  1. The Brewer back ups (the ones who got starts today), Dillon, Kapler, Rivera & Counsell go 7 for 15 with 5 RBI's... Amazing!
  2. Eric Byrnes is now out with a torn (strained) hamstring in EACH leg... Jeff Salazar & Chris Burke are due to platoon in LF for the D-Backs... Hmmm, Corey Hart for some pitching??? Maybe Scherzer & Pena? We could even trow in Gwynn so they have a decent 4th OF!
  3. Brad Nelson can fill a role much like Branyon, with a few less HR's but also alot fewer K's... His plate discipline has been amazing this year!
  4. Gameday has Dillard throwing 92-95 mph... Is that really accurate? I always thought he was more of a soft tosser/ sinker baller?
  5. Personally I am starting to really pay attention to what Brad Nelson is doing this year! He had a bounce back year of sorts last year and a really solid start to this year! He had 3 more walks tonight and now has 29 on the year (compared to 25 k's)... OPS over 950! Nice!!!
  6. How about Scherzer, Pena, and Tracy for Fielder?
  7. How about... To Arizona: Prince Fielder (Much needed left handed power bat) Cole Gillespie (Future LF replacement for Brynes who is in year 1 of 3 year deal) Hernan Iribarren (2B prospect to replace Hudson who is FA after this year) To Milwaukee: Max Scherzer (Top pitching prospect! MLB ready! D-Backs are 7 starters deep) Conor Jackson (To replace Fielder at 1B) Chad Tracy (3B potential and left handed bat! Currently rehabbing in Triple A) Just a thought... What do you guys think?
  8. It may be time to take notice of what Luis Pena in now doing at Nashville! After a rough start he has had a great run in his last 10 outings.. 10 IP, 9 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 10 K's and most importantly 6 saves! Nice!!!
  9. Once the ACL is torn then no more damage can be done to the ACL, however, without the stability the ACL provides in the knee you can risk damage to the MCL and the PCL by continuing to play on it. My daughter recently tore her ACL playing in her High School basketball game. She had just an ACL tear. We will have to wait for more information as to whether there is any other damage in the knee to see if the extra inning Yo pitched caused any furthre damage. The more ligaments that are torn then obviously the longer the rehad. Let us hope for a Brady Poppinga type recovery not a Daunte Culpepper type recovery that lingers. Brady just tore his ACL where as Daunte needed total reconstruction of his knee!
  10. Just posted on the JS online blog... http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/archive/2008/05/02/gallardo-has-torn-acl.aspx Edit: Added info to title. - Toby
  11. The offcial time of gates opening is 11:30am for 1pm (local AZ time), however sometimes they do indeed open a bit earler depending on the crowd waiting outside! This is because of the number of walk up sales as the ticket office is right next to the main gate and it can get crowded!
  12. Somewhat conflicting reports from the JS online today... This is what Tom H. listed in his Camp Report (Dated 3/10)... Injury report: Right-hander Yovani Gallardo continues to make slow progress in his recovery from arthroscopic knee surgery. Gallardo is not close to pitching in games, however, and almost certainly will begin the season on the disabled list. :-( Then this is what he listed in his most current blog... Phoenix - Young right-hander Yovani Gallardo will take a big step foward in his comeback from knee surgery Wednesday morning when he pitches some live batting practice to hitters in the minor-league camp. Gallardo has been throwing lightly off the mound since having torn cartilage removed from his knee at the start of camp. Facing hitters is the next step in the progression of getting him back in the starting rotation, which probably will happen in mid-April. "He's right on schedule," said manager Ned Yost. :-) Either way the latter is great news!!!
  13. Does the kid not speak much English because he is young or was he just shy? I know Yo was born in Mexico, but he went to HS in Ft. Worth. Not being a downer, just curious. He definately wasn't shy! At one point when while they took a break from playing, me and my son were off to get some food and the little boy wanted to go with! His mom said that he did not speak much english, only spanish! You should get him a Gallardo jersey for his birthday That is definately in the plans!
  14. Yes, I was very proud! As much as it was a great moment for me, the memories of the boys interacting will be much more so! I did stop at Target on the way home to "reward" him for the nice gesture! He got a new matchbox car!
  15. I was just relaxing at the game yesterday (Sunday) with my 3 year old son. We went to the game played at Maryvale and sat in the Right Field lawn seats. My son brought a small collection of his matchbox cars and a small fold up matchbox playset. It wasn't long before another little boy, about the same age, came over and asked if they could play together. The boy did not speak too much english but they had a great time playing anyways. The boy's mother sat off in the shade but came over to make sure it was ok for them to play together. Midway thru the 3rd inning, the boy's father showed up and called out for him. The boy got up and ran over and was telling his father how much fun he was having playing cars! The little boy brought his father over to say hi... As I looked up, it sure as heck was Yovani Gallardo! Maybe I should have expected as much as the little boy had a custom fit, #49, Gallardo Brewers jersey on... Yo was in street clothes and it amazed me that no one recognized him but me! He introduced himself to me and my boy! He thanked us for allowing his son to play! My son reached up and gave his boy the matchbox car that he had taken a liking to! The moment was so great that I didn't want to ruin it by asking for a picture or autograph. I told him I was a big fan and hoped that he got back soon! He said the rehab was going great and he was expecting to get back on the field soon! We shook hands and they were off! What a great moment for me and especially my son! Spring Training is AWESOME!!!!
  16. Just be sure not to rent anything in the Maryvale (Phoenix) area near the Brewers complex since it is in a high crime part of town! I would suggest staying in Peoria (Northwest) or in the Tempe (Southeast) areas... It will be a commute each day but their is alot more to do and it is alot safer!
  17. My wife, son, and I will be there on Monday!!! I will be in section 118 up behind the brewers dugout.
  18. At least it looks as though Bill Hall will get plenty of chances to shag balls in CF with the AZ Brewers pitching staff!!!http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. Quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I don't know how the fans are going to be come Wednesday, we'll find out, but I think I did pretty good when I was here," he told Arizona's Web site. "I didn't leave as a free agent or anything. I didn't do a Carlos Lee or anything, let's put it that way." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I found that bit about Carlos Lee interesting. It's almost like there's some bitterness there. Maybe I'm just reading too much into it, I don't know. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Earlier this year DD did plunk Carlos Lee with a pitch... It seemed like some sort of message at the time!
  20. What a night so far Justin Morneau!!!! 6 for 10 with 3 HR's and 9 RBI's in the doubleheader VS CHW
  21. Jeffress with a nice bounce back start tonight... Rough start for Manny...
  22. Plus the Thursday game (when Sheets pitches) is a day game!!! If memory serves me, Sheets has been real dominating in his day starts!!!
  23. Amazing how having Sheets in there now makes that series a little more winnable!!!
  24. With Vargas pitching tonight I will assume we see... Suppan vs Verlander Capuano vs Maroth Sheets vs Durbin ...in the Detroit series? Everyone will be on normal 4 days rest except Suppan who will still get 5 days...
  25. Dave Krynzel now 0-5 with 4 k's (struck out swinging with the bases loaded in the top of the 10th)... Nashville battled back to tie it in the 8th at 5-5.... Still in extras after a short rain delay...
