  1. Thanks! Do you know how many at-bats by chance?
  2. I actually worry a little bit about Ray being strikeout prone. I am the first to admit small sample size, but in Cape Cod in 2014 with a wood bat he struck out 34 times in 92 at-bats while walking just 6 times.
  3. I really like Alex Kirilloff, I think he ends up being one of the better first round hitters in this draft.
  4. Does anyone have a link to Corey Ray's stats with Team USA? I know he didn't hit well in the Cape back in 2014, but that was a pretty limited sample size and two years ago. I know he was much better last summer with USA baseball.
  5. Wondering if Groome and Rutherford end up dropping to overslot selections.
  6. What a difference a year makes, I am jealous of the Miami Marlins first round pick.
  7. I believe Corey Ray ends up becoming a major league regular, I just don't see much of a possibility he becomes an elite offensive or defensive player.
  8. The Rockies feel like a death sentence for a high school pitcher.
  9. The Braves are about to do some serious damage with the $$$ saving in their next selections and they picked up a very good pitcher.
  10. JJ Cooper changed from Puk to now saying Blake Rutherford.
  11. JJ Cooper from Baseball America, but now he's tweeting that it's not confirmed. Well if the Brewers draft Puk you couldn't accuse them of going for a "safe" college player.
  12. Just a reminder we will continue the draft pick discussion for Rounds 1-5 in this THREAD
  13. Not only do I completely agree, I have heard people say that he isn't nearly the prospect Brady Aiken was as a HS LHP. For me Groome is a better overall package than Aiken was when he went 1.1.
  14. Mainly for the sake of being able to go back some day and see how wrong I was, here is my final non-expert rankings of how I would order my draft board (financials notwithstanding). 1) Jason Groome (can't get past the talent, he has been my favorite player in this draft from start (last summer) to finish. 2) Riley Pint 3) Mickey Moniak 4) Braxton Garrett 5) Blake Rutherford 6) Alex Kirilloff 7) Ian Anderson 8) Zack Collins 9) Corey Ray 10) Delvin Perez (the failed performance enhancer drug test is tough to overlook) I am heavy on the high school crop, especially pitchers. A.J. Puk and Kyle Lewis may end up being stars, but I just don't trust either of them. I may regret not ranking Nick Senzel, seems like he is a safe bet to be a major leaguer. I could see the possibility of a successful Kevin Seitzer type career.
  15. Madison.com ARTICLE LINK which includes quotes from a board contributer, Perfect Game's Patrick Ebert discussing several options at the Brewers first selection including Riley Pint, Corey Ray, Blake Rutherford, Josh Lowe, and Zack Collins.
  16. ARTICLE LINK: The Brewers were one of two teams (the Dodgers being the other) to bring Henninger High School (Syracuse, NY) 6'5" LHP Jeff Belge in for a pre-draft workout. Belge is listed as a top 100 prospect by both Baseball America and MLB Pipeline. Also as highlighted in the article he has overcome a couple of serious eye injuries.
  17. Happy Draft Day!!!! Such anticipation with knowing by the end of today the Brewers will have added three quality players to the organization.
  18. I think the White Sox have their sights set on native son Corey Ray with the #10 pick, but since the rival Tigers beat them to it in this scenario I will go with Zack Collins as the selection.
  19. We were made aware earlier in this thread, but here is a brief ARTICLE LINK (as well as a video interview) of McEachern High School (Georgia) pitcher Alex Speas. The article portion lists Speas' pre-draft workout locations including Milwaukee.
  20. ARTICLE LINK: Soddy-Daisy High School (Tennessee) outfielder Tre Carter has worked out for the Brewers as well as a handful of other teams.
  21. Final: Fort Myers 1, Brevard County 0 Double plays doom Manatees in loss to Fort Myers By Donald Rieber, Jr., Manatees Examiner http://cdn2-b.examiner.com/sites/default/files/styles/image_content_width/hash/a3/29/a329f85dd0b158c3d9a3f7ea2fd1642c.JPG?itok=zn_no3E8 Cody Ponce (Brevard County Manatees - Tim Holle) LINK: PHOTO GALLERY (5 game photos available) *** Brevard County Box Score As we have come to expect and appreciate, another quality game story provided including manager quotes. Also some excellent photos including an impressive catch by Malik Collymore. There isn't much to add that isn't covered in the game story, but to reiterate the story of the night, Cody Ponce went 2.0 IP allowing just one hit, no walks, and striking out four. He was reportedly working in the 90-93 mph range. Overall just 30 pitches thrown for Ponce, 21 of which found the strike zone. The Manatees bats combined for 10 hits including three doubles. Seven of the Brevard County hits game against last year's Twins first round draft pick, LHP Tyler Jay. Brevard County Game Log Here are Cody Ponce's two innings pitched... Fort Myers Top of the 1st Tanner Witt lines out to left fielder Malik Collymore. Nick Gordon strikes out swinging. T. J. White singles on a line drive to center fielder Johnny Davis. Joe Maloney strikes out swinging. Fort Myers Top of the 2nd Edgar Corcino called out on strikes. Chris Paul lines out to right fielder Clint Coulter. Alex Real called out on strikes.
  22. ARTICLE LINK: Northwestern State junior righthander Adam Oller mentions the Brewers as a team that he has had contact with (along with four other teams).
  23. ARTICLE LINK: Confirmation that Buford High School (Florida) outfielder Brandon Marsh attended the Brewers pre-draft workout. Marsh is the second prospect highlighted in the article which includes some brief video highlights. He is MLB Pipeline's #48 ranked prospect.
  24. Here is a second ARTICLE LINK on Walker Robbins. This time we learn that in addition to the Brewers and Padres the MLB Pipeline's #93 ranked prospect has also received interest from the Cardinals and traveled to Houston for a workout with the Astros.
