  1. There have been plenty of strange moves already. Always a chance that Cinci deals for Minor before the deadline.. Good point! I hope the Reds get Minor and the Mets somehow acquire Robbie Ray while keeping Thor. That’s my new hope for putting a bow on this trade deadline!
  2. If the Reds were so intent on getting a starting pitcher under control for next season I think Mike Minor would have been a more cost effective, and better overall, target for them. Also, coincidentally Derek Johnson was Minor’s coach at Vanderbilt so they would have had that whole Sonny Gray, part II narrative going for them as well.
  3. [sarcasm]Even in a tie game just put Hader in for a couple of innings. There are probably several high end reliever reinforcements on the way tomorrow anyway.[/sarcasm]
  4. Just when I was about to go to bed Eric Thames ensures I will be completely worthless tomorrow.
  5. In terms of “selling” on a smaller scale, if the Brewers have no plans to add David Freitas to the major league squad this year I wonder if they could get a roll of the dice type prospect or two in exchange for him from a team such as the Athletics. Maybe they value him too much as an insurance policy?
  6. Big hit for Grandal in a huge spot! Come on Moose... and then hopefully Keston!!
  7. Nice hit by Yelich to extend the hit streak to 17, but I wish either Gamel or Cain could have moved Arcia off first base.
  8. I wouldn’t normally consider Joe Girardi to be quote worthy, but in this case why not. From Dan Federico... I guess I’ll put the idea of the Reds flipping Bauer a day later in the “believe it when I see it” category.
  9. I know Claudio gets the headlines due to number of appearances, but Junior Guerra has now pitched 55.2 innings of relief on the season which is 11 more IP than Claudio. The Brewers really need to add some relievers tomorrow.
  10. I love Hiura, but admittedly I still get a little nervous when the ball gets hit to him.
  11. The only two teams Chris Bassitt has held scoreless past 5 IP this year are the White Sox and Tigers.
  12. Could be that, [sarcasm]or maybe AJ Preller is just addicted to collecting premium prospects and once players lose such status it bores him.[/sarcasm]
  13. Franmil Reyes strikes me as a three years younger version of Domingo Santana. Granted, I have only watched him play a handful of times so maybe he’s better than that? I assume he might be a future DH in Cleveland. Overall, I think the Reds got the shortest end of this trade.
  14. Taylor Trammell ranked between 10 to 30 on most top 100 prospect lists heading into the season. Unless they have more coming their way, it’s interesting that the Reds were willing to give him (and Puig) up for what will likely amount to one competitive season with Trevor Bauer.
  15. [sarcasm]I’m glad Trevor Bauer is headed to the Reds, they need some more level headed players in their clubhouse.[/sarcasm]
  16. From C Trent Rosecrans... So I guess that’s the anti-#HugWatch? Edit: Just watched the brawl aftermath. Puig was ejected before he could be pulled from the game. They are speculating that he will receive a suspension which will carry over to his new team (presumably the Indians).
  17. So apparently the Padres might actually now be on the market for MLB ready outfield prospects?
  18. I would bet on Kolby Allard developing into a better player than either of the two pitchers the Blue Jays received in the Stroman trade. Even though he has struggled this year I think it’s a good enough get for a rental reliever.
  19. Well Mike Leake might be on the move before his start tonight.
  20. The beauty of it is we can just quote which one(s) end up correct and you’ll live on as a BF.net legend. I think you’ve got this whole prediction thing figured out.
