  1. Well, I think that's the last we see of Black until Spring Training.
  2. This might be the smallest game they've had since June. Kinda weird. Keep it rolling though.
  3. You are bad at this. The current odds of the Brewers winning the WS are about the same as the odds of making the playoffs were on Sept 1st (or whatever date the lowest odds were)
  4. Perez will make it over Austin. Maybe he shouldn't, but that's the way it will be. I think I'd leave Guerra and Gonzalez and one of Black or Jackson off as well (whoever implodes in the last week). It's crazy that Hader is the only guy on the staff truly guaranteed to make the NLDS roster, and we are less than 2 weeks from it's start.
  5. So what you're saying is that you're good with Saladino as the starting SS? Because that (or likely an equivalent) is what we are liking looking at. We aren't going to see Turang until sometime in 2021 at the earliest. Maybe we trade for Dubon?
  6. I'm surprised the Bucs are sticking with Brault here. Make it hurt.
  7. This inning feels rather important. Get a GB DP here please.
  8. I think Pittsburgh is cheering for us this week.
  9. I love leadoff BBs and then SBs. Cain didn't do that enough this year.
  10. That was quick. Granted, the trajectory of that ball is normally to the wall/over the fence so it's understandable to not catch it...but then you can't compound the mistake by letting it get past you.
  11. I totally agree that WAR shouldn't be treated as an end-all-be-all stat. (especially considering the variation between the 2 major types), but that is what WAR really IS trying to BE--an end-all-be-all stat. So when somebody treats it that way it's hard to begrudge them for treating it that way and it actually makes more sense to rip on the stat itself as being dumb. Hmmmm....
  12. I've seen those exact words at least a dozen times. Granted I took them as blue comments because they were so obviously opinions, but they often seem to be said in a troll-ish way to get people to react the the way they do. Sometimes that person is me, but those are the joys of the internet... Facts.
  13. When does the eulogy for 2020 start?
  14. If only sarcasm could be used in interview. There are so many wonderfully inappropriate responses. (#1) "Christian was a marginal, accessory piece to our playoff push and (#2) he was blocking a couple of significant prospects who we were trying to get playing time so (#3) this is actually a blessing. If he comes back before we hoist the WS trophy--sobeit--great for him but we can do it without him too (#4-#9).
  15. If the shift is extreme Thames should bunt for a BH here.
  16. What's the point of sending injured players there? I assume they got hurt in the last couple of weeks, but I would think we could still send a replacement.
  17. Totally agree. His potential value could take a hit with the 3 batter rule next year though. It would have been fun to pull the waxahatchie swap a few times with him.
  18. If your pitchers have the talent and get hot you can get into the playoffs and do damage there. That's true for most decent teams though. Rarely does everything come together like it did for the Brewers last year--and it still wasnt quite good enough.
  19. Werent there rumors that he was tipping his pitches in June/July with the Pirates? We fixed that issue and he found his early success again? It would make some sense and wpuld be a credit to him/explain some of his poor results.
  20. I dont know how good Spangenberg is at SS. If the team would be comfortable playing him at SS in a playoff situation then they are deep enough at SS. If not, then you are down to Arcia and Perez at SS. So you are one injury away from only having one SS. This has nothing to do with Gennett though. I shouldnt have brought it up here.
  21. I'd go no more than $5 million AAV on a deal and three years at most (maybe a team option or two). I also want to be able to bring Gio back as well to keep the depth going (arguably on a 3/$10.5 or 2/$8 deal). There are only so many roster spots for veteran depth that is unoptionable...
  22. BC92 isn't crazy about wanting extend Lyles. I'm not sure how far the needle has moved to try to get it done ASAP...but that is all part of timing it right. If he pitches lights out through September he might be more expensive than we think. That's a big "if" though. The track record just doesn't scream multiple year contract.
