  1. High school arm right out of the gate, wow.
  2. Yeah, that seems to be the consensus feeling, though some others on different sites and blogs sounded a little more distraught, which sort of confused me. Lots of mixed reports on Bradley, but I think both should be given a chance. Jungmann has grown on me the more I read about him, seems like there is still potential there as you noted. Bradley's second pitch is reall his changeup, right? Not his slider as some have noted?
  3. That's pretty much my thoughts too in a nutshell, although I will admit I was peeved that the Cubs of all teams took Baez yesterday. As if we all needed another reason to hate them, lol. Not to diss anyone here or in the other blogospheres, but most of the folks who sounded upset with the Brewers picks were the bloggers and fans, while most of draft experts and scouts think it's solid. Maybe not great, but certainly not bad. My only hope now is that one or both of these guys pan out, and that we take advantage of this deep draft throughout the rest of the rounds, could be some star power coming from an unexpected spot.
  4. At least we have 2 picks to keep our attention. Andddd it's official: Cole is #1 overall pick.
  5. How many rounds are they doing toight? Just the 1st and the supplemental?
  6. I'm in the Baez/Lindor and Gray pool as well, seems like a solid combo. Although, given the option, I'd prefer Lindor over Baez. Lindor is young and still has a lot of potential with the bat, besides being an excellent shortstop already. Can't help but think he could be a another Tulo. Obviously that's a stretch since he's never played a game of pro ball, but I'd love a player like that.
  7. I like that list, but I actually wouldn't mind Springer if we landed him. We'll see though, I'm sure a lot of us have our fingers crossed for Lindor to fall, though I've really warmed up to the idea of Baez in the last couple days. I love bat first guys, but it'd really be nice to get someone whose glove isn't a liability. The slight lean on bats is understandable, I just read an article today discussing why it's smarter to go for a hitter early in the 1st round instead of a pitcher, since most pitchers from the top ten picks don't pan out at all. You can read it here if you'd like. It's an interesting point to be made too, since many are expecting 4 of the first 5 picks tomorrow to be pitchers.
  8. Is it really the end of the world if they draft Baez and he becomes a 3B? Feels like there isn't much depth in the system at any position on the left side of the infield...kind of a win-win, especially if he's a bat first who could handle 3rd better.
  9. Yeah, but I'm starting to get a little nervous we're gonna be doing an overdraft at #15 now, or so the rumor goes. Kevin Goldstein having them take Levi Michael is very groan inducing, so I hope that Toby's report on Baez is at least true in that respect. Should be signable, even if he's not considered a "very" safe pick. Hopefully whoever we take at #12 is worth our while regardless. I still just don't see how the Brewers pass up on a pitcher with one of these picks, and barring Lindor being there at 12, it almost has to be a pitcher based on principle alone.
  10. http://static.images.memegenerator.net/Instances400/7/7899/8088582.jpg
  11. I really haven't had much of a problem with Roenicke so far. Uses Loe a little more than I'd like, but beyond that, seems to be a good mind on the game. Can't help but feel like he's still getting the hang of everything though, not that I or anyone else here is smarter than him when it comes to decision making, but there are some things that he does which makes me think he doesn't totally know his team yet. Seems to have gotten better as the year has gone on though, think he needs till August or September before we can make any real assessment of him.
  12. I really don't mind a college bat, but not sure I'd wanna see them take any of them at 12 unless it's Lindor. I wonder how much they're planning on spending, hopefully they're willing to open their wallets a little bit to sign some better talent, Bradley looks like a nice player.
  13. I love how he goes "if you take away NINE game road trip, the Brewers have been great defensively". Taking away a start from a pitcher is one thing, but you can't ignore a quarter of the games so far.
  14. Much better 2nd inning by Wolf, needs a couple more like that to get deep into this game.
  15. It's probably Nieves' fault. No, he probably still blames Lucroy for being in the ballpark.
  16. Wolf looks a little all over the place so far.
  17. It's the Ned Yost Sunday lineup! No Counsell though, hmm... No problem with Kotsay starting, but that stretch of Betancourt-Nieves-Gomez is ugllyyy. Go Brewers!
  18. The Muscle! Unfortunately, it appears Branyan's back issues have slowed him a bit this season. I'd be all for giving him a minor league deal and seeing what he has left, though.
  19. My thinking as well, Colby. If Rendon is still there at 2 and the medical records come out clear, Seattle takes him. If not, Lindor isn't so odd. I wasn't aware of the continuing shoulder problems. As for the Brewers, I really like Matt Barnes with one of those picks. Good fastball and good command of his pitches are the types of things I like to hear. Agreed that #15 seems like a total wildcard right now, but I wouldn't be disappointed with Guerrieri, really feeling 'eh' on Greene.
  20. That must be pending who the Pirates go with, because it would seem really odd for Seattle to go with Lindor over Rendon. My friend is a huge Mariners fan, and from the sounds of things from his end, Seattle likes Rendon if he's there at #2. Well, at least he wants them to take him, lol.
  21. I think you will be hard pressed to see the Brewers picking a HS player with the #15 pick. Just the fact that they could lose it if he doesn't sign seems enough to scare them off. Feels like they go best talent available at #12 and college pitcher at #15. Matt Barnes could very well be the guy at #15, and that seems like solid value there, even if Bradley is still available. I've seen him as high as 8 and as low as 20. Lindor would be awesome at #12, I just don't know if he falls there.
  22. They're almost better off starting Hart in CF and Kotsay in RF. Almost. Kotsay in CF is one thing. But at Petco park? You're just asking for the Padres to dink and dunk you to death.
  23. I'd agree his offspeed pitches will dictate how good he becomes, but the important thing right now is that he's pounding the zone more and more. Look how control derailed Parra's campaign as a starter, and look how successful Marcum has been because he throws strikes. At 20, I think the hope now is that he continues to show his improved command as he moves up and continues to develop his breaking pitches. At the major league level, velocity helps, but plenty of guys have been successful pitchers doing everything else right but throwing hard. Mid to back of the rotation guy sounds about right, but is still quite important, especially since we have 3 starting pitcher's contracts expiring after next season.
  24. One of the things I recall hearing is that a lot of veteran pitchers like to kind of call their own games, and it appears as though Wolf is one of those guys. I think the difficult sign theory is a good one, and it kind of adds into it, but I also think Wolf and Lucroy just have a different idea of what gameplan they should go for. Nobody really knows for sure other than them, and I doubt we'll ever really get any answer. I have no problem with Wolf having a different catcher...just as long as it's not Nieves, which unfortunately it is right now.
  25. D'vo raised his average 47 points with his 6-hit day, that's pretty fun to see. I'm becoming more and more enamored by the class in Brevard right now. Not really any "can't miss" guys, but a good amount of potential. Really would like to see the organization push some of its older talent though, put guys like Heckathorn, Morris, and Davis on the fast track to see what they're really made of. They can take their time with Gennett and Bucci who are both still shy of 21. Edit: My mistake, Scooter turned 21 two weeks ago. Still young, though, and certainly no rush for him with Weeks firmly in place with the Brewers.
