  1. Arenado has opt outs in his contract after both 2021 and 2022. He’s set to make $35 million per year if he doesn’t opt out, so if he had any indication he was going to need a “prove it” deal he would just take the Cardinals money for another year.
  2. Agreed, he really gave himself up to not hurt Josh there. What a crazy play. I wonder why they didn't use Bryant there. Bryant is dealing with a seemingly minor injury… Not just a rest day for Bryant. His side is sore after diving in the outfield in LA and then again a few times last night. Getting treatment and they'll see where he is after that.
  3. Assume Lobaton separated his shoulder on that last play trying to avoid Hader. That sucks, feel legitimately bad for him. Well it certainly wasn’t a pretty night overall, but one of those games to take your W and move on.
  4. Well the margin for error just shrunk significantly. Come on Josh.
  5. That blown strike call might be the new worst I’ve seen this season.
  6. Well this is going downhill. In hindsight I wish they could’ve given Cousins a clean inning to start.
  7. That blown checked swing call on Contreras now potentially looms large.
  8. Suter with a couple of goofy looking throws to first base, but they were effective at least.
  9. Brent Suter hasn’t allowed a run over his last 5 outings, hopefully he can keep that streak going tonight.
  10. German Marquez is no hitting the Pirates at Coors Field through 7 innings now. Remarkably he’s thrown just 69 pitches so far.
  11. I know they can’t exactly count on it being the case, but when we’re looking at next year I think there is a very high probability the universal DH is in place by 2022.
  12. Woodruff getting both the top and the bottom of the zone squeezed on him in that Heyward at bat.
  13. I believe part of the reason for the timing is tomorrow’s likely bullpen game approach.
  14. Aaron’s uncle Andy Ashby made his MLB debut 30 years ago (June 10, 1991) also at age 23, and accumulated 21.5 bWAR over 14 major league seasons. Ashby was a two-time All Star selection. Here’s hoping Aaron has a similarly long lasting and productive major league career.
  15. Will Sammon also confirming: Have heard same. Ashby last pitched for Nashville on June 26. Been throwing 1-2 innings since June 9. With tomorrow being a bullpen game, makes sense to work him in somewhere.
  16. It’s confirmed per Jeff Passan: Milwaukee is calling up left-hander Aaron Ashby, sources tell ESPN. Very impressive in spring training and has struck out 56 in 38 IP at AAA. Has also issued 24 walks. Expected to work out of the bullpen. Along with Ethan Small, he’s part of Brewers’ next generation of pitchers.
  17. Brandon Woodruff: Batter (Cubs) vs Pitching Stats Zach Davies: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Cubs-Brewers Statcast Game Feed for Cubs-Brewers
  18. This Adames quote was pretty great as well… Willy Adames, who played in the World Series last season, had this to say about tonight's 14-4 win over the Cubs: "It felt amazing. That was probably one of the best wins I’ve ever been a part of. And this is just the regular season. That felt like the playoffs."
  19. Eric Sogard getting checked for sticky stuff to cap a 10-run Brewers 8th inning is the stuff dreams are made of.
  20. Brewers now have the best run differential in the NL Central at +21. Cubs now down to +7. Every one else on the negative side.
  21. You would think. Who are most of these guys? I think the regression has begun, at least for a night.
