  1. Long term it is probably good. Short term I think this could drastically hurt the Brewers payroll as well as the Bucks for fans who care about them. Losing out on this money is a big deal for these teams
  2. This could effect the Brewers and other similar clubs as a big part of the money they make comes from their TV contract. If they don't get paid this could effect their payroll https://cordcuttersnews.com/bally-sports-rsns-are-reportedly-preparing-for-bankruptcy/
  3. Yea it wouldn't be much, I think Theo was had for the other Chris Carpenter
  4. I am far from the type who dislikes every signing. I quite liked the Wade Miley signing, but this one just isn't it for me. If it was just to give him a chance to compete that'd be one thing, but to guarantee him at minimum 1-2 months worth of at bats just doesn't seem smart to me. He flat-out hasn't been good the last two seasons. MLB History is littered with players who popped up for a couple years then faded away to being bad players(ex. Travis Shaw). Maybe he turns into 2018-2020 Brian Anderson, or maybe he's just not that guy anymore, and I don't understand why we needed to give him a guaranteed contract to find out.
  5. I guess I just don't understand guaranteeing a job to someone whose OPS+ the last two seasons has been under 100. If we assume the Brewers want to keep Turang down for service time reasons I'd still rather roll with an open competition for that 4th IF spot over just giving it to Anderson
  6. I don't love giving Anderson 3.5 guarenteed. Seems like he'll have a guarenteed roster spot and PT with that deal where as I was hoping he'd have to earn it.
  7. From 2018-2020 Brian Anderson was good. The last two years not so much 2021 he has an OPS+ of 94, and last year it was even worse at 87. This would be like when they handed 3b to Travis Shaw a couple years ago
  8. Only had an OPS+ of 87 last season, not exactly inspiring, hopefully just a bench bat or NRI I can't wait to hear Brian Anderson call Brian Anderson games though
  9. I'd take a flier on him. Nothing special but looks like a guy you can plug in against lefties. Sort of like a Brosseau for the Outfield
  10. I do think BTV is probably high on the value Tatis has. He has raised some serious question marks. Not that I think he has negative value or anything like that or that this will happen. But I could certainly see them selling low on him compared to this
  11. I can't imagine this is true but just throwing this out there. Hypothetically I would assume SD would kick in a ton of money. No idea what a fair return would be
  12. I would try and buy out 2 years of Free Agency. It would take him into his early 30s, that said he also might not go for it for that very reason. Some guys are more open to locking up Free Agent years than others
  13. Curious what is driving the difference on his defensive metrics. He's 91st percentile in OAA but -0.7 dwar(tied for last on CLE last season) & he was -1 DRS as well. Those seem like polar opposites. He's also very fast but rarely steals bases. Would assume him & Toro will battle in spring for the Jace Peterson role with the other being optioned to Nashville
  14. Payamps had a 3.23 ERA last year & a 3.35 career ERA. He wasn't getting DFA'd
  15. And it is certainly possible they will. Right now Devin is the closer and some combo of Bush/Strezlecki/Guerra are likely your main set up guys. But even just having to dip into the minors for guys it seems Arnold completely overhauled the guys on "the shuttle"
  16. An underrated part of the Brewers offseason so far is Matt Arnold adding depth to the Brewers bullpen. Adding guys like Junk, Peguero, Seminaris, Guerra, Varland, Payamps & Yeager, plus young prospects like Uribe & Cam Robinson. Our bullpen could be drastically different in 2023 If you believe that Frelick & Turang can put up similar WAR to Renfroe & Wong then we added nearly all of that depth without diminishing the rest of the roster.
  17. I mean Ruiz was graded on almost all prospect lists behind Chourio, Frelick, Mitchell, & Wiemer. I do think there is something to Ruiz being slightly undervalued due to stolen bases becoming a bigger part of the game going forward but even considering that there is almost no chance his value was that of a 25 year old All Star Catcher who is under control for another 5 seasons, let alone 2 pitchers on top of that
  18. That sure is a lot of maybe's and might's you seem to be counting on
  19. I think it's likely Turang starts in AAA. Considering he's unlikely to be a top 100 guy the upside to him starting in the Bigs is limited as opposed to keeping him in AAA for a few weeks to get another year of control
  20. I think it's likely the Brewers open the season with all 3 of Burnes, Woodruff, & Adames and that 2 of the 3 likely get dealt next offseason and 1 of them extended(Adames seems the most likely) What could change that is if the Mets miss out on Verlander/Rodon and offer a kings ransom for Woodruff or Burnes
  21. I feel like the 2023 upside is if Winker can bounce back to his 2020 or 2021 version of play. He was outstanding those seasons and would have been our best bat last year. Toro feels like the new Jace. Could start the year in a platoon with Brosseau until Turang comes up
  22. And they could have just kept giving at bats to Lorenzo Cain who had an OPS+ of 34. Mitchell was still in AA at the time of the Cain move
  23. This was my first thought. A perfect stop gap 5th OF to have in the bigs until Frelick & Wiemer are "ready"(AKA service time). Then after a few weeks and a handful of starts he'll go back to AAA
  24. I don't see the big deal with the Singleton addition. He mashed righties in AAA last season and I doubt the Brewers are just handing him a starting job. He'll probably given a chance to earn PT in spring training, then if he makes the team it'll probably be as a backup or in a pinch hitter role. If he doesn't produce he'll likely be given the boot early on or not even make the squad if he has a poor spring.
