B. If he can't, he has nowhere to play and is an expensive bench bat, and thus Familia might have more value. If he can play 3B, then that's two birds killed with one $10M stone. Speaking of the Mets and bad contracts... what would the Brewers have to add, if anything, to get Smith and McNeil from the Mets if the Brewers agree to take Cespedes (and the $29M he is owed)? The Brewers have cleared a boatload of payroll... would you spend $30M to get Smith and McNeil? I agree with one point on Lowrie I think Lowrie would need to be on a load management type deal similar to Braun to maximize his value .
  13. This would be a nice step to relieve my anxiety of the off season but only a step all be it a fairly large one .Sorry for some reason it’s submitting my post twice.
  14. This. I much rather take a calculated risk on Familia when healthy this is a toot the bull pen guy...... you can never have enough quality BP arms if he’s healthy you would never get this type of arm for any were close to this price.
  15. lol, just based on the time you're posting and given how dramatic it is you were probably listening to casey stern. I mean this in the most respectful way possible... the guy is a blowhard moron. I honestly. Did not catch who it was ,as I left the vechicle shortly thereafter I know the hot stove stuff ends up being 90 precent crap ,just kind of got my fire up hearing the fire sale thing .
  16. So I was driving and listening to MLB on XM .They went through shopping lists for each team prior to the winter meeting they got to Milwaukee and all they could talk about was a possible fire sale and that they may slash payroll in half.where the hell is this coming from? Is this all as a result of Nightgails column? The point of posting this here was smith name was brought up but they doubted Milwaukee would take a bad contact back.
  17. When you lose 1/3 of the starters on your team there is going to be doubt as to the credibility and competitiveness of the future of your beloved team. I get it we are a small market team but the fans have supported this team through attendance and apparel etc as if it was one of the Largest markets in baseball. I think it should be noted, yet again, that it is still extremely early in the offseason. I think a little patience is certainly in order. It may be early by calendar standards however the market has been very robust compared to past years and stops for no team. And yes there is the trade market however unlike past years when we could deal from a surplus of young talent in the minors this year that is lacking and all we have to deal is from in the roster which in turn Create another area of concern.

  19. Dallas Keuchel would certainly seem to fit the bill of what the Brewers could realistically be looking at. Signing him and Lyles or Miley to go with Woodruff, Houser and Lauer gives the Brewers at worst an average rotation, and at best an above average one. Say that is doable and we end up with a staff of Keuchel Lyles ( pitched well in Milwaukee but who knows)Miley ( to up and down .)Woodruff ( can he repeat) and Lauer ( I personally liked Davis better but I get it leftie with some up side)Thats not that big of difference from last years staff as far as talent goes. (Keuchel could be the wild card but he’s not a number 1 type pitcher any more ) and you have lost a lot of fire power to your lineup. I just don’t see any significant upgrade to the starting rotation if that’s how it ends up.
  20. I get it the market is flooded with non tendered players and ultimately there may be some bargains to be had, but the million dollar question is can we get similar value to what we lost? The way the visits and dollar amounts of the top FAs is looking so far I don’t believe we will be in on any of the top self hitters or pitchers so is there enough 2 Nd tier free agents to make this team competitive?
  21. I think what concerns some Brewer fans is not that we have not made a ton of moves by The 1st of December or that a majority of the team is set , but the amount of holes to fill on this team , not only the need for pitching upgrades ,leftover from last season but also all the new ones that opened with the exodus of key everyday players that help lead us to the playoffs last year. For two years We got a taste of playoff baseball and we like it, is it realistic to expect or hope for every year in a small market? probably not but we as fans still want it.
  22. I have to disagree regarding your assessment. I doubt Cain brings back much of anything. Both Woodruff & Huira would be bring back a lot of talent & much more than Cain would. That said - I am not arguing for a tear down & rebuild. I would say both Hiura and Woodruff return would at least be tried by other owners to diminish it somewhat. Hiura for his defense and Woodruff prove it again. That the return on value would not be wroth trading them this year.
  23. For those saying blow it up and retool blow what up? We have two players right now that would bring significant value back Yelich and Hader and to a lesser extent Cain that’s it. That’s not going to rebuild a farm system that is ranked dead last in all of baseball.
  24. If Suter pitches like he did this season, he definitely isn't going to pitch in games we are behind by a bunch already. He will pitch in higher leverage games for 1-3 innings depending on circumstances. He needs to repeat his success of last year before we give him an expanded or even the same role ,he’s the type of pitcher we hope for the best prepare for the worst.
  25. So the DBacks signed Vogt. They have better catchers at their disposal? Varsho has never played above AA ball. The D'Backs will want to see how he handles AAA pitching, both with the bat and on defense. I believe he's at least a year away. They signed Vogt as a very capable backup to Kellyfor 2020. After 2020 they'll have decisions to make. AZ has also been playing Varsho in the outfield so it’s not like he’s blocked .
