  1. You're not a bad person for laughing at this at all. Thousands of people starving and dying of AIDS is something you generally don't laugh at. Something as absurd, bizarre and surreal as a man in a wheelchair being pushed by a semi for 4 blocks is hilarious as an anecdote. Obviously it's nice the guy is OK. You're not laughing at the guy. You're laughing at the premise.
  2. DHonks, speak for yourself. Shes immensely attractive and has a look to her that's unique. Shes better to be seen and not heard however.
  3. rluzinski is right on. ALWAYS do what is in your best interest. Your company will not hesitate to get rid of you if it will result in higher profits. The software industry (I work in it too) is a dog eat dog world anyways. Your company won't hesitate to get rid of you to outsource a job and you shouldn't hesitate about working for a competitor. It's about you and about making as much money as you can. I'm not saying you have to be immoral or kick other people on the way up, but if another company finds you to be more valuable then you need to go there. Just getting a job offer is a good way to get a promotion at your current company anyways. However, id you signed a no-compete clause when you were hired, the competitor better be out of state. You have to wait a year to work for direct competitors in many states.
  4. If she won't eat, put an IV in her to give her nutrients and make her serve more time as it violates good behavior. If she is suicidal then as another said, throw her in a padded room. Jail isn't fun (I'd imagine). She needs to deal with it. This is a great story however. I don't follow celebs but Paris never disappoints. Whether it's movie making or sentencing, shes a thrill ride.
  5. Would be nice to take a series here with our 3 best pitchers coming up. We're a better team than the Rangers and although I wouldn't expect a sweep, I'd like 2 of 3. Not that I'm against a sweep mind you.
  6. IT really missed us. I was driving back into Milwaukee from the west and was happy the rain wasn't so bad. I expected I'd have to pull over and wait it out but ti wasn't too bad. Some cool lightning though!
  7. If you're blond, ~D-cup, ~28" waist, promiscuous and will allow me to proposition you at will, then yes I need roommate. Otherwise, good luck, bud. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  8. Ahhhh, UWM: Where the student body can't figure out if they're accepted or not. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I'm just kidding. I got a Bachelor of Science from that very fine university. But it was just too easy to lay off here.
  9. I agree. I'm done with this thread. I've already have brewers19 email me about it I think. There is no arguing with backup catchers. He does after all have an undergrad in philosophy. This could be why he's good at imagining things and making things up. That was a joke for the tight wads. Lighten up and laugh a little. As for Daniel Kant, keep your moral theology away from any discussion requiring logic and the idea the world isn't so black and white. He's a fraud and his opinions have no place in a country like America, where we tend to separate these things. That was also mainly sarcasm for tw's. I don't think you're stupid or anything though backup catchers. In fact it appears you're probably ahead of at least 85% of what's around. We're going to have to agree to disagree here. Unless we want this to become even more pathetic. brewers19, consider this my final post on this topic. Sorry if I sounded derisive before. I didn't mean to. Half of what I say is tongue in cheek and absurdity. I mean, it's an Internet forum. Is it to be taken so seriously? Lighten up, have fun and try to realize that it's more or less a video game without fancy graphics.
  10. BackupCatchers, You are suggesting that checking parking is the same as cross burning. You're using an irrelevant and extreme example to make your case about how it's important that people speak up. I've pointed out why this is flawed. This, is a red herring. It is also a slippery slope because you're suggesting that if people don't speak up when people park illegally, what's next?! People might not stop cross burners! Slavery could still exist! The world will catch on fire!! What if people didn't stop cross burners and no one spoke up?! Good for the parent for speaking up because without people like him crosses would be burning everywhere and crime would be rampant! Textbook example. Your examples do nothing to defend or dispute the premise, which is minding your own business sometimes is the best route. I don't think anyone would disagree that speaking up against cross burners and such is probably a good thing. You're comparing apples to oranges here. It's a typical political move anyways so maybe that's where you learned. However in a debate class or a court of law, you'd be laughed out of the room with such silliness. I think you would have been better off suggesting its great he spoke up because the elderly and crippled, purveyors of most handicap spots, often can't defend themselves. And if everyone just let people park in their designated spots, these poor people would be left defenseless. So the parent was being a good samaritan defending the rights and giving a voice to the people who need these spots. That has obvious flaws in it as well I'll leave as an exercise to the reader.
  11. JimH5, relax. Your oversensitivity has no place in an Internet forum.
  12. If it's a table then just glue them.
  13. When playing with people who know how to play (pot odds essentially and all the other elements covered here) the game is dominated by luck. No on is saying this easy though. Like someone else here said, figuring out pot odds and estimating what the players still in the pot are thinking based on their previous plays isn't easy. But I think with averagely decent players, it gets pretty close. This can be the dominating factor in deciding who wins when most players are poor players. But when most players at the table are decent, I think luck is the major player. The guy that gets the cards usually wins. I'm not a big player but I have friends that are really good and play a lot. They're basically throwing around the buy in since they all seem to win equally. However, in a stranger game figuring out whose the idiot(s) quickest is definitely a good skill to have. The guy who gets fat on the guys who don't play well are given a large advantage.
  14. Point Beer Is Best , good points. However, those are jestful lines in separate posts. But well done none the less. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I I
  15. Of course James was ranked high. Small, stocky PG's are always ranked high in these things. They can almost invariably lift a lot of weight because of their stature, they are generally quick and fast and only at this place because of their ability. Big guys don't have as much competition so you get a wider set of potential. There are a lot more good, small players than big ones. Small guys are always "safer" bets in that they've gone through so much competition as there are so many more people who are 6' than 7' that the best of the best really rise to the top. But, this doesn't mean James is a good basketball player compared to the best of the best. Against his contemporaries he's proven to be very average. This leads many scouts to believe that compared to NBA caliber PG's, he's rank as very poor.
  16. Gypcasino, hes using a red herring and a slippery slope to try and make a point. Of course his argument is based in fallacy and irelevent articles, but that's how it goes. At least I wasn't the only person who immediately found it humorous. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. Have plenty of favorites but "Catcher In the Rye" is the one that has the biggest place in my heart still. I read it when I was 17 or so and it really hit home. IT spoke to me like no other. It really left an impression. Other notables are "Catch-22", "Breakfast of Champions", a couple Gene Shepherd books and "Wages of Wins". I also like "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein. It's a "kids book" and takes about 5 minutes to read, but it's really good. It'll make you cry.
  18. backup-catchers, you're comparing the burning of crosses to a guy peeved someone parked in a spot that wasn't "his". Seriously, get some perspective on the argument. It's a red herring at best.
  19. It's 90% luck and 10% skill. How is this a sport? If you're playing with people that have any idea what they're doing, it should generally come down to luck. Regardless of what you're told on TV, after you know how to play the game and figure out pot odds and thus what you should bet based on players left, position, hand and bet, etc, it becomes a game of luck and nothing else. OK, I'll say 10% skill, 5% technique (reading players, bluffing, etc) and 85% luck.
  20. Wow, I always thought you just put a worm on a hook and prayed. Interesting stuff!
  21. LouisEly, what does behavior have to do with managing people? You reward good production and you don't reward bad production. People aren't dogs. You don't give treats to those that obey you just because they sit when you say. You give incentive to those that are smarter, faster and produce more. I guess different jobs call for different management techniques? Where I work employees are expected to think. They are treated like people. Those that prove to be valuable are paid more to stick around. Those that aren't perceived as valuable are not offered more benefit and if they leave it's not a critical loss. Maybe I took your comments too literal.
  22. SeriesFinale, I was at the game he hit his second one and was in the upper deck and watching the ball so I didn't see him. My friend watching on TV mentioned he was surprised he didn't get beaned after that one. He did on the first pitch the next day, however. So I assume he was a jerk about it. But if they want to keep putting him on base after crushing a hit, so be it. This is the big leagues. At this point it's fine to slap a dog across the face when you bet him. It's not like he's hitting these off of all time greats. When you crush a guy, if you want to take a bow and trot around for the homer crowd, go for it. When I hit HR's and I knew they were gone (especially with parents heckling, etc at that level) I made sure that trot to first base was nice and slow with plenty of admiration. But after that it was always a nice trot around with my head down usually. Although, if the other team dugout was on third base, it was fun to glare into there on the way to third.
  23. I don't know how many of you played baseball at any level before or how many of you actually hit a homerun. But when you hit one hard, and it feels so good on the bat and you know it's gone, there really isn't much else to do but admire it, flip your bat to the side and take a trot around the bases. I really fail to see what he's doing so wrong. These aren't HR's that just make it over. He's hitting the hitters black and the second deck of the bleachers. What I'm saying is he's crushing them...big time.
  24. Great bullpen work by Yost. Every time I felt like a change was needed, he made it. It's like he's catching on finally!
