Yea it should be one or the other. If Wiemer can't hit righties he should be in the minors for a bit to figure that out and gain that extra year. If he's in the bigs he should be playing. Having him in the bigs and not playing is just a waste
Right now he's not a good hitter, which is why it would make perfect sense to send him down now. Just because he isn't a good hitter now doesn't mean he won't be a good hitter down the line
I'm not sure how you can say he isn't that type of player when basically every scouting report on him states that as his ceiling. If he hits his ceiling we Will absolutely wish we had that extra year of control
Frelick is nearly as good of a defender in CF. Wiemer hasn't been good with the bat so I think it's fair to assume Frelick atleast wouldn't be a downgrade. I just don't think sending Wiemer down for 2 weeks will substantially hurt the team in any way and has the potential to actually help the team if Wiemer can figure his swing out while also having the added benefit of the Brewers gaining an extra year of control
Was sending Turang down for a couple weeks a dumb decision? He's also an elite defender who has struggled with the bat. If Wiemer was tearing it up I'd agree with you but sending him to AAA for a few weeks could actually benefit him & the team
Nah. Wiemer has an OPS of .633 in July & .678 on the season as a whole. It would be perfectly reasonable to send him down for 2 weeks to get right, similar to what they did for Turang
I think it'd be interesting to see here, Who is the worst player you guys would be willing to trade Chourio for 1 for 1. BTV has Kevin Gausman & Francisco Alvarez as the two closest players rated in terms of value to him
His first inning was phenomenal, 2 ks and a weak pop up. The 2nd inning though was a struggle, there was distractions with the phantom balk & CC getting thrown out. He definitely wasn't as sharp either but you could absolutely see the stuff in the 1st inning
Mannion has been terrible imo, and his rights belong to GSW anyway so not sure why he's even playing with us.
Nunn is probably the best PG left on the market by a long shot but man I'd have a really hard time rooting for him considering his off court issues.
They switched the type of position players they went after a few years ago and have mostly gotten positive results. Mitchell, Wiemer, Frelick, Turang, Black. We're starting to see the results and they are mostly positive
The Brewers are very model heavy but it's mainly worked out for them the last few years. I haven't really studied anyone in depth but I trust them to make solid picks
