  1. I like the idea of Rollins, but I feel like it'd take good money to pull him away from Philly. In that same respect, I wouldn't want to give him more than a 2 or 3-year deal, which he might not be interested in. Seems to circumstantial, if you ask me.
  2. Brewers 2nd-round pick Jorge Lopez is out already after taking the start for the Arizona Brewers, assumedly on a strict pitch count right now. His line: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K 1 GO:0 FO
  3. About time! Congrats to Khris! This is where he can establish himself as a legit prospect. Considering how low we are on hitting prospects, would love to see Khris prove to be the real deal.
  4. Wait...didn't Hiram Burgos pitch last night for Brevard County? Either that, or I fell asleep for 5 days. I'm lost in time! I need to seek out Doc Brown!
  5. Very true about the high WHIP. Ax had a high WHIP for a while too, doesn't mean he wasn't effective. When you allow a baserunner every time or every other time in limited appearances, it's gonna show up even if they don't score.
  6. I think Taylor Green has earned his shot. Now that his wrists seem fully recovered, it appears he's getting back to being the hitter they we're hoping he could be. The Brewers bench has really been an overlooked weak spot this season. Defensive flexibility is nice, but you need at least one guy you can count on to come up with a clutch hit. Right now, really missing anyone who is making any opposing pitcher shake when they step up to the plate. I assume that most want to see if Green can outperform McGehee, but I suppose either way, any sort of offensive upgrade to the 25-man is welcomed, whether it come as a starter or off the bench.
  7. This stinks, Zach is a very talented guy who just seems to have too much stuff going on off the field. Hopefully he gets things worked out soon and comes back up to help the club, don't feel good about leaning on Herrera in tight situations.
  8. Wow, Meadows has had pretty solid minor league numbers, never really noticed. Just adding another arm into that pen depth chart, good luck to Dan.
  9. McGehee has started to respond too, he should have had 2 hits yesterday if not for that unbelievable catch by Jay. I wish they'd pick a more definite spot for Hart though, has value in many spots in this lineup though.
  10. John Sickels did a review of the Brewers' draft at Minor League Ball. Couple noteworthy excerpts: This next one got me really excited about Lopez's potential Hey kids! An actual report on Malcolm Dowell! I'm thinking it's gonna be very important for the Brewers to spend, spend, spend. It'll get a lot easier to get excited about this class when signings start happening, especially if we can get a couple of those late-round high schoolers.
  11. Brock Kjeldegaard is on an absolute tear right now. He homered AGAIN for Brevard County today, his 17th of the season, which ties his total for all of last season. He leads the FSL and all of Adv. A with that mark. He also had an RBI single today to go with his 3-run dinger, bringing up his RBI total to 42, just 2 short of Khris Davis' 44. You can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him.
  12. Draft Impressions: National League from Perfect Game USA Milwaukee Brewers Top pick: Taylor Jungmann, RHP, Texas, 12th overall Synopsis: The Brewers had two first round picks that are somewhat interchangeable in regards to their prospective value, as they also took Georgia Tech left-hander Jed Bradley three picks after Jungmann. Jungmann has been as steady as they come through his college career, working in the low-90s with a hammer curveball and a polished three-pitch repertoire. Bradley has more of a power approach, attacking hitters with a low-90s fastball that can reach 97 while also mixing in a power slider. The Brewers took the top prospect out of Puerto Rico with their second round pick, Jorge Lopez, an extremely athletic and projectable right-hander that is also fairly polished for his relative lack of experience. Pitching overall was the team's focus in the early rounds, also adding more polished college starters in Drew Gagnon (fourth-round) and Mike Strong (10th) as well as the second coming of 'Wild Thing,' Ole Miss' David Goforth (seventh). Late Round Gem: Carlos Rodon (16th round). An easy-throwing, relatively polished lefty, Rodon throws in the 88-91 range with a power curveball. Wild Card: Malcolm Dowell (9th round). Dowell is as raw as they come, but his upside is nearly limitless thanks to his amazing athleticism. His overall baseball prowess is hard to identify since he has previously been known for his accolades on the football field more than the baseball diamond. Key to Success: It isn't too surprising the Brewers continued to focus on pitching, the organization's most glaring weakness. That weakness led to them unloading most of their premium prospective talent last offseason for Zack Greinke and Shawn Marcum, leaving the system relatively barren of talent. This draft is key in replenishing that talent.
  13. It is disconcerting, but you also don't want to draft for need. You never know what trades will go down between now and next year.
  14. Brewers 7th rounder is David Goforth, RHP, Ole Miss Holy pitching depth, Batman. 6 pitchers against 2 position players thus far. Edit: First short guy too. 5'11", 180. They exist!
  15. Another big pitcher too. Just gotta have him and Lopez build some muscle.
  16. Only picks in the first three rounds are protected.Whoops! Well then the Brewers must be very confident they can sign him.
  17. So basically as long as we pay him, he'll come play. Guess I can't complain to much about that, some guys just want their money.
  18. Reed could be a tough sign, has a commitment to Ole Miss. This is where you put that money you didn't spend earlier. Edit: As Listach said, second round money. I think it's a protected pick too.
  19. Have any Wisconsin kids been taken yet? They seem as absent so far as prospects out of UW-Madison have been for the past 20 some years...
  20. Alright gang, first position player is on the board! 1B Nicholas Ramirez
  21. Like others have said, I think it's just the way the chips have fallen. In another universe, they may have gone Baez and Jungmann had other guys been picked ahead of them. It seems like they are going with best talent available according to their reports.
  22. Can say this much for the Brewers draft so far: these guys are huge. Here's some stuff on Gagnon: More here.
  23. Royals just took a guy named Bryan Brickhouse, what a name. He will be doomed to the Commodores' song in every stadium he enters for the rest of his career.
  24. I hope they spend money later, especially since we all know it's not gonna go to Fielder. Would be nice to find another guy like Scarpetta in the later rounds, minus the service time restrictions :-\
  25. It sounds like the Brewers got really good value for this kid, a nice high upside guy.
