As others have said in this thread, the baseball season is a marathon. They just had a bad road trip. Earlier in the year they had a bad series against the Angels and 2 bad games against the Marlins. Otherwise they've mostly played well enough against the toughest competition. They have a very talented roster that has been inconsistent. If the talent in the pitching staff steps up and performs like it can (and DID last year) then this will be a very good team again come playoff time. If not, it won't be. As far as the question in the title--if they win the division then it's a successful season. If they win 95 games then it's a successful season. If neither of those things happen but they get to the WS then it's a successful season.
Yeah, this is where I'm at too. Hiura is in house, so if he takes Aguilar's spot so be it. However, I'm skeptical of jettisoning Aguilar and acquiring somebody else who is basically just like Aguilar... a streaky-ish right handed bat that only plays plays first base.
That was the most pathetic robbing of a HR I've ever seen, but really it only would have looked silly had he jumped higher...he did what he had to do and the nice SoCal fan obliged by moving his glove.
Agreed. Had it been a meatball that he crushed, then great...but it was probably ball 4...and he put a nice swing on it had the count been 1-2 or something like that. I call it a wash. Still, he's yet to make an out tonight
Weird outing from Chacin. His actual pitches have looked pretty decent...he's all over the corners but for the most part the Friars haven't been biting. And then there was a whole bunch of bad luck other than the bomb by Machado
