  1. its a tough call whether to bring him up as backup to Kendall next year. Clearly Kendall, even with a weak bat, does so much behind the plate, that you got to keep him. The way he plays makes it seem like he would make a perfect coach. Angel isnt ready defensively so, he could learn from JK and provide a great pinch hit bat. On the other hand, keeping his bat playing in spot duty might hinder his offense..
  2. well, bringing in McClung, Parra, Villanueva, & Torres..we'd better win this
  3. yeah this ump is pathetic.. brewers got jobbed this game
  4. take a look at gameday and tell me 3 of those balls werent strikes
  5. unbelievable squeezing going on. I'm still trying to figure out how 3 of those were balls.
  6. If anybody tell you that I missed prospects, if Melvin say I missed prospects and y'all hear it, then that's that. I mean, I might have missed one prospect this year but if somebody says he doesn't like this prospect, it can be one prospect out of all the prospects this year, that's enough. I told Yost that you don't have to give the people of Milwaukee a reason to think about trading me or anything like that. If you trade somebody, you trade them to make the team better...simple as that. I'm cool with that. I'm all about that. The people in Milwaukee deserve to have a winner. It's simple as that. It goes further than that ... If I can't have a prospect, I can't have a prospect, man if I'm hurt, I'm hurt. It is as simple as that. It ain't about that. It's not about that at all. But it's easier to talk about it. It's easier to sum it up when you're just talking about prospects. We're sitting here, and I'm supposed to be the franchise player, and we're in here talking about prospects. I mean listen, we're talking about prospects. Not a star, not a star, not a star, we're talking about prospects. Not a star, not the star that goes out there and die for and plays every game like it's the last, not the star, we're talking about prospects man. I mean, how silly is that? We're talking about prospects. I know that I'm supposed to be there, I know I'm supposed to lead by example. I know that. And I'm not shoving that aside, you know, like it don't mean anything. I know it's important. I do. I honestly do, but we're talking about prospects, man. What are we talking about? Prospects? We're talking about pospects man. We're talking about prospects. We're talking about prospects. We ain't talking about the star. We're talking about prospects, man. When you come to the ballpark, and you see me play, you see me play don't you? You see me give everything I've got, right? but we're talking about prospects right now. ... Man, look, I hear you, it's funny to me too, I mean, it's strange to me too but we're talking about prospects man. We're not even talking about the star, the actual star, when it matters. We're talking about prospects. How the hell can I make my teammates better by prospects?
  7. lets suppose the Brewers just asked Green to finish the year at second base, then what?
  8. appreciate it!
  9. I'd really love to see Matt get a quick callup for the Tribe. Give their fans something to be excited about and give us a look at what we're missing out on.
  10. with the CC trade, Cubs just became frontrunner for the wildcard
  11. the fact that he hanst refuted Green while refuting others, then his comments about "I hadnt thought of them looking for a defensive switch" when backtracking on Green being safe, then saying "it will be a big player", then the moaning on his blog about concerns over Green tells me he's definitely in play here.
  12. going by "agent39"s comments, Green is definitely in the mix and Brantley & Cain are not.
  13. I dont see any way that Escobar is a utility player next year. I think you try doing that if you have a bat that want to play somewhere, not a glove. Escobar's value is at SS, and its because of his defensive range. No way they move him.
  14. I think it could very well be Cain vs Green vs Brantley. Brantley's lack of power makes him somewhat expendable for a AA hitter, but he is still intriguing & young. Green holds the most value to the Brewers, but the Indians want to see him at 2B. Cain just got called up, so maybe they want to see him against tougher pitching..
  15. hmm, I would take Gamel over a bench player or two right now.
  16. what are the guesses on how this roster will look for the playoffs? Looking for serious predictions accounting for trades and minor leaguers. Is it likely we see Gamel, Pena, or Nelson? Roberts from the Os?
  17. good thoughts GP. I think the Crew could be a trade partner, but not likely the names you mention. The Crew has a lot of good names aside from those first thought of in these trade rumors. The Brewers aren't likely to deal for Luke Scott or Huff, because they have the #1 hottest lefty bat in the minors right now in Mat Gamel that plays 3B (poorly) and is athletic enough to fill a corner OF spot this year. Hardy is a vital part of this year's team, with a couple of years left as well, so it wouldnt make sense to trade him for Roberts at all. Weeks plus a good prospect would be a good trade as Weeks has a few years and upside left. Escobar is pretty much untouchable as he will likely be the SS of the future for the franchise, and they could move JJ to 2B. The Huntsville AA club is loaded up and down with hitting prospects, so there are some serious trading chips there. Three of the top prospects are catchers, and they won't all play, so I think Angel Salome straight up is a possibility. Here is a little past/present list of AA players: Mat Gamel .378/.440/.631 (1.071) Matt Laporta .291/.405/.582 (.987) Ryan Braun .303/.367/.589 (.956) Angel Salome .330/.385/.502 (.887) Cole Gillespie .276/.374/.508 (.882) Chris Errecart .288/.360/.506 (.866) Prince Fielder .272/.366/.473 (.839) Michael Brantley .324/.403/.412 (.815) Corey Hart .302/.340/.467 (.807) (LEAGUE MVP) JJ Hardy .279/.367/.428 (.795) Alcides Escobar .327/.349/444 (.793) Rickie Weeks .259/.366/.407 (.773)
  18. Based on recent history, I would be shocked if the Brewers cant sign Lintz & Lawrie. That leaves Knecht & Billings as the only 2 guys in the top 26 unsigned. Anyone know anything about these 2 and what their story is?
  19. wow, that would be AWESOME! As someone that lives in appleton and goes to the rattlers about once or twice a year, actually by my wife's pressing, this would really be amazing for me, especially if Z can be kept around in some capacity so we have great prospects to watch...
  20. I definitely hope not Escobar & Laporta... thats 12 years of 2 studs gone to waste. My hope is that Gamel, Escobar, & Jeffress are off the books, as they are too valuable to this franchise's future. Maybe a straight-up Gamel or Escobar, but the tribe wont do that. I'm thinking Laporta/Lucroy or Salome/Green is pretty fair trade. Laporta is a great prospect without much a chance behind Prince, Braun, Hart, and potentially Gamel, and he bats righty. Salome is also without a position, and his defense is a ways away. Green and Lucroy are still in A-ball, so they have the most to prove. Escobar's range is very valuable to the franchise, and he should bolster the infield over Weeks or Hardy. The other part not mentioned here is that CC is an obvious Type A, so we get half a year of CC plus 2 high draft picks.
  21. I wouldnt limit Escobar's ceiling like that. While Jeffress ceiling is a staff ace, Escobar's range is off the charts and if his bat continues to improve, he could move just as high.
  22. nice to see Gamel break out of his mini-slump with 3 hits through 5 innings
  23. great to see Jeffress racking up the Ks once again as well..
