  1. Today is the sort of matchup you hope acquiring Escobar pays off. He has a .537 slugging and .887 OPS against LHP this season (in 159 plate appearances).
  2. I agree that Taylor would be a better option than Yelich today, but I’d still be absolutely shocked to see Yelich not in the starting lineup. This is another game where it feels like the Brewers best chance for a big inning is going to come in the 6th inning or later.

  4. Was able to go to yesterday’s game, and I have to say Rowdy’s home run was one of the most aesthetically pleasing I’ve seen in person. There was no doubt the split second his bat met the ball, just a perfect laser off the bat. Such a great memorable moment to start this series. Between that and his run saving defensive play in the 1st inning, I agree with the poster that coined it “the Rowdy Tellez game.”
  5. Both lineups now posted on the first page (second post). I like having Urias available as a pinch hitter later in the game today, especially with Atlanta’s LH relievers.
  6. Corbin Burnes: Batter (Braves) vs Pitching Stats Charlie Morton: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Braves-Brewers NLDS Game #1 Statcast Game Feed for Braves-Brewers NLDS Game #1
  7. Yeah, in 2014 they lost the AL Wild Card game to the Royals and then proceeded to trade some of their best players that off-season including trading away each of Josh Donaldson, Brandon Moss, and Jeff Samardzija by early December.
  8. Down to 8 teams remaining. Use this thread to discuss the ALDS and NLDS games. Just like during the regular season, we will have a separate thread for each game involving the Brewers. DIVISION SERIES Best-of-five Thursday, Oct. 7 • White Sox v. Astros, Game 1 (FS1, 3 p.m. CT) • Red Sox v. Rays, Game 1 (FS1, 7 p.m. CT) Friday, Oct. 8 • White Sox v. 9. I admittedly know nothing about hand surgery procedures, but the part of this I’ve never totally understood regarding the hope for him to return is that he just had a metal plate inserted into his pitching hand. The idea someone could go from having a plate put into their hand to pitching at a high level 3-4 weeks later seems incredible.
  10. Sometimes I forget how good the 2015 Pirates team was that won 98 games and hosted the wild card game against the Cubs with Gerrit Cole on the mound. Similar to tonight, Cole gave up 3 runs in the first 3 innings of that game. That was the third straight year the Pirates hosted the NL wild card game.
  11. Between the two I’d prefer to see the Red Sox move on, but I’m in the boat that doesn’t care much for either.
  12. Wow, I had missed that. Dave is so good, I hope he either comes back to the public side or joins the Brewers front office. Found this article, Padres reportedly losing senior analyst Dave Cameron which included this paragraph: A.J. Preller did utilize the services of Cameron as the senior analyst was vital in the Padres trading for both Trent Grisham and Jake Cronenworth. The Padres are getting tremendous value from this duo, and Cameron was essential in recognizing their abilities. Losing him from the department is concerning. Not just for his eye for talent, but the fact he was a well-known name who brought clout to the Padres’ analytical department.
  13. We will have a thread dedicated to discussion surrounding each round of the Postseason (i.e. Wild Cards, Division Series, Championship Series, and World Series). This is the thread to discuss the AL and NL Wild Card Games. WILD CARD GAMES Tuesday, Oct. 5 • Yankees v. Red Sox (ESPN, 7 p.m. air time, 7:08 p.m. CT first pitch) Wednesday, Oct. 6 • Cardinals v. Dodgers (TBS, 7 p.m. air time, 7:10 p.m. CT first pitch)
  14. Starting the thread for 2022 MLB Draft discussion. The order has been set for the 2022 MLB Draft (assuming they don’t alter the way the draft order is determined in the new CBA this offseason). NL Central teams listed in BOLD. 1. Orioles (52-110) 2. D-backs (52-110) 3. Rangers (60-102) 4. Pirates (61-101) 5. Nationals (65-97) 6. Marlins (67-95) 7. Cubs (71-91) 8. Twins (73-89) 9. Royals (74-88) 10. Rockies (74-87) 11. Mets (compensation)* 12. Tigers (77-85) 13. Angels (77-85) 14. Mets (77-85) 15. Padres (79-83) 16. Indians (80-82) 17. Phillies (82-80) 18. Reds (83-79) 19. A’s (86-76) 20. Braves (88-73) 21. Mariners (90-72) 22. Cardinals (90-72) 23. Blue Jays (91-71) 24. Red Sox (92-70) 25. Yankees (92-70) 26. White Sox (93-69) 27. Brewers (95-67) 28. Astros (95-67) 29. Rays (100-62) 30. Dodgers (106-56) 31. Giants (107-55) *--compensation for not signing 2021 Draft pick Kumar Rocker
  15. A bit concerned for the Braves, amirite.
  16. Per Jeff Passan… Dodgers manager Dave Roberts says first baseman Max Muncy is “very unlikely” to play in the NL wild card game and, if they advance, “unlikely” for the division series as well. While the Dodger won the game, losing a .900 OPS bat on the last day of the regular season is certainly a blow.
  17. Well, one more reason to root against the Astros in the Postseason, I guess. That is the one slightly disappointing aspect of losing these games, but I would assume that’s the furthest thing from the team’s minds at this moment.
  18. After they clinched I couldn’t have cared any less if they lost every game. The only thing that mattered to me was them remaining healthy, and unfortunately that would’ve come true sans a total lack in good judgment from Devin Williams. And sure enough the only thing I’m now worried about altering their Postseason fate is their weakness in the middle-to-late relief innings.
  19. Agree with this. They won their division and earned the right to give guys a decreased work load before the playoffs. If it doesn’t work then there will be plenty of opportunity to second guess, but for now it’s the way they believed gave them the best chance for success in the Postseason.
  20. The biggest thing with Ashby is he’s susceptible to inconsistency. Unfortunately that’s pretty common with young pitchers. When he’s on his stuff looks dynamite. When he can’t command his stuff [or get the break he’s looking for] he looks almost unpitchable. Hopefully the former shows up in the postseason.
  21. Well, that’s a depressing appearance for Ashby who had looked pretty good lately.
