  1. Well, that wasn't a great start. Sogard stays hot with a single and then leaves too early and is picked off.
  2. It honestly wouldn't be the worst thing for this organization not be good this year. It seems as though we are always in this eh...we are good enough to make a run at the playoffs come the all-star break and I think it ends up hurting us more than anything. I don't think we can compete with the Central this year, even with everything going our way this year I think it would be a stretch for a WC, that said might be nice to have somewhat of a fire sale come the all-star break.
  3. So it is likely that Greinke has made his last start in Milwaukee this year, so who takes his spot in the rotation on Sunday? Do we just bump everyone up a day or who in AAA is scheduled to start on Sunday? Doesn't seem like Thornburg will be the guy since he has arm fatigue now. Thoughts?
  4. I only see a few pieces moved, obviously Greinke, you try to get something for any of our bullpen arms not named Axford but doubtful you get anything other than maybe salary relief from KRod. Try to move Wolf but that is also unlikely you get much of anything from him either. Try to trade Morgan, maybe get something low out of him but again no high expectations. You can't trade Marcum, definitely trade one of Kottaras or Maldanado, I'd rather hang onto Maldanado. I'm not sure they move Weeks as they would be selling incredibly low right now. Then I think they try to move either Hart OR ARam as someone else said above as you could get a decent return from them. Other than that do you really think any team is going to want to trade for our crap (Ishikawa, Izturis, Ransom) doubtful.
  5. Weeks after his 4 for 4 showing today is finally hitting .200!
  6. If that were his MLB on base % I would agree with you.
  7. Plus he strikes out a lot, can't imagine having a lineup with Olt, Weeks and Hart. We'd be a strikeout machine.
  8. Saying you want them to lose and saying you want them to trade Greinke are two completely different statements. I am torn on the Greinke thing, if you can get some talent for him then yes go ahead and trade him, if you can't get much for him why not ride the season in hopes we slide into that last playoff spot rather than trading him for whatever you can get. People on here and "experts" are all over the place on what we can actually get for him anyway. You can't tell me out of the teams in the WC contention that we would definitely lose a one game playoff with Greinke on the mound. Yes resigning Marcum is easier said than done but regardless of if we trade Greinke or he walks we are going to have to do something. I find it VERY hard to believe that the FO would be ok with a rotation of Gallardo and 4 of the following: Narv, Estrada, Fiers, Thornburg, Peralta, Rodgers etc. So whether that signing is Marcum or a different FA. As much as some of you hate how this team is run, this isn't a team that wants to rebuild. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing can be debated at length but MA seems to always want to win, he has shown that with some of the trades he has made. They will do what it takes to make this team competitive next year whether it is with Greinke/Marcum or someone else.
  9. Yeah it is a horrible situation a friend of a friend of mine was there and got shot in the leg, the person he was there with who I do not know was also shot in the arm.
  10. A lot of people are saying on here that if we don't resign Greinke or trade him for prospects we are done for the next 2-3 years. If we play out the season and don't trade or resign Greinke do you really think we are just going to go with Gallardo and a bunch of unproven rookies in the rotation. I understand Greinke is an elite pitcher but I highly doubt we lose Greinke and Marcum next year. So lets say we stand pat and do nothing at the deadline. We have a team capable of making a run at the playoffs and in the off season we lose Greinke, KRod we resign Marcum (hopefully he is healthy) and then go after a FA pitcher and look for SS and Bullpen help. I don't see how we are that much worse off next year, we certainly aren't going to be the Cubs or Stros this year. Also those of you who say they don't care about the WC play in game are out of your mind. We have a VERY solid 1/2 punch in the rotation with another very solid likely somewhat fresh Marcum as a 3rd. Plus if there is any chance we make it to that WC play in game, you'd have to think our pen has made a significant turn around. So I don't see how, if we are to make the playoffs as a WC team, that we don't have a legitimate shot at being last years Cardinals. We have the pieces to make a run. All these doom and gloom posts about wanting us to lose are ridiculous.
  11. Unless we are blown away for an offer on Greinke I'd just rather play the season out and take my chances on signing him this off season. I know it is unlikely since he'll be getting offers for 6+ years at which point I don't think we should sign him but it's not like we are the cubs right now. We are capable of playing a good 2nd half and who knows what could happen. I think the only person at this point that we shop is KRod, get some salary relief, maybe a middle level prospect.
  12. Baldkin, I live in Denver and have hiked a few 14ers, it's a great place and if you've never hiked a 14er and are in somewhat decent shape I'd definitely recommend it. It's an experience like no other and the views are incredible. As far as Brewpubs there is a new one in the highlands called Denver Beer Co that is supposed to be good, Highland Tap and Burger is probably the best burger I've ever had, Ale House also in the highlands has really good views of downtown, Cherry Cricket in Cherry Creek has been featured on the food network for their burgers too. There are Brewery tours pretty much anywhere you turn in Denver/Fort Collins/Boulder, I've heard of this Brews tour downtown that takes you around to a few of them which sounds cool, not sure what exactly it is called, tons of great golfing around here if that is your thing. As far as where to sit, one of my favorite places is the pavilions in left field, tickets are pretty cheap about $15 a ticket gets you within 5 rows of the field, other than that if you're looking for cheap the rockpile is only like $5-$8 a ticket and I personally prefer those over any other upper deck ticket.
  13. Plus the Garza or Dempster or even Hamels that Melvin will go all in for.... I think the Brew Crew will continue winning and Melvin will be a buyer at the deadline. Of course, said predicted winning streak depends a lot on the health of #8 No way we add a starter at the deadline with how Fiers and Estrada have been doing and hopefully getting Marcum back sometime soon here. Definitely not a glaring need for us by any means. IF, which is a big if we do become buyers the only positions we should be looking at are relief pitching and SS and should not give up any of our top ~10 prospects.
  14. I think 2 out of 3 vs the Reds makes it pretty hard to warrant selling, we would just have won 3 series in a row against the 3 teams ahead of us in the division and would likely jump ahead of at least a couple teams in the WC race.
  15. It's really the next 3 series that will tell a lot. We have a pretty tough stretch the next 3 series with @Reds, @Phillies (facing Halladay and Lee) and vs Nationals (looks like we will be missing Strasburg and Gonzalez though) although starting with the reds I think we need to take 2 of 3 there or we need to start taking offers for Greinke/Krod at the very least. We do that and we need to have a winning record vs the Phillies and the Nationals and then we are in a position where we have a legit shot at making a run for the playoffs. If we make the playoffs we do have one hell of a 1/2 punch with Greinke and Gallardo so anything can happen at that point.
  16. Something I haven't thought of.....Maybe it is possible there is a trade in the works and the team trading for Greinke is willing to sweeten the deal if we throw in our competitive lottery pick if we are to get one. Would make sense, Greinke was scheduled to pitch about the same time the lottery takes place today. If I were trading for Greinke I would definitely want him out of the rotation but would want to wait until I knew if the Brewers had an extra pick available as well.
  17. According to Cot's KRod has performance bonuses for # of games finished $125k each for 15, 20, 25 and $250k for 30. Granted that won't matter a whole lot if we trade him.
  18. Granted I don't think we do sign him
  19. I don't see signing Greinke as a going for it now attitude so to speak. You have to think unless we go 4-1 over the next 5 games that the ownership starts to come to the conclusion that we are done for this year. However signing Greinke would give them the ability to have a shot at competing again next year. If we sign him, next year we lose Marcum, Wolf, Krod who all have decent price tags right now (you try to trade Krod and maybe Morgan before the deadline now), you plug in 3 of Fiers, Estrada, Narv, Thornberg, Peralta, Rodgers into the rotation next year and possibly move one or two of them to the pen, hope that Ax figures out how to pitch ahead again and you really don't have a whole lot of holes to fill next year. We would need to answer the SS issue, possibly find something at CF but everywhere else we will be set for better or worse. Braun obviously stays in LF, Aoki is cheap and will likely stay in RF, Hart stays at 1b, can't do much with Weeks but hope he figures it out at 2B, Ramirez likely ins't going anywhere so he'll be at 3B, and we are set at C. Probably need to add a few arms to the pen but I can't really say that a rotation of Yo, ZG and three of the six mentioned above would be much worse than what we have going now if not better. Like everyone has said recently our bullpen produces at league average and we are right in the race again next year.
  20. This seems awful strange, if it were a trade wouldn't the team trading for him want him to make his next start with them? If so what kind of benefit would the Brewers or the other team be getting by the Brewers announcing that he is skipping his next start? Why not just wait till the trade is announced? If he isn't starting vs Cincy either you have to think something is wrong with him. Not good any way I can see it. Our pitching match ups for the Cards series sure looks a lot worse now that Greinke isn't in there.
  21. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks. Regardless of if we buy/sell/don't do anything, we have a possibly shake up at SS, we have our starting catcher coming back off the DL, and we have Marcum coming back. Hopefully Bianchi gets a shot, Maldy is the backup catcher and Wolf gets sent to the pen. I doubt it but one can dream.
  22. Good move, glad to see the Brewers are shaking things up a bit, Thorny gets some more MLB innings and possibly put into the rotation if/when we trade Greinke/Marcum.
  23. Even if we are able to move Greinke for a SS (Segura, Machado or any of the other guys mentioned) what the heck do we do to start the year next year there? Resign Gonzales? At the very best we could see one of these guys called up mid season, I don't think out of the guys we can realistically get will be our opening day SS next year.
  24. Just checked over the last month of games and it looks like this: 1st: 11, 2nd: 6, 3rd: 16, 4th: 10, 5th: 4, 6th: 17, 7th: 20, 8th: 20, 9th: 18 and in 7 extra innings games we've given up 5 runs in extras
