  1. I say we spare no expense and go after the best bunting pitchers in the league next year. Or even have three or four pinch bunters on the bench.
  2. My point would be we seem to manage to do 3 or 4 more dumb things every game than the opposition. I mean just DUMB things - managing, baserunning, defense. I am not talking about lack of skill or striking out or even making an error. I am just talking the brain dead stuff. It is so hard to overcome that every game. We are a dumb team.
  3. I seem to remember a similar list last year, and amazingly, day by day we climbed toward the top (of the draft order). Let the climbing begin.
  4. I have seen enough of our patch job bullpens meltdown in the last half of every season. You cannot luck out with 5 cheapie cheap guys every year. We seem to find 2 or 3 (Wise and Turnbow this year), but we need 4 good good guys. Since we are knee deep in prospects (seems a balance between starters and positions players), why do we not find some college relief stud in the first round and TWO next year and fast track them. It seems to be OK to do that these days. I just do not want to be scratching around for a reliever in two years when we really need one.
  5. help, sportsline packed it in... refuses to update.... who's on first, i dont knows on third.
  6. That is funny. We give outs away on the paths and we also refuse to accept outs given to us by the other team. weeeee?
  7. Ned, you are doing the wrong thing if you leave a pitcher in with no control. Ned do the right thing.
  8. I think Ned did the right thing. Just let the players play. Leave it on their shoulders. No bunt = good. Just let them play.
  9. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
  10. It is good to find out who you can and CANNOT count on. One day the games will be actually important. And you need guys that will not melt. Remember, I continuously say this team has many mental struggles. There is another example.
  11. I would be so tempted to leave Wise in. What if Turnbow coughs up one run. Who will pitch? What the heck, play for the win. Where is the Bow?
  12. Remember Steve Martin in that movie where he is a family guy, but completely stressed out by the carry on family life provides... he was even a baseball coach for his kids little league team. At the end Steve learn to enjoy the rollercoaster. His tenseness is replaced by WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Well, welcome to Brewer fandom WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
  13. A couple of ponts: The only way this team gets to .500 is by accident. I think they will. Their talent gets them close, their heart stops them short... but one day they will accidentally get there and all will ok. The need to grow mentally. They will do it. I am amazed by the difference between AAA and MLB. Glover and Obie are lights out down there. So I can see any 4ish era pitcher in AAA that has peaked (late 20s to 30s) cannot do well in the MLB. You can see the diff between an Eveland and a Lehr. You need to expose the young guys to the fire. The AAAA guys just cannot do it. I actually think we are going to win today. By accident, but we will win.
  14. I am interested in your guys eye witness reports. There must have been a blooper that Weeks did not catch earlier, based on your comments. Is Weeks destined for center field? Will he be ok there?
  15. I am desperate to see Lee win the RBI crown. He will be a huge haul when we eventually trade him. I do not like below average D. But you guys mentioned he was a flying horse today. So maybe he can change my mind. Please, Brewers, use up every Mets pitcher tonight. You can do it. You Brewers are almost looking like a hungry team. We are hungry too. Please munch them Mets.
  16. We are pretty relaxed right now, but it is not a 10-1 game. It feels like it, but we are bad swat away from a one run game!
  17. Would it be fun (and useful!) to waste the entire Mets bullpen in the first game of the series.... hoping, hoping
  18. That is the difference between good teams and not good teams. We get guys caught stealing (guys who have proven then cannot steal) and give up out and runs. We walk guys and do not take walks. We play restricted defense. I only hope we can battle our way and keep the lead. But this is looking so much like a Brewer: ' we are scared to get too close to .500 game'. Actually what will happen is that one day we will accidentally stumble to .500. The guys will look around and see the world will not end. And they will then have stepped to the new level. Right now, these guys are a walking mental mess - Ned included. (Why else steal Brady on a 3rd ball count to give back an out). One day they will break through Today and tomorrow??? Hoping!
  19. Let us see how Ned manages this. He can leave Ohka in for his mandatory 100 pitches and give up 6 or 7 runs... or he can play this game like it is the most important one in history and start warming up the pen. I dont care if I see Wise in the 2nd inning and we use 6 relievers - if we get a win. Let us manage to win TODAY.
  20. I think it would be more fun for us if our manager knew how to manager, and the pitchers could hit a little, and the bunters could bunt a little, and the defenders could defend a little. Then we would not have to pine for the AL.
  21. If I count right, the minors teams are a combined 16 games over .500. When is the last time that happened to us! And with oodles of young guys. The more you look at the parent club and these minor clubs, you cannot really figure it going wrong. We seem to have a future.
  22. I really feel bad for Hendrickson 100% right NIGHTWING; it is crimnal to mess with a prospect like that. There are 1000s of guys wanting a chance... just one chance; and we surely could have done the reliever thing As Al would say, we set the team up for failure... and they failed. Maybe I will make a prediction. Ben will be cut or lost after this year or next, then a year later will show up to be a decent number 4 starter for some other team.
  23. Maybe they are training Rogers to be a bit more of a man and not a teenager. He seemed to cruise for 3 innings then explode in the 4th or 5th, then run away and hide in the dugout. Last game then moved him from the mound to the outfield whilst the left fielder finished his mess. And they made Mark pitch more! And he did ok. Today he did exaclty the same... crusied for 3, exploded, maybe he thought he can run away from his mess, but they left him in.... and he did ok again. Maybe there is hope for him.
  24. Two weeks from now we'll be 10 games under and waiting to see Krenzyl, Fielder, Hendrickson, and Hart in September. Poor August. Up until July we are always only a simple 12 game winning streak away from a good year. In July we get excited because maybe we can trade most of our guys to other unsuspecting teams. In Setember we can watch some young duds, and fantasise about them metamorphisising over the winter. But, alas, August... you are cursed in Brewerland. You are the month of hopelessness and reality. We pray for rain - for monsoons and hurricanes in every city the Crew will attend. We pray for replays of the 80s. Or even watching Billy Bean's college pitchers - rather than reading about our high school wild and hurt boys. August - when will you bless us? When will we care about you? When will you care about us?
  25. What is sad is that we will all gnash our teeth for the next 20 hours before the next game... and hope for better. The players, I am sure are now just 'clocking off' and having a shower and happy their day's work is done... not really caring about the outcome. They will go home to wifeys and girlfriends and boyfriends (not that there is anything wrong with that) and completely forget about baseball, draw out the salary from the ATM, and think 'darn, I gotta go to work tomorrow, but my days are short - only a few hours, and the pay is good, and it is not the worst job... so what the heck, why lose hair over it... it is only Milwaukee, and if we snare a dozen or so wins a year, the fans are happy'. Sorry, TEAM OF LOSERS, I dont think that way. There needs to be some pruning now... I was hoping the new blood of Hardy and Weeks would not be infected by the loser virus that hangs around this franchise, but I fear even the young guys will see how easy, easy, easy it is to lose... Weeks in a tailspin... ahh, who cares Hardy... just play the games out, dont worry Eveland... learning THAT'S how to pitch with the game on the line Bad luck Hart and Cruz were not here to watch Clark protect his precious body. We would not want him to have to see a bruise on his precious little skin whilst keying in the pin code to collect his pay from the ATM. You guys disappoint me so much. And least Lenny Harris played over his head for us. Unlike you relaxers and pay collectors... you stink.
