I like the bringing a guy up and then sending him back down--although hopefully after a couple of appearances and as long as his going back down is "scheduled" in that he knows that no matter how he performs good/bad or ugly he is going to head back to AAA. It's kind of like a trial run and takes as much pressure to perform off as possible when a guy knows he isn't playing for his roster spot.
We don't NEED Miz right now, but we might need him him September and October. Getting his feet wet now and acclimating him to the Show for a couple of outings will do him some good when the pressure isn't quite at the level of a playoff run.
I'm not getting the game either...have watched on amazon prime video all year with a year long subscription. It kinda disappeared from the menu last week but I could still find the game, but today I found the link but there is no stream.
Most of the time, when it comes to fan perceptions about body language and clubhouse/dugout leaders--I don't think we have a clue, as @Turning2 was pointing out about Adames. I do remember how soon after the Brewers acquired Luis Urias there was a big story about how Adames immediately connected with him and they went to each others hometowns (in Mexico and DR respectively) in the offseasons and whatnot. ALSO: there was a story in The Athletic last year where they did anonymous polling of MLB players. One of the questions was "What opponent would you most like to play alongside one day?" Players like to win, so among the top were guys like Ohtani and Judge....but conspicuously near the top of the list was one WIlly Adames.
Anybody having issues streaming Fanduel tonight? I have a year long subscription thru Amazon Prime video, and it suddently disappeared tonight (although it still shows up on my subscription page)
EDIT: nevermind...had to search around a bit but found it....
Fun topic. I would guess that the OBP revolution of the early 2000s plays a much bigger role in increasing p/PA than foul balls...but the two are related.
This would never happen, but I've often thought that there should be another foul line at the front of the plate extending into perpetuity such that if a batter hits a "foul" ball but it goes forward it isn't counted as a strike--it's just a "no-pitch". Obviously this only matters when there are less than 2 strikes. Mainly I just find it odd that if a guy crushes the first pitch 450 ft right down the foul line but it is just foul the count goes to 0-1.
I agree...but just from reading between the tea leaves it seems like Rob Z might give to the bullpen what Willy Adames gave to the dugout last year, which could make it an invaluable re-acquisition.
huh. I was thinking the opposite in that with a guy already at 2nd base, defense, baserunning, and making contact is more important than anything, two things the Brewers should theoretically be very good at.
I really need to remember to mute it when that ridiculous PSA of "get the big stuff right....like making sure your kids have the right size car seat blah blah blah".....
I cannot possibly think of a smaller thing to get "right" as a parent (although I'm not a parent, so what do I know)...
