  1. Colorado has legalized marijuana so anything is possible and that deal would need some mind altering drugs to go down...
  2. With last year and having 3 young pitchers who haven't approached their maximum innings yet it may be hard to have a deep push into the playoffs relying on them. The Brewers are already planning on adding a 6th starter to cut down on their innings. Even adding a 6th starter at this point still means they will be at career highs (knock on wood) by the end of the year or near their max for the year. This may not be the year to make a lot of rash moves to win-it-all when you could be doing harm to those 3 very important arms. This team is hanging around 500 even with the abysmal defense. No problem waiting closer to the trade deadline to see what needs to be added if any real bargain materializes. The worst outcome would be to bet the farm, run these guys into the ground leading to injury issues down the line and MISS the World Series. Sure they could carry the team, but there are many indicators that they may not have the gas to make it all the way to the end without adding a lot of injury risk. We have these guys for 3 more years and if they continue to perform like this then Sterns needs to put together a plan for those years to get enough offense to ride them to 3 years of deep playoff runs. If Huira can't figure it out and/or Yelich can't then that's an uphill job for Sterns. IMHO the timing isn't right to go all-in this year, while the next 3 years are the window. In the playoffs most teams cut their rotation and the brewers offense won't have 5th or 6th starters to kick around and make their offense look major league. And for those who think it's worth the gamble with the current offense, no team has ever won a game if they haven't scored.
  3. I'll answer that as if you were serious. You aren't printing black and white. You are printing grayscale on a white background. It isn't that easy to adjust the black on a white background to get grayscale so they use the other dyes to make the "grays" that are part of the grayscale. I have had that happen more than once and I have usually been able to change to true black/white depending on the manufacturer (text is readable, put pictures get wonky). I believe it's Cannon that doesn't care what you change and will not print at all until you replace the empty tank (or is it Epson, or HP). They all suck. Anyone buy one of the newer Epson printers with the "bottles" of dye instead of cartridges? Most reviews say they get huge page numbers with minimal ink drop. May need to replace my old Cannon with one of the Epsons. Also, why does my HP laserjet say to close the door for the paper tray when it's closed and I have a paper jam. Just tell me I have a paper jam. Twice got the same "wrong" error.
  4. I think they'd have to expand the strike zone from I-94 to national and the plate to the roof for Pedromo to consistently throw strikes...
  5. Where's Ryan Braun today? Why did they sign Avifail Garcia if they had a set OF going into 2020? Braun was likely done for 2021 or in need of a change in his role where Grisham could have been the everyday replacement. Trent Grisham has now hit 3.6 WAR for his Padres career and Luis Urias is sitting at 0.1. Add in the +1.3 WAR from Davies over Lauer and no indication that Lauer can get anyone not in a Dodgers uniform out, there is a huge hole of performance for the Brewers to see any win from that trade. Sure it's early, but most teams don't come back from a 10 run deficit and that's what this trade looks like now...
  6. It would be interesting to see how data from the current environment (Elevated K%, reduced Hits/Runs) would change the calculations. Most of the previous analysis is relying on data from 2010-2015. Especially with the new rules for extra innings starting with a runner on 2B. Is there now statistical evidence that bunting that runner to 3B for the first hitter leads to a higher likelihood of scoring a run than leaving him at 2B and having the batters swing away. I believe it was last night that a successful bunt by the 1st batter would have lead to a 2-1 Brewer win in the 10th instead of a 6-1 kick in the ghoulies.
  7. The way the Brewers are going, TBD for the Marlin’s pitcher stands for “To Be Dominant”. I prefer TBA or “To Be Average”, but with this offense that still means they’re overmatched.
  8. Almost every pitcher today is like Nolan Ryan. Years ago he was pretty unique. Today pitchers throw a lot harder with more spin. Players have even less time to "react" today than years ago. It's no coincidence that offense is dropping with the increase in average fastball speed. Plus more teams are now using the humidor (10 out of 30) so not only is it coming at a hitter faster, it has altered physics due to the humidor. Slight timing issues will easily throw a batter off and with Hiura's foot step approach he is just adding to the problem. Adjusting swing may seem simple, but it also can dramatically impact timing and location of contact when there is little room for error/adjustment in either of those.
  9. Yep. I agree and have stated so before. The issue is from Rodgers perspective. Any team friendly deal makes him even more likely to be traded so why should he help them make it possible to trade him? (Assuming he truly does want to play out his career in GB). So the only way this works from Rodgers POV is if he has a full or significant restricted no trade clause. If Rodgers would leave money on the table to keep/get personnel around him, would the Packers give him the no trade clause?
  10. Well there's a bit of regressing to the mean going on in May. The question is where is the mean? Based on their RS/RA they are expected to be a 15-17 team. While Expected W/L is noisy over small samples and 32 is pretty small, there is enough underlying data that indicates that might be an accurate mean for the team (a sub .500 performance). Given the number of players on the IL I expect that the mean is more likely a 500 to better team that will go as far as the pitching takes them. They could still be a playoff team if the offense can come close to being average, but if it continues to be pretty bad this could be a 500 team even with 2 TOR pitchers. Hopefully the next 1-2 weeks will be the low point for the season.
  11. Don't believe any of the crap from ESPN. Rodgers hasn't done anything to defuse the situation. Not a single tweet, etc. His only comment was he was disappointed the issues came out. So even if Rodgers and his "team" are not the source, the lack of a denial means Rodgers OWNS the leaks...
  12. And the Neville Chamberlain award for 2021 goes to poster JimH. Or better known as the Appeasement Award. In a normal situation you would go out of your way to make an elite team member happy, but you need to be a good judge of character if you go down that path because when you are appeasing a pathological narcissist each step is another foot lower into the rabbit hole.
  13. I guess my question continues to be- what have the Packers done at this point to be embarrassed about? What keeps coming out in any article, tweet, etc. is that the Packers didn't feed the ego sufficiently to keep Rodgers happy. As if 1 Super Bowl win for an organization with 13 championships is any "special" achievement that they have to match every one of Rodgers wishes...
  14. I was glad they fired McCarthy. I thought the whole drama with the leaks were pretty unnecessary. Based on that situation and this it's pretty clear that if Rodgers doesn't get his way he leaks information to embarrass everyone (himself included, but he's oblivious to how this looks about him). The Packers organization isn't perfect, but how long has this organization handled itself professionally while having the most championships without having to ever air it's dirty laundry in public. Along comes Aaron Rodgers and the ego that ate a continent going to any extreme to have his way. He couldn't care less about throwing crap across the entire organization because he thinks he's earned the right. Trade him June 2 for the best return. No need to continue with him as we are just moving up the inevitable anyways. What a little man child.
  15. Maybe the Brewers could invest in a Hypnotist to tell Lauer he's pitching against the Dodgers before every start.
  16. So the Brewers put 4 men on base in the top of the 1st and they score 1 run. Almost the bare minimum (1 on, DP, then 3 on = zero). Since the 1st and 2nd outs were on strikeouts they literally scored the bare minimum. That's one impressive offense...
  17. It takes two to Tango. How do we know the whole Kumerow situation went down as the current hypothetical narrative? I believe it's standard practice to let a player know they are making a move on him. What if Gute told Kumerow that he was being released. He was clearing out his stuff and Rodgers saw him and got pissed. He went to Gute and said he wanted them to keep Kumerow and they disagreed. Rodgers takes the first chance that day to say something to a reporter to undermine the release which nobody knows about yet. The paperwork went through and Kumerow was officially realeased (press announcement). It all looks like Gute wasn't paying attention. The Packers will never release that narrative because they don't air dirty laundry. Rodgers wouldn't say anything because it makes him look like the egomaniac he is. Maybe since none of us know the actual circumstances we don't judge the situation. Being the MVP doesn't get you a free pass to tell the GM what to do with the lowest roster spots. The bottom line is that the front office, GM and head coach seem to have winning as their main priority while the MVP QB has getting his way as the primary priority. I know which group/one needs to go.
