  1. Since I KNOW guys are listening, can we have some running 'stuff' here. The boxscores are like 45-60 min behind. I am at work and can only browse now and again. Good luck to our up and coming youngsters. I hope Durrington has a big, big, big series. And I am hoping Krynzel and Cruz go big time too.
  2. well, it is 4:20 am, work calls in 3 hours, i'm hitting the hay...maybe our New Zealand friend will be just tuning in about now can I leave a 5 run lead in your guys hands now I am getting excited about cappy getting to 20 wins... 16 today I just wish THIS was the .500 game; I know it does not matter 81 or 83 wins... but darnit... maybe it DOES
  3. sweep, I dont thing those guys would get a top two rotation guy; maybe they could if we pick up salary or put in a couple more guys... an overbay and clark I hope Melvin can do something inventive. If we had one more top rotation guy... the sky is the limit for us.
  4. Dare I say. Have we seen JJ grow into one of the best shortstops in the game over the course of three months?
  5. It seems now Carlos or Jenkins could garner a number 1 or 2 starter for next year in a trade. I wish that were true. But I am sure it is not. Mind you, do the Mets have anyone on offer. How they gave up Kazmir for a number 4 starter is beyond me.
  6. pretty impressive for the bats not to take the night off after the 4 run 2nd. a four run lead is MUCH nicer than a three.
  7. russ, what does the graph prove... I stick to my espn splits team ranking Brewers 14th in NAT with RISP Brewers 9th in NAT overall (take away the RISP and you will have 7th, I guess for runners NOT isp)
  8. ahhh Scoop the famous conundrum k's dont matter to the batter but k's DO matter to the pitcher
  9. I have no idea how often the Brewers score in that situation but I bet it's around average. No way, Russ. You cannot rank 14th in the league in OPS with RISP and get those runners in an 'average' amount of the time. NO WAY.
  10. You know, I almost feel cheated... over two innings we have SEVEN hits and two walks to us, and we have only scored 5. But I will have to live with it.
  11. what is Milton's contract with his 6.63 era... ouch
  12. Let me continue the amazing RISP saga. With runners 'on' we rank 6th in the league overall. So if we have a runner on first only, we are an amazingly good team. Think of it. We rank 14th with RISP. But we rank 6th with runners on. Therefore, our talent simply ceases to operate once a guy gets to 2nd base. None on, we rank 9th. Therefore we are average with no one on. We are absolutely wonderful with a guy on first only. And we are nearly dead last once a base runner reaches 2nd base. And these are not small samples. They hundreds into the thousands of at bats.
  13. Seems we are 14th of the 16 teams in OPS with RISP. This 'small' sample is now up to 1,138 at bats. Overall we are 9th. I will guesstimate we are 7th or 8th in batting with R not ISP. That is, take our our 14th place performance of the 1,138 at bats in the total of 4,660 at bats. Actually, we could even be higher with R not ISP - maybe even 6th. So there you go. We simply consistently produce at the bottom of the ladder with RISP. Whereas, our overall talent shows us to be in the TOP HALF of the league. Based on STATS. Amazing.
  14. hi ho hi ho its runners in scoring position, I know its hard to see how we will score I know, I know, I know, I know we cannot bat when the ducks are there I know, I know you get the idea... let me just check the up to date RISP and not OPS batting position in the NAT I'll get back to you on that
  15. But who bets aganst the home team! A rich Brewers fan.
  16. Thank goodness for the loss. We almost got close to .500. We need to walk before we can crawl. This year the plan is to improve a couple games on last year. We can do that for the next five years and peak at a .499 winnin percentage. Which will satisfy us bs.net regulars. Then all our good players will go. We will not be able to afford them. They will have good stats so get good salaries, but never win any games. Then we will need to bottom out back at about .350 winning percentage, then climb that long mountain over 5 years back to .499. Then I will be dead and I will not care anymore.
  17. jw can I change your tag line from Character is what you are when no one's looking to Character is what your OPS is with RISP
  18. What happens if we do get over .500? It will be akin to Columbus finding the New World (was it lost?). or Neil on the moon. I will just open up some brave new world. Maybe it will be best to leave that door closed. Heck, if we get to .500, we may actually hope for .550 one year.
  19. It's called the .500 disease. Soon I am going back to my mental illness frezy. Well not MINE, but the Brewers. These guys are collective chokes. Why oh why can they bat UNTIL they get a chance to score a run. And when was the last home run we had. It seems in close games we stop hitting home runs... we just hit-hit to get two guys on base then choke-choke-choke. This mob is an amazing choke machine. By the way... you know how we are almost last in batting with RISP, but average (even above I think) without RISP... well, I checked a few times and actually our PITCHERS do better with RISP against them. Not much better, not from middle of the road to first... but a slot or two better. The pitchers dont choke. But the batters sure do. Choke, choke, choke...
  20. This game has the making of a new syndrome... called CREW RAGE. I can feel it building but I do not know the antedote. Re Helling, he is a YOUNG 34. I am starting to like him. Ha ha. I am so easy.
  21. 2nd and 3rd, nobody out, and we score ZERO. <> runner on 2nd nobody out.... ...now continue as ususal... I clearly disagree with all the guys that 1) SAY our RISP batting is not a mental problem, rather a lack of talent or 2) PROVE (try to with numbers) that our RISP batting is not unusual I will say until the cows come home... if you are league average or ABOVE with R not ISP, but you are bottem 3 WITH RISP... THAT IS A PROBLEM Let us not ignore it. Why would anyone want to ignore it. Let's fix it. How? I dont know!!! But that does not mean the problem does not exist!
  22. Hey, maybe it is the solution to the problem. Our lineup is so unbalanced, that only the guys at the top get on base... hence OPS is ok with no RISP. But then the crappy batters come up and cannot score them... therefore bad OPS with RISP. And we repeat this game after game. Could it be true. Is the solution to be more balanced? Are we that unbalanced. Sometimes I feel unbalanced.
  23. 2nd and 3rd, nobody out, and we score ZERO. 24. I just noticed we are only 2 games under .500 and soon we will have the lead here and close to tomorrow 'most important game of the year'. The .500 game. O M G !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
