  2. It was more than a decade before I was born, but paying homage to Tommy Harper who put up 7.4 WAR in the Brewers inaugural season in Milwaukee.
  3. I think at this point it’s probably safe to assume everyone is well aware of the Wilmer Flores trade/non-trade.
  4. Yeah, the Brewers recent trend of acquiring players that have previously flashed some talent and are in the age 26-27 range is one I’m a big fan of continuing.
  5. What’d I miss? I was wondering the same thing. I’ve been out of the loop today, hopefully no setbacks for Taylor reported?
  6. Should’ve challenged that one. Belt’s foot definitely lost contact with the base prior to catching the ball.
  7. Yelich heating up over the past three weeks is a very exciting development for this team’s hope for playoff success.

  9. It’s now to the point where if the Brewers don’t win the division it will have a lot more to do with the Brewers than the Reds. For instance even if the Brewers just completely tread water and finish 16-15 (assuming they pull out today’s game), then the Reds would have to go 25-5 to win the division outright, and 24-6 to force a game 163. It’s going to take a Milwaukee collapse to give the Reds any life at this point.
  10. Marlins coming up in the bottom of the 8th, the Reds are now down to their final at bat. I’m hoping the magic number makes just a brief pit stop on 24 today.
  11. Next year is a near lock to be the 12th consecutive season the Brewers have had a different opening day first baseman. At this point taking a chance on someone like Rowdy possibly being a multi-year solution at the position seems worth a try (especially with the lack of current internal options in the farm system).
  12. Since August 11th Yelich is now 22-for-61 (.361 BA) with 6 doubles, 2 home runs, and 6 walks. If he keeps trending in the right direction over the coming weeks I’ll feel really good about this lineup come playoff time.
  13. A strikeout against Astudillo is a solid accomplishment for Ashby. Willians had just 11 in 182 plate appearances this season coming into today. Astudillo also somehow has just two walks this season.

  15. It would’ve been nice to give Wong a chance in that situation. Tough night for Houser.

  17. It would certainly suck to get swept, but I guess I’d be curious what sort of immediate ramifications could possibly make tomorrow a must win.
  18. The Sano hit looked like a double play ground ball off the bat and somehow ended up being a 2-RBI double.
