  1. Here comes Hader to face the bottom of the order with the best case scenario being pushing the game into extra innings when both teams will get extra runners and strikeouts matter a ton.
  2. This is the worst stretch of umpiring going against the Brewers I can remember. Definitely altered the complexion of how tonight’s game is playing out. Frustrating, to say the least.
  3. That was a bad missed [should’ve been] strike three call against Suarez, but Narvaez stabbed his glove outside of the zone so I guess you cut the umpire some slack on that missed call.
  4. The furthest an IL stint can be backdated is 3 days. So he could be eligible to return in one week in the best case scenario.
  5. Devin Williams is down with elbow soreness/discomfort. That’s sounds ominous.
  6. The Brewers have listed Eric Lauer and Brett Anderson as their starters versus the Royals on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
  7. Jace back at first base tonight. I can’t imagine they’ll continue to carry both Hiura and Tellez on the major league roster if Jace is anticipated to be the primary starting option at 1B for the foreseeable future.
  8. So the Brewers still need to add someone offense, but at this point the elite options such as Trevor Story or Joey Gallo don’t seem overly likely. We also know the Brewers prefer to add players with options and years of control when possible. So what about… Luis’ brother, Ramón Urías? - He is having a bit of a breakout, and just turned 27 years old - He’s under control through 2026 - He has an option remaining - He can play anywhere across the dirt, and is strong defensively In his limited MLB experience (just 48 games) he has a 125 wRC+. During that time he has reverse splits with a .886 OPS against RHP. Even assuming some downward regression offensively, his rest of season ZiPS projection is a 111 wRC+. I know it’s not as flashy as some other options and he doesn’t carry the power profile we’d like the team to add right now, but it seems like he could provide a solid bat at several positions. He would also get plenty of playing time as guys get rest days, and could be an insurance policy if there are any more injuries on the infield this season. Admittedly it’s not a perfect fit, but I also think it aligns with the Brewers MO of coming up with unorthodox solutions.
  9. From Adam McCalvy last night… Brewers runs per game during Adrian Houser's last nine starts: 6 7 5 5 6 10 7 5 11
  10. Brandon Woodruff: Batter (Reds) vs Pitching Stats Luis Castillo: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Reds-Brewers Statcast Game Feed for Reds-Brewers
  11. So the Brewers drafted at least two of Counsell’s sons friends this year (Binelas & Riggio).
  12. Imagine the thoughts that would’ve gone through your head if someone told you before the season that Jace Peterson would be the starting 1B coming out of the All Star break. I hope he stays hot!
  13. I wasn’t overly jazzed about the Frelick selection for a handful of reasons (I thought McLain was the best college hitter available at #15), but I did watch his high school football highlights and one thing is certain… he’s an incredible athlete. I saw he mentioned this past year was the first time in his career he’d played baseball during the fall. Given his athleticism and speed I do think it’s possible he could be end up being a solid top of the order “spark plug” type player.
  14. The current Reds batters have had a lot of recent success against Adrian Houser (.914 OPS in 120 plate appearances), hopefully that comes to a bit of a halt tonight.
  15. Adrian Houser: Batter (Reds) vs Pitching Stats Tyler Mahle: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Reds-Brewers Statcast Game Feed for Reds-Brewers
  16. Today is Houser according to McCalvy.
  17. Yes, I’m surprised they still haven’t set the rotation. I assume it’ll be Woodruff on Saturday, but beyond that it’s anybody’s guess.
