  1. It's just incredibly tone deaf. Brewer fans don't want to hear from a cub fan about Counsell going to their team. This is a Brewers site, there are several other writers to write articles about it
  2. There is a very large difference between that and having a Cubs fan write an article on a Brewers site about Counsell leaving the Brewers for the Cubs.
  3. I can accept the idea of rooting for the Brewers and an AL team possibly. But the Brewers & the Cubs? No chance
  4. Just popping in to say I agree it's ridiculous having a Cubs fan write Brewers analysis on a Brewers website.
  5. He'd certainly be the most fun choice. Tbh I'm not sure any of us can credibly say who the best choices are. Baseball is so weird in that managers come from very different backgrounds all the time and have success. I'm very confident Arnold will hire someone he believes can implement the analytical data that the Front office gives them, the bigger question to me is can the new guy implement a good clubhouse culture in a similar manner that Counsell was able too. Who that person is? I have no idea. The only guy listed I really don't want is Mattingly
  6. When they hired Counsell he inherited his whole original staff
  7. While I'd never condone vandalism, if that's the worst that happens then it's really no big deal. There was always going to be alot of blowback on Counsell after marketing himself as a hometown hero and "one of us". As long as there is no real harassment of Counsell or his family then it's whatever to me and I'm not going to get that worked up over it
  8. This pretty interesting to me, that the assistant coaches all agreed to re-up with the organization despite not knowing the future of Counsell
  9. If there was any doubt, the Brewers did not have an opportunity to match the Cubs offer
  10. "wanted to go to the Cubs"
  11. It's an absolutely terrible look for Counsell imo that he was already thinking of leaving while in the middle of a division race and before the playoffs even started. The more that comes out the more I hate CC
  12. Sounds like Counsell didn't give us a chance to match. The more that comes out the more I hate CC
  13. I doubt Ross feels the same way
  14. I find it extremely hypocritical for him to say he was doing this for the good of all managers while actively engaging with a team that already had a manager that he knew would get fired as a result of his direct action
  15. The Brewers have an owner who outspends his market size by quite a bit & has been one of the best run teams in MLB for nearly a decade. It's resulted in 8 straight big market WS winners and the Brewers only getting close once. Honestly the Brewers have basically no shot
  16. I just continue to get turned off by baseball at such a rapid pace these days. Honestly the only reason I keep watching is because it's the only sport in the summer. The Brewers are essentially the equivalent of a G5 in college football. The system is rigged for big markets
  17. I have a hard time calling Mark cheap for offering Craig to be the highest paid manager in MLB. I'd have wanted him to match as well but I don't think Mark is being cheap. Counsell is now under contract for more than double any other manager in MLB
  18. The really weird thing here is Counsell was reportedly all about trying to get the most $ to help out all other managers. But now he's just taking a job of someone currently employed? Make it make sense
  19. Interesting he says that $8 million is unrealistic
  20. Brewers will get an opportunity to match whatever Counsell's top offer is but he won't take a hometown discount. Counsell reportedly wants to be paid atleast $7 mil per year which $2 mil more than what the highest paid manager this past year
  21. I think most of us would agree the legislation itself is likely dumb and a waste, but you're right, sports bring us joy and we're willing to pay for Milwaukee to have an MLB team. I personally like having major sports in the state, I don't want to become Louisville, Albuquerque, or Omaha(cities of similar size to Milwaukee that don't have professional teams).
