  1. I would argue Darvish was the response to Yelich/Cain
  2. Morales did it a few years ago
  3. What could Boston offer as far as prospects or pitching?
  4. HH on Twitter says we have discussed Broxton for Cotton. I would do that
  5. Curious how others prefer fantasy leagues handle Ohtani?
  6. Yes. And I think it's pretty fair both ways.
  7. I mean if they gave us a decent prospect or two I would be fine with the move. Just hope we immediately DFA Kemp. Don't see him adding anything to our roster.
  8. Appreciate it!
  9. Is this 2.4 mil guaranteed? Did we ever find out? Seems like right now he'd get caught by a numbers crunch but if it's guaranteed I think they find a way to keep him.
  10. So there seems to be a lot of smoke around Odorizzi. I know he has two years left. But I don't know a ton about him other than that. Is he a #3? #4?
  11. I’d take Pavin Smith and Corbin for Santana. Smith is expected to move through the minors in a hurry. He and Hiura would be a great combo working there way through the minors together. I would want a low level prospect thrown in too but I agree. Grab another lottery ticket pitcher that our scouts like.
  12. There's "ace" and there's "top of rotation". To me personally, "ace" is reserved for those elite guys listed above (Sale, Kluber, Scherzer, Kershaw). Then there's a next tier of really, really, good #1's like Greinke, Carrasco, Severino, DeGrom, E Santana, Verlander, etc. So to you only Kluber Sale Kershaw & Scherzer pitched like aces last year? Cause that is my question.
  13. How many pitchers were aces in 2017 to you guys?
  14. IMO an "ace" is the same thing as saying someone is a #1 pitcher. By definition with 30 teams that means there are 30 #1 pitchers. No, if Jeff Suppan was a teams #1 pitcher coming into the season would you call him a #1 pitcher just because he is at the top of a teams rotation? I didn't say each team had an ace. Just that I considered the 30 best pitchers in baseball as aces. An example is when Greinke & Kershaw we're together on the Dodgers.
  15. Could just be that the Cubs want the pick that they will be getting for Arrieta to replenish their Farm System
  16. So is there a different word that you use to describe the Kershaws and Klubers of the game? Nothing specific other than maybe elite. IMO if you say there are 150 SP's in MLB at a given time. IMO the top 30 are 1's or aces, the next 30 are 2's or TOR pitchers, 61-90 are #3's, etc.
  17. IMO an "ace" is the same thing as saying someone is a #1 pitcher. By definition with 30 teams that means there are 30 #1 pitchers.
  18. An ace IMO is a top 30 pitcher in baseball. a TOR is a top 60 pitcher in baseball.
  19. Why would you expect Chacin to throw 200 innings when he never has? His only 3 seasons where he has a full season worth of starts he has pitched 197, 194, & 180 innings. Maybe he doesn't hit the 200 mark but I think he throws 190ish quality innings this season. I might have exaggerated slightly.
  20. I mean Ohtani seems like the obvious choice here. But ill go ahead and pick something different. I really liked the Cardinals trade for Ozuna & the Twins signing Reed. I think both teams got great value on those moves. As far as The Crew goes I think an underrated move is the signing of Chacin. I expect 200 quality innings from him.
  21. So remember last year when the Mets had to play D'arnaud in the infield and they kept moving him around to try and have him avoid grounders. Why hasn't this been done more? Take Arcia for example, wouldn't it be wise to switch him between 2nd & SS based on whether a Right or lefty is up to try and put your fielders in better positions to help you. Is there something I'm missing?
  22. I really think part of the problem is how much minor league control teams have. Not the six major league seasons. I personally would like to see an option year cut out and maybe one less year of minor league control for players coming out of college
  23. How long do you think guys will hold out for? At this point I don't think Darvish is getting much higher of an offer. Same for the other players.
  24. Honestly, I don't get the need to move Santana. If you can move Broxton for some low level minor leaguers you like, and do the same with Aguilar. You help replenish your farm system and I think there are plenty of at bats to go around for Yelich, Cain, Santana, Braun, & Thames. Sure one will have to be on the bench each day but Braun & Cain get plenty of days off, you can sit Thames vs lefties.
  25. This is a little bit misleading though. In the game of basketball there are only 5 players on the court for each team. And a majority of the best players play roughly 2/3 of each game. As an example LeBron James effects the game he plays more than Mike Trout does. In the NFL, since 2000 the NFC has had all but 4 teams make it to the Superbowl. The AFC has been more steady handed I will give you. But the parity in the NFC is pretty darn good. But in all honesty I think it's the nature of the game itself. Baseball doesn't need to do much for "competitive balance" because even the best players don't really effect the game that much. It is much more of a true team sport. Where baseball lacks is if your a fan of a small market club it is hard to really fall in love with a player knowing that player will most likely leave at free agency because your team can't afford him. Imagine if the Brewers had Trout or Kershaw. No way they could afford either. Sure they could deal them for prospects and still win which is the ultimate goal. But it's hard to have that connection to specific players like Packer fans do with Rodgers/Favre or Bucks fans do with Giannis.
