Sometimes guys do that to prevent them from extending their fingers in a head first slide and risking broken fingers or other injuries Huh, I have played and watched a lot of baseball in my life, but never knew that was a thing. I’ve obviously seen plenty of guys take off and hold their batting gloves, but it seemed strange for a pinch runner to have them in his hands... but apparently that’s a thing with an actual reason for it. Thanks!

Ever since the David Bote walk-off grand slam against the Nationals with two outs in the bottom of the 9th I have been waiting for the Universe to course correct. Hopefully that happens tonight.
