  1. Adrian Houser: Batter (Twins) vs Pitching Stats Michael Pineda: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Twins-Brewers Statcast Game Feed for Twins-Brewers
  2. I think tomorrow will be a different story. The current Brewers hitters have a lifetime .332 BA / .366 OBP / .520 SLG (.887 OPS) against Michael Pineda over 80 combined plate appearances. Coming into tonight they had been very bad against Berrios, and that rang true once again.
  3. Barrios was really good tonight. He’s been on the brink of developing into an ace pitcher for awhile. He’s also shutdown the Brewers in the past, as well as the new additions such as Jackie Bradley Jr. who came into the game 1-for-12 against Berrios.
  4. That’s what I’m assuming (~100 pitches max), but I’m also glad I’m not in CC’s shoes if the game continues on like this.
  5. For the first time in his career Travis Shaw is starting a major league game as the #2 hitter in the order.
  6. Article on next offseason’s shortstop class from MLB.com’s Mike Petriello, How Lindor's deal shakes up '21 SS class He makes predictions on each player including the following: Story: Gets traded to the Brewers in July because the Brewers will want an upgrade at the Deadline and the Rockies will be sellers ... then signs with Rangers in the offseason.
  7. Corbin Burnes: Batter (Twins) vs Pitching Stats Jose Berrios: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Twins-Brewers Statcast Game Feed for Twins-Brewers
  8. The Rosenthal report at the time was the Orioles wanted Corbin Burnes and the Brewers were offering Brett Phillips and Luis Ortiz. While that sounds like an incredibly large gulf now, at the time Phillips and Ortiz were the Brewers 4th and 5th ranked prospects according to MLB.com.
  9. The aforementioned Mike Brosseau hasn’t had an at bat yet through the Rays first two games.
  10. Regarding the sausage race, it’s my understanding they require anyone with access to the field level to be part of the daily tier one or tier two testing protocols. So in that context it makes sense you’d go without any entertainment acts on the field for the time being.
  11. I agree. This thread will be much more appropriate about June 1. A lot needs to play out between now and then. The thing I disagree with a bit here is that unless Story falls off a cliff or gets injured it’s almost a certainty he’d improve the Brewers lineup significantly. If any two of the following four players are hitting at or below their expectations than Story makes all the sense in the world from the Brewers end (but NOT taking into account the likely high cost of acquiring him): Urias, Shaw, Arcia, Hiura My point is it doesn’t have to necessarily be viewed as an upgrade over a current shortstop option. There are scenarios where you can move other guys to 3B (Urias, Arcia) and/or 1B (Shaw) to accommodate the addition of Story’s bat in the lineup.
  12. I listened to an interview with a Rockies beat reporter (Nick Groke), and he talked about how the Rockies don’t act in-line with what’s generally considered rational by the consensus. He said after taking an absolute beating over the Arenado trade (in which case Nolan was requesting to be traded), he doesn’t think the owner, Dick Monfort (who he said fancies himself a GM), would be willing to trade Story even if it’s the obviously smart thing to do for the franchise. He was of the opinion it would need to be an extreme overpay in order for the Rockies not to just ride with Story right until the bitter end. Groke also said the Rockies don’t typically make many trades. The Brewers and Rockies haven’t made a trade together since 2004.
  13. I assume they’ll also move the Future’s Game to the new ASG host city, but I’m curious if the MLB Draft (which was supposed to be in Atlanta during the All-Star break) will move to the new host city or just default back to the old venue near the league offices.
  14. My way too early prediction is that the rental bidding for Trevor Story comes down to the Brewers, Yankees, and Reds with the Braves as a dark horse. It’s not unprecedented for the Brewers to be in the mix for a high profile rental, they did so with Machado in 2018. I think ultimately the Rockies will end up keeping Story and just taking the 2022 comp pick (approx #30 overall) when Story inevitably signs elsewhere next offseason.
  15. The FanGraphs change in NL Central playoff odds after just one game seems a bit extreme, but who am I to complain.
  16. The predictions from OOTP 2022 (simulated 1,000 times using updated Opening Day rosters) have the Brewers winning the division, and apparently by a wide margin. They said the last playoff team and top non-playoff team in the NL were separated by 6 games. They didn’t specify, however, if maybe this is a case where both wild card teams had a better record than one of the division winners.
  17. I believe it’s the first time over .500 since 2019. That’s correct, first time as an above .500 ball club since the end of the 2019 regular season.
  18. In others news, Eugenio Suarez already has two errors (one fielding, one throwing) through the first couple of innings of the experiment where the Reds play him as a shortstop now.
  19. I’ll predict a 13-13 April. I have a feeling the Brewers sort of tread water for the first two months of the season and then play well enough over the final 4 months to finish around 10-12 games over .500 on the season. So glad a full 162-game season is finally here!
  20. Mets owner Steve Cohen reportedly lost a billion dollars bailing out his friends in the Game Stop saga, and has nearly twice the wealth of the next closest MLB team ownership (his net worth is allegedly between $14-$15 billion). I don’t imagine he’s overly worried about how the contract ages.
